Hi everyone. I am a transgender female who has Asperger's. I was diagnosed when I was about 16 years old. I am wondering if anyone else here is on this spectrum as well? In my experience it's very difficult to be both autistic and transgender.
Anyone who wants to add to this discussion is welcome to do so. :-)
Hi there, I'm also a Transgender Aspie Woman. I wasn't diagnosed until I was in my late 40's. Back when I was growing up, such things as Asperger's, and Transgender, weren't disussed, and every harsh measure that could be used to force someone to conform was used. I learned and survived, a rage filled train wreck, until I finally broke. The only plus was, being a woman, closeted or not, I raised my kids as a second mother, cared for my family as would a housewife, and listened to my spouse as would a girlfriend. So, when I tried to end my life, they wouldn't let me go. When I transitioned, they accepted me and loved me just as hard. Autism is hard. Missing so much, but it has benefits as well. My family is used to my wiring differences, and have learned how to communicate with me. It's not perfect, but then nothing is. I'd love to hear about you, if you choose.
Sincerely,
Amber Marie Grey
