Separate the T from LGB

OzChick:
Hello everyone,

I've just been looking over this forum and have seen some excellent comments and one by F_P_M under the thread Feminism and Trans Activism which really spoke to me so I've decided to put up this post of my own to hopefully stimulate discussion.

I'm interested to hear what people think. I noticed a while ago that the christian right wing successfully attacked LGB rights through assaults on the T community through Bathroom Bills. I've also noticed that during the marriage equality 'debate' in Australia the opposition used attacks on us to scare people into voting no; "if we get gay marriage my son will want to wear a dress!" said one concerned parent who turned out to be a member of a right wing organisation. the LGB in Australian did not respond to any of these transphobic attacks in order to stay on message about marriage equality however that has breathed life into the anti-trans right wing. A quick search on the internet reveals sites   <Off Site Link Removed, Not Allowed>   which seem to provide a format for attacks on all of us (LGBTIQ+) through attacks on some of us (T).

Lately, the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) has stated that they will pursue anti trans rhetoric in the lead up to the next federal election to generate broad support. I'm concerned that will work. One of the two main political parties (the liberal party) is proudly anti-trans and has broad support; its been in power for about 10 years. There's also a swathe of anti trans bills across the USA and the self determination legislation in the UK was defeated through a frenzy of misinformation about us.

Are we seeing the right wing, joined by TERFs and the lesbian/gay right wing stepping up their attacks on all of us by attacking some of us? If so, what can we do to respond to this? How can we make the LGBTIQ+ alliance resilient to these attacks? Do we need to or is it resilient already? I frequently hear public figures complaining of the trans conspiracy unopposed or that they are being silenced despite the fact that they never seem to shut up...on national tv no less. We don't seem to have much of a voice...

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

kind regards

OzChick

It certainly seems like that all of a sudden we have a number of anit-trans agendas in front of us.

All I have to say is Trans rights are Human rights.

Lady Sarah:
There is so much going on in the world, much of it related to global climate change and the corona virus, certain groups want somebody to attack. Trans people are indeed the easiest group to attack, since we are the tiniest minority, and they aim to keep it that way.

Where politics are involved in the conversation, we are not allowed to discuss it. We shouldn't be discussing religious involvement either, since those of us with actual Christian values (not the hateful ones) get shouted down every time we speak up.

When you talk about not allowed to discuss it do you refer to this forum?
Same question about ‘Christian values’?

The moderators are strict about political talk, especially if anyone puts down any political party or a member of any such party.

When it comes to religion, it seems the atheists are given free reign to control any religious discussion. I take offense to that.
