lolli:
I may have posted this in the wrong place and as for subject !!!

If a man/woman is married to a male/female and he changes his sex to either a female/male then how does the law stand in the US.
As your not allowed to have same sex marriges.
Or if you have changed your sex does the state not recognise you as that sex so it wont apply.
I am not sure about the UK so i cannot comment.
And if you are not recognised as the sex you have become then what are you.
And if we dont exist then i am not typing this  ::)

Sorry I read some posts about this that Lit and BrandiOK posted and i had to have a mind bending moment. ???

Today I stand in California.  Yes, the golden state of opportunity and gracious living for all.  It's the quintescential breeding ground for unusual and unique sorts of people.

When I stand in my homestate of Utah where I can't possibly exist.... my California marriage certificate is legally binding.  Go figure.  What would happen if I got divorced in Utah?  Would I dissapear?

I've often mused about the multitude parodox created by thinking through the iterations fabricated by unerring gubbamint workers.  And what would your valiant heterosexual, proud white, southern baptist extremist do?

What if we could change the gender marker on their drivers license?  Would they summer in the heides? Would they lead their congregations to a gay bar and pick up cross dressers?  Or could they possible consider moving to my wonderful state of California?  Oh no, there goes the neighborhood!

:) Yes very good Cindi...I enjoyed that.

My whole family are staunch RC, so me changing my gender will unleash fire and brimstone upon me.
And as RC and changing ones gender i will not be recognised by the church.
I should write to the Pope and ask his opinion?

For most of the US, once that gender marker is on the birth certificate, that is it until you die even if you change it.

Same sex marriages or civil unions or whatever some other states or countries may have are not being recognised in most of the US.  So once you get hitched in a friendly area best that you settle down until "death do you part" or until a divorce goes through.  Of course this is nothing new.  When I had my concealed carry permit I had to go through training (12 hours, did so with two police officers) and an FBI background check.  Yet that license was only good in the state that I lived.  Should I wish to protect myself beyond the borders I would have to do so illegally (except Vermont).  Tried making the argument that a drivers license is accepted in every state, why would something like this not be?  I knew, at that time, marriages would be next and even posted that on another board back then.  Sure enough, it has gone that way and other states have even threatened not to recognise some state's DL now.

I am politically active and I do try to educate myself on the issues.  It is important that we vote in every election, no matter how inconsequential it may seem.  We can change things, one baby step at a time.
