Congratulations!

Chrissy
Be a good example of good behavior.  Always be kinder than needed.  Be tender to others.  You are as beautiful as the thoughts you think and the words that you speak.   Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding.  Knowledge and action shown without love is not impressive.  If you look for the good in people you will find it. Healthy relationships are so important to good living.  Serve others.

Good living, joy, unity, love, and happiness can come from following these practices: Never let selfishness or conceit motivate you.  Regard others as more important than yourself.  Do not limit attention to only your interests, but include the interests of others

It is not usually about how fast you transition, it is about how well you transition.
.

I am a brown eyed brunette.

Jane,

Do you have a DD214 as well?

That form cannot be changed, but it can be amended. I know because I had my DD 214 amended to my new name almost a year ago and it took almost 18 months from the date of initial documentation submitted to amended DD214, but it can be done. I know of another veteran who amended her DD 214.

I do have a DD214, it is my favorite form.  It was a DA31, Request for Leave, but since I retired the DD214 took it's place.

The DD214 would have to be changed by HRC.  I am still in the process of getting things changed with them.  Changing my name was a simple DEERS transaction, but the gender change has to be completed by HRC at Fort Knox.

Assuming your service was in the Army, your records must eventually be reviewed by an Army review board or equivalent for the other services.

My DD 214 was amended by the Army Review Boards Agency in Arlington, VA. In addition to my amended DD 214, I received a new Honorable Discharge certificate with my new name.
