Knitting & Sewing
NotPiperHalliwell:
From what I can tell no one has posted in here in a while but I kinda want to talk about knitting and sewing so here I am.
I am not the best by any means but I love knitting and sewing. I've been able to hand sew in a very basic capacity forever but knitting I started doing about 6 years ago and I love it but haven't had much opportunity to make much beyond hats, scarves, gloves for clothing and random things like coasters and table mats for example. I taught myself online and I'm glad I did.
I've been trying to be more creative with sewing too. I've recently made my first skirt, that I love.
Is anyone else as into this as I am?
Margot.

I have a bunch of sewing machines but lately all I've done is to hem pants. Last one was done about two weeks ago.

I recently discovered sewing. I don't have the patience for knitting, but I love sewing projects, since they require planning the pattern, cutting the fabric, sewing, ironing and you are always working inside out which requires a completely different mindset. Love it!
I just started in January, just to give it a try. So far I have sewn two skirts (one of them lined) and one dress (also lined with a tight fitting bodice and a wide pleated skirt).

Sewing is a fantastic skill to have. In the world of fast fashion and one size fits "some" sizing, it is nice to be able to adjust your clothes or make your own. A friend of mine decided to take up sewing after I completed a few projects for her. She's super amped. I told her I just like playing with scissors. lol. I've played with my sewing machines off and on for 15 years or so. Not a professional, but I can make some things happen. It really sucks that fabrics have become so outrageously expensive for such poor quality.

My mother loves sewing, she has taught her daughter how to sow. I have made some clothes, and I can hem a pants. Knitting, I do know how to knit, but I dont do it.
