Decided I will be non op
Nora Kay:
I have decided I will not be getting any major surgery. To much of a chance for things to go wrong. And the percentages people tell you are wrong. Just make sure you will be ok if you need multiple revisions for the multiple surgeries you are going to need. Complications are not fun. Trust me.

Nora, there are no rules to being trans or if and how we might transition, and surgery certainly isn’t for all of us. Our paths are very personal, and must fit who we are and what we need. Any surgical process is subject to complications, and this is why we need to be prepared for things to not go smoothly, and most surgeons require a waiver to be signed accepting those risks. I was lucky with my GRS, recovery was a dream and no real complications. I needed this surgery to release me from crippling dysphoria, and it worked better than I’d dreamed. After 2 years of reading up about BA, the practical reasons have justified the risks and costs, and I will be having this surgery in 3 days from now. This is right for me, even at 68 years old, but I appreciate that it is not right for everyone.
Hugs,
Allie

Hi Allie,
Good luck on on your BA!

Hi Nora,
It helps if you can get a talented surgeon to do the work.
I have had several dental operations by a wonderful oral surgeon.
Sometimes things didn't go as planned but the results turned out great!
I'm sure that is true of any surgical procedure.
Some people are better at dealing with the unexpected than others.

Hi Nora! I'm glad that you're find your own path, sis! Everybody is different, and you're right that there's a big time risk/reward decision that has to be made for EVERY surgery.
You know me... I'm a riverboat gambler LOL! There's definitely a possibility that I'll come back from my FFS wishing I had never done it. There's also the possibility that it'll make a huge difference in my life going forward. There are no certainties in life, and the fact that different people can look at the same evidence and come to completely different conclusions is what makes this world sort of interesting to live in!
Good on you!
~Sara
