Does anyone play non-video games anymore?  I like chess, and Risk.

I love those!
I play all manners of board games. If it lasts more than an hour or 2, I'm in!

We just got the Royal Game of Ur, played for over 5,000 years. We haven't given it a go yet. Look on YouTube for Tom Scott vs Irving Finkel, it's quite an entertaining tutorial and history lesson.

When with a group I like to play "team" Trivial Pursuit
I just make certain that my team-mates are strong in my weak areas and vice-versa

My mind is filled with a plethora of useless and trivial facts.

@Devlyn That's interesting.  I had never heard of it.  I am just reading up on it.
@Danielle I am decent at trivial pursuit, at least in some catagories, but my Dad was like a walking encyclopedia, and nobody could touch him, except for one guy, and they both had unusually large heads.  :D

Does backgammon count as a board game?

Be a good example of good behavior.  Always be kinder than needed.  Be tender to others.  You are as beautiful as the thoughts you think and the words that you speak.   Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding.  Knowledge and action shown without love is not impressive.  If you look for the good in people you will find it. Healthy relationships are so important to good living.  Serve others.

Good living, joy, unity, love, and happiness can come from following these practices: Never let selfishness or conceit motivate you.  Regard others as more important than yourself.  Do not limit attention to only your interests, but include the interests of others

I play Risk, Axis and Allies, Chess, Battletech, Warhammer 40K, and the Star Wars Legion and X-wing games.  I often prefer the tabletop games over the video games, but sometimes the only way to play a game is to play an online game.

Only on the rare occasion I'm with another person interested in playing board games.  Maybe 1-2 times a year.  Risk and backgammon are my favorites.

I've always liked board games better than the traditional card games, but it's been a long time since I've played any. A few years back I would go over to a terminally ill friend's house and play Scrabble with him and his family and that was a lot of fun. Playing board games make a great social and mental activity for people homebound and disabled.

Lots of fun with 3 or 4 or more players....

Settlers of Catan ... now called just  "Catan" ....

.....is a combination of strategy and resource management in order to acquire the needed materials to build houses and roads ... and gain victory points.  Some luck and wise choices determines how many settlements and roads you can build, which in turn allows accrual of more resources.

These days, I enjoy most negotiation/backstabbing games. I played Diplomacy a couple of times in real life...way too long to play in person, but I played online a few times where a game goes over the course of several weeks, and it's much better in an online format. In fact, a lot of the more complex, longer board games are better online than on a board because the computer keeps track of everything, and you can space a game out over weeks and months.

I think Stratego was my favorite classic board game from when I was a kid, although the endgame was boring.

I loved Monopoly as a kid, but now I think it's pretty boring, even with some house rules.

I like all the classic board games as well: chess, backgammon (and the Russian version: narde), even checkers.

Does Connect Four count?

Well I have liked Boggle and Big Boggle but perhaps those do not count and neither does Scrabble.

Perhaps Monopoly will though!

My nan introduced us all to Rummikub. We'd play most times we went to her or she came to us. Happy memories.
I tend to prefer board/card games to video games. I like those too, but I don't seem to be as good at them. I started trying to get better at Chess at the beginning of the first lockdown. I'm getting there... slowly
