How common is it to only want an orchiectomy?

Hi all

How common is it to only want an orchiectomy?

I saw my Dutch urologist and he seemed quite surprised I only wanted an orchiectomy, I told him I am really scared of hospitals and medical things in general and the idea of turning my penis inside out etc just makes me cringe.

I am not interested in men or the idea of penetrative sex and would quite like to still be able to have sex with my wife (i understand this may not be possible after operation but am willing to take that risk)

He did discuss that the orchiectomy process is quite quick and only requires an overnight stay and that he can tidy up down there so that i still have some other surgery later but still look tidy?
 
I am still in 2 minds what this means to me. If i decide i want to make further changes in the future (which I cannot rule out) this is great but if I feel that more could of been tidied up can i go back for more?

Anyhow this is my plan going forward and am looking forward to hearing back about next appointment

      Carla, I'm the same as you as to not into men and married to a beautiful wife. I've chosen the Orchidectomy and Scrotectomy. I believe that making love is not always penetration. My T- level right now is around 60ng. I can still reach orgasem and they are more intense.  I truly believe it's all in the mind. Good luck on your choice and I wish you the best. Hugs Davita!

I didn't even want an orchiectomy initially, but the blockers weren't lowering my testosterone levels. I had my orchiectomy in 2017, and my scrotum has contracted right up against my body. I still get erections, they aren't as strong as they used to be, but I'm also not as young as I used to be.  ;)

I'm just like you, doctors, needles, hospitals, and surgery put me on edge, but the day of the orchiectomy was bearable. I went to the hospital at 9:00 AM, and was home by 14:00. I did pop an internal stitch during healing and that slowed recovery down, but everything worked out fine in the end. My orchiectomy thread has pictures, i think they're on pages 5 - 8. It shows the effects of the internal bleeding, something which admittedly doesn't happen very often. But if it should, at least you'll know what to expect.

PS thanks for offer but not a chance in hell i'm looking at pictures of anything medical it will be bad enough to look at my own post op lol
