Zero-depth vaginoplasty and climaxing
« on: May 21, 2021, 07:01:57 pm »
I need to decide, very soon, whether to settle for a zero-depth vaginoplasty or go for a moderate or full depth. My wife and I are still sexually active (at 70!) so I do need to be able to climax, but I'm not sure if I need depth. Not sure if I can feel complete without it, not sure I need to go to that length to feel complete.
Any guidance?
Thanks,
Jamie

Good evening Jamie,

I noticed that this is your first post here on Susan's Place and I would like to officially welcome you to our little corner of the internet. We are a supportive website for anyone with any kind of gender related issue. We have Terms of Service that are designed to keep Susan's Place Family Friendly because we have many under age members here.

I will post links to the Terms of Service and links to other important information. Please take a look at these links.

Also, if you have a moment or two, please stop by the Introductions Forum and tell us a little about yourself.

And now back to your topic.

The single most important thing I did in my transition is to accept myself and then decide how I wanted to live the rest of my life. Everybody has their own issues and only you can decide what is right for yourself. Self acceptance is most important. Counseling by professionally trained therapists will help you decide what is right for you, but keep this in mind, the decisions are yours to make.

Many of us have partially or temporarily transitioned or even detransitioned because of their family relationships. You will find some of us using terms such as non-op or gender fluid. There are numerous ways in which we express ourselves. You must find what is right for you.

Take care and see you around.  :-*

Hi Jamie!  You are not alone.   I had a modified vaginoplasty at 71 years old, I have a depth of 2cm. and therefore do not dilate.  I had a long delayed revision last March at 73 years old.  Women do not need vaginal penetrative sex in order to climax, many enjoy orgasms from clitoral and labia manipulation.  The same can be true for a post-op MTF.   Also, keep in mind that if you find later that you would really like to have penetrative sex, there is the option to add a vaginal canal with peritoneal vaginoplasty surgery.  I would say that I am absolutely grateful that I had the courage, determination, and I would add good health, to do GCS at my age!   I wish you the best!

Hello Jamie

I was given almost precisely the same advice as Dorit concerning orgasm and as I do not wish to be bothered by dilation, I selected MDV also which I am having on June 10th. I am certain I have made the right decision for me and greatly look forward to it; I am 66.

Wishing you resolution and success.

Hugs

If you are not interested in penetration, your recovery will be much faster with a shallow depth vaginoplasty and you should/ will be able to achieve orgasm without any issues, provide you have a qualified surgeon.

I think that such blanket statements are misleading and not constructive.   There is no guarantee of a faster recovery, I certainly did not have what you would call a fast recovery.  Also, even with a qualified surgeon there is a relatively high degree of uncertainty in the outcome of any vaginoplasty.  That is why most surgeons include a free revision.  I had one!

It is good not to have any false expectations.  This is a major, invasive surgery, that has life changing consequences.  My own experience is entirely positive and I am very happy with the results, even with all the accompanying suffering.

Agreed. I had an orchiectomy, simple enough surgery with a normally short recovery, right? Well, an internal stitch let go, and a  hematoma formed in my scrotum and penis. The blood needed somewhere to go, so it split the incision open and drained out. This was extremely scary and caused delayed healing.

Ejo, you should have stated that there MAY be a shorter recovery,  not that there  WILL be a shorter recovery.
