Why are trans people's passport applications being rejected?

To me this appears to be more security related, than trans targeted. A 1999 passport application may be under close review and any issues must be brought up to date. Being that there is more red tape involved with a gender marker change it is more likely going to trip deeper reviews.

I've not tried this yet, but I do work for a federal contractor. This administration is absolutely paranoid in its travel policies, so I have little doubt that's what's going on now.

This administration is paranoid about everything that is not the "Normal" and pronoid about everything that is. So honestly this does not surprise me in the least. I will wait for final judgement to hear is there are many other non-trans persons that run into the same thing, but given the current atmosphere...
We need to stop being paranoid :)
