What if you only had 10 days notice before surgery?
« on: June 12, 2021, 03:21:31 am »
Hi All,

I'm a very controlling and planning centric type of person and I had my appointment to discuss my GRS surgery yesterday

I definitely have a job in Holland until end of September and I am meant to be going on holiday with my wife to Greece at end of September

Dr Kanhai successfully did my Orchiectomy and blepharoplasty so all the foundations are there

so after discussing the various options and timelines for recovery and the possibility of doing the FFS at the same time (FFS not covered by insurance but overnight stay and antiesthetic would be in the GRS bill) I said sooner would be great as starting to look like will be in the office more often

He replied they have a cancellation and can do 22nd June (10 days time)

I said can I have the weekend to think about it,  mainly because I may have neglected to mention the appointment or plan to my wife!!!!

so to the question in hand what do I need to do in the next 10 days

I have

1 talk to wife
2 talk to work
3 find a friend to bring me home
4 find a friend to take me back 2 weeks for stich removal checks
5 take last photo of boy bits
6 buy pain killer
7 buy cheap underwear
8 buy sanitary pads
9 breaking it to my pole dance instructor that not coming to class for a while (after first class in 6 months this week)

Please add to the list with some urgency lol

Thanks

Carla

I had a similar situation as you do, Carla. Not 10 days, but my surgeon offered me an opening in just two months of my initial appointment. I knew that this is what I needed, so I did not hesitate one minute. I scheduled immediately.

All the other issues with my up coming surgery just seemed to work themselves out. Pre op medical clearance was a big issue, mainly because of my age. I was 66 at the time and I needed a cardiac evaluation before surgery. I got lucky and found a Cardiologist who had an opening in just a few days later.

Once you are committed to transition and an opening becomes available, jump on it. Everything else will work out.

Take care and best wishes for your surgery.  :-*

Thanks for the support

I have spoken with my wife and she is happy for me to continue (she really is wonderful)

I can have the time off work

I have the paracetamol and the sanitary pads

Find friends to aid with transport is proving tricky but worse case I pay for a uber i guess

Rakel I am taking this as go go go, a lot of your replies err on the side of caution (and why not) but really pleased you think I should grab the bull by the horns on this one

Thanks

Carla

Carla,

Again I will say it, once you are committed to transition....

Hello again Carla

I agree with Rakel to try your best to agree to the early surgery date. I was not able to have my surgery earlier due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and finding someone to take me from NW to SE of UK. MDV on April 28th postponed which was devastating but recheduled for June 10th and it happened!

I say take the earliest date available unless you absolutely cannot make it.

Truly hope you are able to agree to surgery on June 22nd.

Finally you will probably need help with shopping after you come home.

Hugs

Pamela xx
