I celebrated 5 months clean and sober on the 11th! I'm so glad this crew is here! I've been looking for some sober trans people. My name is Tim I'm and alcoholic and addict, I'm ftm and three months on hrts.

Hi Tim, congratulations on your time! I celebrated five years in February. Just found the addiction thread. It's good to see other trans-identified people in recovery--I know there's at least one meeting in my city for sober trans people, though I haven't been yet. I'm still early in my trans journey (trans recovery?), and I plan to hit it up when I feel more comfortable.
I think that getting sober helped me sort out/acknowledge my resentments toward gender. However, it took another five years for me to finally "get honest" about this part of myself. A life beyond our wildest dreams, eh? :)

Welcome Rythm So glad you are seeking help. May i make a suggestion to take an inventory of those around you. When I went through my period of discovery. I realized, it's not about me. In 12 step they encourage you to seek a higher power. Mine was my newborn son. I have been clean and sober for over 30 years. My kids are still my power. Bless you for coming to the logical conclusion it's time to change. Best wishes for a continued recovery.

Congrats, Tim. That's a big deal. I'll have 2.5 years on the 6th. I came out in sobriety and my home group has been uber supportive. They have been a huge part of both my recovery and transition.
