Am I Genderqueer?

(1/3) > >>

Plix:
All this time I've accepted myself as a MtF TS. But there has been that occasional moment where I've had to wonder if that's really so.

I think most of us would agree that there are two acceptable genders in society, male and female. All of us are expected to identify with one of those genders based on our genitalia and present ourselves to the world accordingly.

Long before I ever considered myself female I rejected a male identity. I could never be happy living life as a man. In our society what is the only alternative? Living as a woman.

Sometimes I wonder whether I'm really female or have come to consider myself female because it is the only acceptable alternative to male.

Then there are other times, most of the time actually, when I am certain I am female and always have been.

Either way, I've started MtF transition and plan to complete it. But I will always wonder.

Kimberly:
Friendly word of advice. If you doubt, you should *REALLY* be looking at alternatives.
Do not feel you must finish just because you start. A lot of the journey is quite undoable and not at all fun. Be sure, I suggest. Very much regret it might save you.

beth:
i agree with Kimberly,

it's lots better to do the wondering now rather than later after transition.

Unfortunately the only alternative is living as a man, and that isn't an option.

I've always found it interesting how transition is only considered to be appropriate for TSs. Why not allow TGs to transition as well? I'm sure some of them could be very happy doing so, and they don't necessarily have to identify as the gender they transition to.

It really is unfortunate there are only two genders in society. Where does that leave TGs? I think they should have the option to transition as well if they choose.

But it is very possible if not likely that I identify as female. Either way, why not go through with transition? It's clear I'm not male. What else is there to do?

I would think that those who do not desire to transition into female, or male, do in fact transition in a very significant manner if they have the desire to do so.  Transition is after all, only in part a physical thing, it is also a mental thing.

If one does not desire to change the body, but does in fact change their own self image and self esteem, I would call that just as tue a transition as that aquired by those who use chemicals and surgery to alter the body.

Anytime one is more comfortable with life and themselves then they were at a previous point, transition has occurred, be it in mind, body or both.
