Bittydrew:
Its finally getting more real to me in april of this next year I go in for a consultation with the doctor in omaha about gender-affirming surgery and if everything checks out will be having surgery possibly in the next month after ....so excited too....hair almost all removed already been almost a year on that and therapist is already starting her letter and the other one will be seeing her in January for the 2nd letter ....so will have everything almost together before seeing the doctor and what he recommends to do for me going for full depth but with my age don't know if thats ok or not if anything then zero depth is ok also but really want to go for full depth just the penetration issue keeping me from zero depth other wise I wound do that...but starting to get better and better for me ...and so exciting also ..

Allie Jayne:
Bittydrew, congratulations on being close to your big step! Full depth or zero depth should be your decision, but my specialist nurse told me that 60% of women who have full depth over 55 stop dilating and let their neovagina close, some due to never getting comfortable with dilation, but most as they don’t see sufficient reward for the effort required. When I had my GRS earlier this year I took the option to have a ‘dimple’, which is a 1 inch deep opening where the vaginal canal would be. It does require some cleaning (just a swab every few days ), but I have yet to find a use for it, so probably wouldn’t bother if I had the choice again.

Hugs,

Allie

Your choice of course Bittydrew.

Just like Allie I had Minimal Depth Vaginoplasty (MDV) last June and am very happy with it. I am 66.

Wishing you happiness and success whichever option you choose.

Wow... this is great news that you shared.
I am very happy for you with the exciting things that are happening in your life.
Regarding your planned GCS procedure it is very important that you do what you want to do but
with lots of consultaions with your surgeon and lots of research on your part.

I might also suggest that you look at many of the Topics and Posts on the following sub-forum:

I hope and trust that you find the answers that you are seeking.
Updates and your progress would be nice to see as long as you feel comfortable sharing.
HUGS and best wishes,

Dorit:
I had minimal depth at 71 three years ago. It was largely because of reasons outside of myself.   I am aware that if I had to dilate over the last three years, it would have added to my almost overwhelming stress of being the full time caregiver for my much older wife with Alzheimer's.   However, as I have this new life in my body and have started dating men, it is somewhat of a problem to have minimal depth to offer ;)! While I could add depth now, I am afraid of another surgery at 74.
