In the UK its quite simple

https://www.deedpoll.org.uk/

Basically apply and you will want to order a few copies that cost extra, these are ones you need to send away with drivers license and passport and will also need for banking changes.

This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud
It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life

That looks like one of those scam sites charging for something you can get for free:

There are unenrolled deed polls, and enrolled deed polls. You can do your own deed poll on the back of a cocktail napkin. The important thing is the wording, a witness, and a signature. You can find templates online.

BTW, both of the links given above involve a fee.   ;)

Yep you pay a fee, but also you need to make sure that you have enough paper coipies for all important stuff like banks, dvla, passport and HMRC.

Work and GP will change your name without anything.

I did it and it was simple. I downloaded a deedpoll document from a free deedpoll site can not remember the name but a quick google will find it. I got two witnesses and made 3 original copies all signed and witnessed. I started with the banks no problem, then HMRC, NHS, driving licence (including gender change), directorships, council and voting register, phone it goes on and on…. I am still finding companies that need to be told. The only company that did not accept the deed poll was my Sky contract. They insisted on it being certified, annoying but I have little contact with them and when contract ends Jessica will open a new one; and you can create a login in any name for all online functions. Currently the only item I have not changed is my passport and that is because, with COVID, I still have flights booked before the name change but that will be over in a few weeks

Good luck with your name change it is easy but time consuming

Hi All,

Thanks for info

I have used this company ukdeedpolloffice

for about 28 quid I will get 6 copies and they come with a nice back ground so I will frame one

I am going to go to post office and pay them to fill forms in for Passport and Driving license as I can't be bothered with the stress and hassle if I get anything wrong

I have switched most online things years ago

Thanks

Carla

Good luck Carla with changing all that remains to be changed.

Obviously you and I are both post op having arranged surgery and HRT privately. I do not for a minute regret using private route as I am fortunate enough to have the funds.

However although happy with the HRT service provided by GenderGP and as I have shared agreement between GenderGP and my NHSGP whereby I obtain my medication free under NHS, I do not wish to pay my monthly subscription to GenderGP forever! Therefore I have decided it is now time to register at NHS GIC for HRT ONLY.

There are some worthwhile comments from several Members on that subject on my thread HRT from NHS GIC on HRT Board. I suggest this subject may now apply to you. Please feel free to comment on my thread. Thanking you.

Hugs

Pamela xx

PS: I am of course now forgetting about the possibility of pellets, but the main matter is to establish a method for the many who have gone private, to be given our ENTITLEMENT to free HRT under NHS (whether from NHS GIC or from NHSGP).

The Deed poll forms arrived very quickly and looked great

Had a bit of trouble doing the signing as my first and second choice witnesses were not available but managed

I then went to the post office who were useless supposedly the lighting in the shop was not great for taking the photo on their app and it won't go past that part to be proccessed

So I filled in the information online and then mailed everything recorded to Passport office

yesterday was 2 weeks later and I got a reminder to send passport and paperwork, I started to panic as I couldn't find the post office receipt but this morning I have a text to say they have received it (so just a little longer to go)

I did visit my bank (Lloyds) and they were really good and I already have new cards and even a cheque book in my new name now, it feels fantastic using them

Passport change not going well

looks like I will lose holiday in 12 days time

I had another update late on the 14th of April to say that they needed the Dutch surgery document translating (which I guess is reasonable) but I'm sure I sent another letter from 2018 from YourGP gender clinic

Anyhow translating at 50p a word is a no go and impossible on an easter bank holiday

I sent more YourGP documents about blood tests on 19th and some spare bills in my name

I also tried to book an appointment with my GP to get a physical examination and a verification letter that my change was likely to be permanent I managed that by the 28th of April and that has now gone off

There has been no updates on their arrival and have finally got through and been told it takes 3 weeks to scan the mails in atm

I finally got through on the phone and have tried to ask to abort and send back old passport but you have to do that in writing ffs

I have done that in hope the old one comes back

but over all not going well and wife is livid

That seems overly complicated for a passport change?
I changed my name (first and last) and gender and I was pre-op so could not supply any medical stuff..
I did a unregistered (free) deedpoll  with a form online, signed by a single witness and that I copied and sent to banks, passport and DVLA.. no problems ever with anyone accepting it.
For the passport I had a letter from my therapist and my old passport.. it was really simple and took about 8 weeks to come back to me.

@Carla68
Dear Carla:
Thank you for sharing your wonderful news regarding your Driving License name name change.

Q:  Did you keep the old photo or submit you newest picture?

If it were me, I think I might have paid the extra money and used my "latest and greatest" photo !!!

Again, thank you for sharing.
HUGS,
Danielle
