In the USA, this is Armed Forces Week - 2023
« on: May 17, 2023, 06:37:32 pm »
In the USA we are now in the middle of celebrating  Armed Forces Week
       Saturday May13 thru Saturday May 20, 2023

At the end of Armed Forces Week is Armed Forces Day on Saturday May 20, 2023
Armed Forces Day is observed annually on the third Saturday of May.
It is a day dedicated to paying tribute to men and women who currently serve in the
United States' armed forces.
Additionally, Armed Forces Day 2023 forms part of Armed Forces Week. It should be noted,
that because of their unique training schedules, National Guard and Reserve units may
celebrate Armed Forces Day/Week over any period in the month of May.
The celebration takes place each year during Armed Forces Week.

The United States Military is composed of six branches, including the Army, Airforce, Space Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. As of 2019, more than 1.3 million active-duty service members are stationed in the United States and around the world. An additional 800,000 reservists stand ready in the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. The holiday unites the country behind the men and women who currently serve in the United States military.

Even though Armed Forces Day falls on Saturday, May 20, 2023, it is a working day.
Most businesses follow regular opening hours in United States.

Not to be confused with the upcoming Memorial Day on May 29, 2023 – which is
a solemn occasion to honor the men and women who died while serving in the military...

... and also not to be confused with Veterans Day on Nov. 11, 2023 - it is importantly
a day to thank military Veterans for their service and is also the anniversary of
the signing of the Armistice Treaty, which ended World War I

Important USA military holidays and observances for 2023

Other nations around the world also have set aside their own Holidays to pay tribute
to their past and present military forces and personnel, and to recognize important
dates in their nation's history.
