Numbing Cream

I am working on facial electrolysis.  The first lady I went to provided a gel or cream for numbing which helped a lot with the pain especially on my upper lip.  I asked my primary care provider to prescribe something, but she didn't know what to prescribe.  Does anyone use something to numb the face?

Emla, it's 5% lidocaine. It's over the counter here in the UK.

In the US we have 4% Lidocaine available without a prescription needed. Some products add menthol 1% which helps somewhat.

In the US, Emla Cream is 2.5% Lidocaine and 2.5% Prilocaine in a cream base. This requires a prescription by a doctor. There have been some issues with medications of this type. An overdose of numbing medicine can cause fatal side effects if too much of the medicine is absorbed through your skin and into your blood. Symptoms may include uneven heartbeats, seizure (convulsions), slowed breathing, coma, or respiratory failure (breathing stops).

Lidocaine and prilocaine applied to the skin is not likely to cause an overdose unless you apply more than the recommended dose.

get a Rx for very strong mix and have it made up at a compounding pharmacy.  I got 50% Lidocaine 25% Tetracaine

You must use a mixture this strong on a very small area. Appling this to a large area can be fatal.  I am sure your doctor gave you specific directions on how much you can safely use.
