I think I recall reading advice on this forum about being flexible and willing to shop around for the right therapist. Good advice! The therapist that I started with was nice but she seem somewhat inexperienced with trans issues. She was the one that suggested I present as a woman a few days a week at work and see how it goes. I tried to explain that once out you can't really go back in. Her response seemed very detached from reality. Oh, and she forgot my name during one of our sessions. That was a bit distressing. Seriously, it was a ZOOM session, if she gets names wrong then have a whiteboard offscreen and put the clients name on it.
Enough complaining about that.. Moving on. My new therapist is at a clinic that specializes in the LGBT community. She is young but I feel that I can open up and she will understand as she has many trans clients.
I guess my point of this post is don't settle, it's your mental wellbeing, it's your money, and it's your time. Give your new therapist a few sessions but don't hesitate to move on if you do not click.
Hugs,
Brooke
