If transitions have theme songs, I am picking Defying Gravity from Wicked. For oh so many reasons. I do reserve the right to change my mind arbitrarily and with no notice. :-D

I can't braid my own hair, I can barely braid someone else's. I saw a vid using hair-ties to create a faux braid that looks nice. I ended up not doing that yet kept the multiple hair-tie look.  It came out rather interesting yesterday.

**we won't discuss the flyaways. My hair still breaks easily as I haven't found the solution yet.

I think I got somewhere with the letter to my sisters last night.

I got to the oh-so-satisfying point of editing where I was reading and rereading it through and with each pass I would cut out some sentences, phrases or words.

So it's now at the point where it's good enough to see the light of day. I'll show it to my wife in the next few days, and if our son wants to see it over the weekend, him as well... plus there are a few others to whom I've mentioned it whose input I would appreciate.

And we'll see where that takes it.  But I think this is now at least the basis for the final product.

As Kansas nears gender care ban, students push university to advocate for trans youth

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/as-kansas-nears-gender-care-ban-students-push-university-to-advocate-for-trans-youth/ar-BB1kHQIT?ocid=windirect&cvid=b6527bf865b840a2b476c9333b99e4d4&ei=49

Story by JOHN HANNA (28 March 2024)

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — With Kansas poised to ban gender-affirming care for minors, college students are trying to counter Republican efforts to roll back transgender rights by pushing the state's largest university to declare itself a haven for trans youth.

The GOP-controlled Legislature approved its proposed ban on puberty blockers, hormone treatments and surgeries for minors Wednesday, apparently with the two-thirds majorities in both chambers needed to override an expected veto from Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly. Kansas would join 24 other states in banning or restricting gender-affirming care for minors, the latest being Wyoming last week.

But the week before — when a ban already appeared likely — the Student Senate on the University of Kansas' main campus overwhelmingly approved a proposal to add transgender rights policies to the school's code of student rights. The proposal asks administrators to affirm the students' right "to determine their own identities," direct staff to use their preferred names and pronouns and commit to updating student records to reflect their gender identities.

"The people in charge have made the decision to support some things that are really cruel and unnecessary and unjustifiable," Jenna Bellemere, a 21-year-old transgender senior, said of lawmakers. "It's students and the younger generation who have to kind of step up and say, no, we don't think that that's OK and fight back against it."

Quote from: Iztaccihuatl on Today at 12:22:39 AMSo, how many stories does your Social Security Administration building have? Just tying to get an idea of your workout options for tomorrow...

In all seriousness, congrats on your new driver's license with your correct name (and hopefully correct gender marker as well)!

Hugs,

Heidemarie
Heidemarie, yes, the gender marker is correct. That was another form which I had to fill out. Luckily the counter lady was patient and let me fill it out there without going to the back of the line. Of course being frazzled, I had to fill it out twice because I made a mistake on the first one.
