So sorry to hear about your wife.  My condolences to you and everyone else.  I wish that I lived closer, because I could help you out.  I agree with Rachel.  However, if you are strong then I would find a way to have someone come in to stay with you for whatever that recommended time period may be.  It will not be cheap, but you will really need it and it will be well worth it.

Ellen dear, my heart is with you. :'( We have so much in common, my wife of 50 years has Alzheimer's and I am losing her too.  She too is the love of my life and totally supported me in my transition.

My thought is to think about what she would want for you.  I believe she would want you to continue in your transition and want you to be happy without her.  That is what my wife says.

Ellen I am so sorry to read about your wife's death.  Having over 40 years of marriage, I would be lost too.  Take time to think about your future and what counsel your wife would have offered at this time. Take solace that she is there with you.

Rachel, Allie, Danielle, Dorit, & Judi,

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. It has been a very hard week. Yesterday, we were able to have a wonderful  outdoor memorial overlooking the Pacific Ocean. My In-Laws and a small group if very close friends were able to say good by to her.

As to my surgery .I discussed it with some of my friends, her family and my therapist. Every one thought I should go through with the surgery. My fiends and her family all said they would help me during my recovery and that she would want me to go through with it. That my wife would want me to be happy.
So today I completed my pre-op tests and just need to pass the COVID test two days before the surgery.

My GCS is now one week away and I have just been given the green light for the surgery from my primary care doctor  ;D All that is left is to take a COVID test on the 25th. And I will finally have the body that matches who I really am, a 67 women. :)

That last hurdle has been passed. The COVID test came back as "Not detected". So tomorrow morning I will have my GCS surgery. I am so excited that this day has finally come.
