FFS in NYC

With the pandemic I am trying to find a FFS surgeon in the NYC area that someone has had success with.  Any thoughts would be welcome.  Thanks.

Check out dr. Eduardo Rodriguez’s at NYU Langone.

I was considering him very seriously and changed plans when I discovered I could have the surgery done by a resident that trained under him in Kansas City.

KC is close to home and travel expenses were a few hundred dollars vs. a few thousand dollars.

I am going to have my bottom surgery done in New York.

Travel expenses in New York are pretty cheap in these COVID days! But yeah, the prices are usually insane.

Thank you Kate for replying.  My GCS surgeons are affiliated with NYU-Langone and had recommended Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez but when I looked at his reviews, no one liked him.  Every surgeon has someone unhappy but this was the first time that everyone hated him.  That doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

I live in NYC, Sarah, and I would really hate to travel, particularly during a pandemic but it seems FFS surgeons are scarce in NYC.

The search goes on...

Harrison Lee is probably the best-known FFS surgeon who does work in New York, although he is primarily based out of Los Angeles. I personally don’t like Harrison Lee’s look, so I didn’t consider him.

Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone else in New York who is that well-known and focuses a large percentage of their practice on FFS. Kinda strange that this is the case, TBH.

I agree Sarah.  NYC should be a hub given its transgender population but it is not.  I don't like Harrison Lee's vibe but that could just be me.

Has anyone been to Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel in Boston or Dr. Eric Bensimon in Montreal?  I am trying to stay within driving distance to NY.

My first consult was with Dr. Spiegel.  I liked what he had to say but then stories started appearing on Facebook claiming his surgeries were being supervised by him and being done by his residents leaving girls with unpredictable results.

Not to dis his practice, there are probably more girls that were happy with his results, than unhappy.

I’m chicken.  Given we’re talking about my face, I chose to go with someone who felt, to me, more predictable.

I had my FFS with Dr Mardirossian in Jupiter, FL, who trained under Dr Spiegel. I am extremely satisfied with my results.

If anyone has any concerns about going to Dr Spiegel, then we should ask those questions in the pre-op consult. Specifically ask, Who is doing the surgery?  If a resident surgeon is operating, ask to meet with them before you decide what you are going to do.

Another question everyone should ask, If revisions are needed, are they done at no cost?

Cosmetic surgery has no guarantees. Even those surgeons with the best reputation, sometimes have issues. The biggest issue, from what I have heard, is patient expectations. Be sure to express your desires during the consult and ask your prospective surgeon if this is possible to do under their care.

Hi Rakel:

After I started seeing the stories on Facebook, I did go back to Dr. Spiegel’s practice and was honest with them about what I had read, admitted it left me nervous, and asked.

I felt the answer I received was a bit vague.  Granted the answer was given to me, not by Dr. Spiegel himself, but a member of his team.


With regards to expectations; I get it and we all need to get it.  If you’re expecting to look much different from your mother, or a sister, you’re probably going to be disappointed.

My expectation was to look something like my sister, with maybe a few years taken off - but not so many years that people think I'm my wife's daughter.  Maybe my expectations were modest.  Even though, I'm pleased with where I’m at right now given that my nose still has some swelling.

I had to laugh at this  as after my FFS everyone we met thought we were mother and daughter!   My wife is 10 years older than I, but the FFS took another 20 years off my appearance.

Emma, have you looked into Dr. Sherman Leis in Philadelphia?  While I had my FFS in Israel, he did my GCS and an FFS consultation.  His consultation was right on, but I had to do it at home.
