Hi from Switzerland
« on: May 15, 2021, 10:02:22 am »
Hi all,

I'm from Switzerland, I'm 46 and I did most of my transition in the lasts years (FFS, SRS and finally VFS). So far, I'm doing fine with my transition. But here I am now, because I look for your experiences in VFS (I had a Wendler Glottoplasty here in Basel, Switzerland, in 2018). My VFS result is not good. At one side, I get gendered as female on the phone, which is great. But my voice is hoarse and the voice is "thin". In conversation I have to repeat myself very often and that is very stressful.
An insufficient vocal fold closure was diagnosed and also a small scar was found. They treated it, but it did not change to the better, yet :-\ Just to be complete, I do a lot voice training (still do), I met several voices coaches, but it did not help really.

Anyway, I already see that there are a lot of topics here around VFS, so I will dig in there. Probably also open a questions myself later. I'm curious about your experiences with hoarseness and what you tried out to better it. I'm also thinking about a revision surgery. Since a while I'm not sure anymore, if my local doctor (he is experiences in Glottoplasty here in Switzerland) did a good job or not. I know, that the voice box is a complicate matter. I don't want to point fingers. I'm in contact now with a voice clinic in Germany, but I can only meet them at the end of this year.

One thing I learned having problems with your voice is, you need to have a lot of patients!

Nice to meet you all,

Hi Nicole!

Be a good example of good behavior.  Always be kinder than needed.  Be tender to others.  You are as beautiful as the thoughts you think and the words that you speak.   Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding.  Knowledge and action shown without love is not impressive.  If you look for the good in people you will find it. Healthy relationships are so important to good living.  Serve others.

Good living, joy, unity, love, and happiness can come from following these practices: Never let selfishness or conceit motivate you.  Regard others as more important than yourself.  Do not limit attention to only your interests, but include the interests of others

It is not usually about how fast you transition, it is about how well you transition.
