I have been on hormones for three years, I just recently added progesterone and noticed that I keep having morning sickness. Has anyone else experienced morning sickness on HRT (specifically estrogen or progesterone or both)
And now, back to your original question.
Morning sickness or early morning nausea and sometimes vomiting, is associated with pregnancy, where the size and weight of the growing fetus is pushing on the gastro intestinal track, when the mother is in the horizontal position.
Having said this, common side effects of progesterone include nausea and vomiting as well as digestive track upset. There are other more serious side effects, but these few are what seem to mimic the traditional definition of morning sickness.
What to do? You may just become more accustom to these side effects, where you can live with them and maybe you may even not notice these side effects over time. For now, just treat the symptoms. There are many non-prescription medications for upset stomach, nausea and vomiting. These may help.
Some people, sometimes, just cannot get accustom to the side effects of their medication and need to switch to something else or even stop the medication altogether. At the present time, many doctors consider progesterone as an ancillary hormone for transition purposes. Many people transition very well without progesterone.
Talk to your doctor if symptomatic relief does not work and if you never become accustom to these side effects.
Take care.
