Facial hair removal.

CosmicJoke:
Hi everyone. I think especially with MtF there's a wide array of things we do about facial hair. Right now the only facial hair I have is peach fuzz. I previously had many laser treatments so I currently use something called Finishing Touch Flawless. I'll even shave it to every now and then. I guess you could say I go back and forth between those two things. There's this weird myth that shaving makes the hair grow back thicker but I haven't personally found that to be true.
So, what do you do about facial hair removal?

Nadine Spirit:
I did about 3-4 years of facial electro, so these days it is mostly just peach fuzz. The occasional stray dark hair is plucked. The peach fuzz, I occasionally trim. I'm low key trying to possibly never shave my face again for the rest of my life, yay!

Congrats, Kelly, on getting to the "no shave" point!  After 3-4 years of electrolysis, you sure BETTER be getting there!  I have had between 110-120 hours of electrolysis, and I'm still needing to go about once a month or so to get a few stragglers.  Hopefully I'll get to where you are soon enough!

I did 7 sessions of laser hair removal prior to the electrolysis, but I don't think it really made a big difference.  I still needed over 100 hours of electrolysis, and I still have a little more to go.  Maybe it would have been 150 hours without the laser, but we'll never really know.

At this point, I don't do much of anything until I see some stray hairs.  I'll shave them off when I see them, but that usually doesn't happen but once every 3-4 weeks.

Angelaney:

Laser can be quite effective, I'd started doing this before the pandemic hit, but the place went out of business during lockdown here in the UK.
Since then i've struggled to find anywhere to get started again, because many places say they do laser hair removal, but what they call "laser" is actually IPL, and nowhere near as effective for facial hair. I phone and I ask them "is it laser or IPL?" and if they cannot answer or they think the L means laser, then I strike them off the list, right now there is nowhere within about 50 miles that does actual laser hair removal.

Tills:
That is interesting Angelaney. Someone on another thread said laser on face was a waste of time and money, which she later qualified slightly. From what you say it certainly seems to make a difference what type of laser is deployed.

Do you know of Primelase HR Medical Grade Diode Laser? My local studio now uses this and it's supposed to be way more effective than the old types of laser, over twice the power and with an in-built cooling system.
