Quote from: LoriDee on Today at 02:42:17 PMI am so happy for you, Allie.
You have a wonderful family! That is so precious.

Thanks Lori - I'm very lucky. Although it's definitely not without its issues, just like every other family.

Still not sure about a few brothers-in-law and nephews... and then there's my estranged younger brother, with whom I haven't spoken in nearly a decade (his choice). We didn't even discuss him on Saturday. I see no reason to share this with him. I do know if/when he hears about it, I might get my first contact - I hateful email or letter for which he is famous.

So yeah... we all have issues. I just think, as much as possible, I try to choose happiness on a daily basis. Some days... some days, it's a damn bit harder than other days. I will tell you that.

But my real luck is my wife. The last words from my therapist this morning "By the way, please ask your wife again if I can clone her!" 😂

I transitioned 7 years ago, got my SRS a year ago.  (Would you believe USA Medicare paid for it?)
Both have definitely improved my life a lot.  Life isn't a bowl of cherries (or whatever), but whenever I ask myself if I would go back, every part of me says "no @#$% way!!!"

These days I notice the absence of the masculine "rules" that used to make my life miserable, no matter how much I tried to ignore them.  It's also very nice that I can look in the mirror and see a woman, not a man.  (At least when I have my wig on.)  An ugly old woman, but I'm OK with that.  And when I talk to women, I no longer see the guardedness that I always saw before.  I don't know how much I really belong to womankind at this point, but I seem to be accepted more and I feel almost normal.

Before I had my SRS, I never realized how much having that thing on me bothered me -- it was like a sense of shame.  And once the SRS was done, I think even before the dressing came off, I felt so much better about my body.  I no longer have to see-but-not-see when I look at my body.

The only thing that still bugs me is the male pattern baldness.   But just a few days ago, I discovered that a cis woman I know also has male-pattern baldness and wears wigs.  And it's getting to bother me less -- I feel like I mostly just look a lot older without my wig, especially since what hair I do have is pretty wispy and thin, so it's more like old, old lady hair.

Now my efforts with my therapist (formerly my gender therapist) are directed at dealing with my Complex PTSD from childhood.  (That's a very long road...)

Cooking / Re: Do you enjoy Asian food?

I will go to an Asian buffet every once in a while.  You can get to select from a lot of entrees, although I have no idea which are authentic Asian foods.  I just know I need to go to an Asian restaurant to eat them!

I find it interesting that although quartz is a mineral, quartz countertops are man made.  Quartzite, a rock, is not man made.  Quartzite countertops are made from rock, as are granite ones.

Quartzite sounds fake (man made) and quartz sounds natural.  But it is the other way around for countertop material.

I went to our Resident Council meeting last night and, the meeting is next Monday. Tonight was Walking Tacos Night. But I had already eaten before the meeting.

Today's Arts & Crafts Event has been postponed until next month. Only three residents signed up for it and it was not going to be the type of event I thought it was. My wife (now ex-) and I sold jewelry and scented candles at all kinds of craft shows, fundraisers, and state and county fairs. What they wanted to do here was more of a Local Artists Showcase where we just put some things on display for other residents to enjoy. Um, no. So the event is postponed and will be an Arts & Crafts Show and we will invite artists who may be local but not necessarily residents of our community. We will see how it goes.

I added a few more jewelry pieces to my photo album.
Rough Stones to Jewelry by Lori Dee

The sun is shining, my best friend / fellow rockhound / mining buddy is with me, and I have a full tank of gas, so we drove out to check on the creek. The water level is a little bit high but doable. The water is still running fast though, and still not even 40 degrees. Brrr.

But look at that sky!

We are still lacking the Spring green, and my Bestie thinks we will skip Spring and just go straight to HOT. We decided to drive back up into the Hills further where I spent last Summer when I was homeless camping for six weeks.

This is Boulder Hill. I wonder how it got that name?
The reason it is shaped like that is because it is an extinct volcano.

When lava cools quickly, it forms glassy rocks like obsidian. When it cools very slowly, the rock becomes very hard and dense like granite. What you see sticking out at the top was the lava that cooled slowly and formed these boulders. They don't erode away as quickly as the surrounding mountainside that was largely soil and ash. Now you understand why Devil's Tower looks like it does. It was once a huge volcano and everything eroded away but the center.

Behind one of my campsites was this cool sunbathing rock... or mountain lion perch. It depends on who gets there first. Mountain lions are skittish around people unless they are really hungry. I don't eat mountain lion so our arrangement worked out well.

Here kitty kitty. psp psp psp
I wish photos could capture the smell of these pine trees. I love that smell.

Now I'm home and ready for a nap.  ;D
