hairs cut.
« on: March 23, 2023, 08:29:49 pm »
Got my hair cut today. I generally wear my hair over my forehead because I have a guy's forehead. I don't pass well when it's exposed. So anyway, I always get nervous that the hair stylist knows I'm trans because of this, they can see my forehead. They were nice today. Does getting your hair cut while trans make you anxious too?

I've been trimming my hair for the past few years.  It has been five years since I last had it cut.

No, but because I've always just told my hairdressers that I'm transgender and want a female style, not unisex or male.

I was really anxious the first time, but she was nice and very accepting. Amy is still the only person who has ever cut my hair since I became Jessica. You would probably be more comfortable if you can find a stylist you trust and stick with them if possible.

This is why partly I grew my hair out when started transitioning, I grew my hair down to waist before I had the guts to have my hair cut into a more female style. The reason for the cut was actually because the long hair was heavy and was getting uncomfortable and it took a long time to blow dry.

I never told the lady I was trans, but she treated me like a lady and I got a nice style. These days, I keep my hair around shoulder blade length, I like my hair long.

I grew my hair out before transition. I had a grown out DA slicked back with gel about 20 years before Jax Teller! Grew it out to a Joan Jett style shoulder length shag. I have bra strap llength hair now, straight undyed & silver. A good length for brids & updos but not a PITA to look after.
I don't pass & haven't told my hairdresser iam trans but she has always done a great job without cutting too much off.

I had long hair for decades before I transitioned, and generally was just treated as another customer. I moved and started going to a chain salon in a mall, and they were happy to cut my hair, but would charge me women's prices as it was more applicable for my hair. The last time I went there a young staff member told me I had to wait for the men's barber to come back from lunch as she only cut women's hair. I told her that in the past they had always cut my hair as a woman and charged the women's rate, but she wouldn't budge. as I said, that was the last time I went there.

I was recommended to try a suburban salon and I told the owner I was trans. She welcomed me warmly, and has been amazing ever since, treating my like any other woman there. I think it is well worth finding an accepting salon and sticking with them.

Hugs,

Allie

The hair dresser well knows my family. I was not happy with the work she did to my hair, but I decided to become a regular visitor, because she attended the funeral of my mother in law last year and I was thankful for that. I realized that she is good at straightening hair, and asked the same to my hair. The result was nice to my eyes.

I have lose my hair gradually with age, but I still manage to have ample hair to look feminine.

Cheers,

barbie~~

I cut my hair recently.  Actually, I cut it generally in November and March.  This time was short because my deceased father bugs me about it.  Anyways, the girl or woman cut it until she threw her hands up and exclaimed " I can't do anything with your hair!'

So, this is exactly what I do with my hair.

Nothing

Almost nothing at all except shampoo and conditioner 2 or 3 times a week. I have not cut my hair in over 8 years. Mine just does not grow longer than bra length, which is fine for me.
