Amusing Doctor visit this morning
« on: November 24, 2022, 08:20:07 am »
So for many years I’ve not taken any hormones (I know, not very wise) and the last hormones I had were patches. I never got on with the patches as they always kept coming off, so I decided I wanted to start taking hormones again but tablets this time.
I have a newish doctor who I’ve been to a few times, so as I sat down this morning I explained what I wanted. She then says you may not need them, and what did my gynecologist say, and am I suffering from vaginal dryness. At this point I thought I’d better put her right so I said I was AMAB. She didn’t take this on board and I could see she hadn’t understood me (I’m English and she's Dutch with less than perfect understanding of English). I then told her I was transgender and then the penny dropped, but her face was a picture. She said she had no clue and wouldn’t have known had I not said something. I hate telling people but I guess the new doctor had to know.
Anyway she was going to find out what tablets and dosage I should be taking.

Just found out I’m being prescribed Progynova.  Does that sound about right to you ladies??

Sounds like it was a very affirming visit! I hope the doctor can get you back on a dosage which makes you comfortable. I've always used patches and never had much of an issue with them, but I know many people have trouble with them falling off or have allergies to the adhesives. I wish you the best of luck!

Love always -- Jessica Rose

Dear Saskia:
YES indeed, thank you for sharing you good news and very affirming story
regarding your recent Doctor Visit.

What you described happens to quite a few of us that are or have transitioned.
In my own experience with my doctor visits to other than my regular doctor ...
...and also Mammograms, I have gotten questions asking about my periods
or past pregnancy issues.... :)   :o   ::)
As you did with your doctor, I had to explain that I was AMAB and I am
a transgender woman.

VERY AFFIRMING for sure!!!!
Thank you for sharing.
HUGS and best wishes to you as you continue on.
