My lawyer has officially filed the petition for the name & gender change. Just waiting on the court date, fingers crossed the next steps go smoothly.

On Monday the 21st the courts have agreed to my name and gender petition! Now I can use my name and correct gender on my legal documents and have already filed the name change paperwork at the social security office.

When I thought that this news couldn't be topped I received a phone call the day after from my work's human resources department and the exclusion in the insurance policy for transgender healthcare has been removed! So now not only myself but other individuals and their families will now have transgender-related healthcare coverage.

This is just an amazing Christmas present and 2021 is off to a good start.

That's great news Alex! It feels so amazing when people start using your correct name and gender. It's been nearly three years since my name change, and I'm still getting used to it. Start updating legal documents as soon as you can, sometimes seeing your dead name seems to become more and more painful as time passes. The journey you have started can be very challenging at times, but it also usually leads to greater enjoyment of life.
