Considering an Orchiectomy

(1/3) > >>

Ellie_Jean:
So, if I understand correctly, I'd probably be able to stop taking testosterone blockers after an orchiectomy, right?

The second reason I'm considering an orchiectomy is because my nurse expressed concern over my testosterone levels, which were a little higher than they should be.

I really only have one concern in regards to having myself castrated lol: Will it affect my future vaginoplasty? 🤔

Jane.Shannon:
After an orchiectomy you will not need to take blockers because your body will not produce very much testosterone.  I spoke with a surgeons office before my orchi, and they assured me there would be no impact on GCS.

That's somewhat reassuring...unless they just really needed the money and had no actual idea if it might affect SRS later lol. 😜

...Golly I'm a cynical pessimist anymore LOL. Major trust issues. 😅

Another question that just came to mind: Did you have to stop HRT for any significant length of time before the procedure? 🤔

Rakel:
Some surgeons will ask you to withhold your hormone therapy for a few weeks, but really since an orchiectomy is such a quick and simple procedure, many will not. When you have your consult, ask your surgeon. These are important questions you need to know.

The most common reason to have an orchiectomy prior to GCS is to avoid the side effects of Tesstosterone blockers. If you have been on Estradiol for a while (about one year or there abouts), your Testosterone production will decrease any way.
