Walking
« on: February 16, 2021, 08:34:51 am »
Does anyone else like walking for exercise and to simply take in the scenery?

It is delightful to see the birds, water trickle in the creek, frozen water bodies, lavish greenery at times of the year, falling leaves, fish wiggling in a stream, animals crawling up and down trees, butterflies... I can go on and on!

Be a good example of good behavior.  Always be kinder than needed.  Be tender to others.  You are as beautiful as the thoughts you think and the words that your speak.   Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding.  Knowledge and action shown without love is not impressive.  If you look for the good in people you will find it. Healthy relationships are so important to good living.  Serve others.

Good living, joy, unity, love, and happiness can come from following these practices: Never let selfishness or conceit motivate you.  Regard others as more important than yourself.  Do not limit attention to only your interests, but include the interests of others

It is not usually about how fast you transition, it is about how well you transition.

I also love to walk. I do it almost every day unless I went for a run instead.

I live near a creek that right now is gurgling alternately under and over the ice. I follow that a short distance to the Garden of the Gods and walk up past Balanced Rock. I am so lucky to live in all this scenery, but then it's not an accident I live here. I made the choice when I graduated from college.

@ChrissyRyan   @RandyL

Yes indeed, particularly when there is not 4 feet of snow on the ground I can be found walking every day.   My home is located 2+ miles out of town so I frequently walk to work and back.

In  the warmer months I do a lot of hiking on the nearby trails, walking, running and jogging frequently, and I participate in charity walks and runs... and also at least once in the summer I enter marathons and half-marathons.

Walking around in my rural and nearby out-of-town areas gives me the opportunity to view the beautiful scenery that nature provides.

Well it's quite darn cold out for that right now plus snow XD
But on a normal bases, sure I like it. I prefer trails by a river or in the mountains, but just walking down the street for excersize...no. Perhaps if I didn't live in a shell all the time I'd be more up for it though.

My yard attracts a lot of birds and butterflies.  I have a better chance of seeing interesting birds and butterflies than most parks.

I've been to many of the tourist attractions in Colorado.  I'd go there on business and as a single traveler I could visit a couple of them in the morning and a couple more in the afternoon after my business obligations were over.

I've been taking my dogs with me for a long walk everyday even in the bitter cold (not as bitter as Danielle experiences). I love being outside and it's great exercise.

I try to practice on my “female walk” with shorter steps and so on when I am not in a hurry.  I guess I should almost never be in a hurry.  Perhaps I should develop a faster female stride.  I think I am more interested in the voice now.  I sometimes talk out loud when no one is around while I walk at times for more practice, all the time taking in the scenery.

I have been walking trails in State Parks.  When I am on a treadmill, all I think about is “how much longer”?  When I am on a trail, there are trees, and streams, and hills, and small non-threatening animals.  I suppose eventually the snakes will come out, that could be threatening.  So, on a trail, I am thinking about the place.

Yes, for me too. It's a form of walking meditation, without really trying. I let my mind drift. If it goes off on some stressful thing in my life, usually something along my walking route comes along to pull me back into the moment.

Dear Randy:
I agree with you regarding meditating and letting my mind drift, and pondering about various things while walking alone.
On the other hand if I am walking with my Tooth-Fairy and/or others then we can have some enjoyable and interesting conversations.
HUGS,
Danielle

I love walking. Lately we have had snow and cold so I don't go out. I usually take my dog for a real long walk. I love to be in the sunshine and fresh air. It is also my time to clear my mind of stress and do some deep reflection about myself.

Walking indoors, such as in a mall, is good too when bad weather hits.
