Looking for my tribe
Brie78:
Hi, I'm Brie, and I'm very happy to be here. I am MTF and I don't guess I'll be too specific on my story as it is very similar to what I have been reading in other's introductions. The short version is I'm in my mid 40's, happily married, and finally starting my journey to living as my authentic self.
Yesterday I had my first appointment with my new doctor and should be starting HRT in a couple of months. I have some serious weight loss issues to address too. I must be the luckiest person ever; my work insurance does not cover any form of gender affirming or bariatric care whatsoever, and I am required to keep said insurance as a condition of employment. My new doctor explained that I can still get on my spouse's plan and keep my required insurance- but not use it. I rushed home after my appointment and my wife was able to add me to her plan-- her open enrollment period ended last night at midnight!!! And her company covers all gender affirming and bariatric care. I think it is meant to be.
I have all sorts of questions and concerns about transitioning, coming out, work/life struggles etc. I don't have anyone in my life who understands my situation, and my therapist has been suggesting that I find my tribe. This seems like a good a place to start. Thanks for having me! :)

You know, Brie, sometimes life can be pretty cool. Just when you think the world is out to get you, things just magically turn around. I'm really happy that happened for you!

Fire away, sis! I probably can't answer everything, but I can help out on things that I have experience with. Between all of us on the site, I'm sure SOMEBODY can answer most of your questions.
Good luck on starting HRT soon!
~Sara
