Title: FFS Questions
Post by: HeidiKat on June 13, 2018, 08:07:13 PM
Hello, sorry if this isnt in the right place here. I just made a account because I look up quite a few things and usually find it on here so I wanted to ask a question.

So im a 22 year old mtf and i've been on estrogen and Spiro for 4 months now and have dressed/acted like a female for a little over 5 years now and im trying to plan ahead for my ffs. Outta all the doctors i've seen I really like Dr.lee Harrison but I cant find much on him. I was wondering if anybody has been with him and could tell me their prices?
At first I wanted my brow bone done, hairline lowered, rhinoplasty, chin and jaw contouring and tracheal shave. But i've gotten more confident and think I could be fine without messing with my forhead and hairline. I guess the hormones have started making me grow new hair because my hairline is rounding out.

My other option was dr.keojampa, does anybody know his price?

Also was wondering if anybody knew if bluecross blue sheilds helps any? Of course I live in Oklahoma so nothing helps much :(
Thanks you guys.

Hi Heidi, I'm meeting with Dr. Lee for the first time in July. If you want you can feel free to message me mid-ish of July and I can get back to you about that.
I also want to meet Dr. Keojampa and Dr. Deschamps-Braly but I don't have consultation appointments with them yet.
I'm in NYC, just and fyi.

I went to Facial Team in Spain and I would highly recommend them. I know it means flying to Europe, but you may also find that they are cheaper than in the States, and there is a health resort nearby that is ideal for recovery and they are used to having patients. The surgeons are very good and they specialise in MTF-FFS, and they are a team of surgeons and they each work on different parts of the face. So you get pretty amazing results in my opinion.

Anyway you may prefer to stay in America.

As for prices, I had exactly the same procedures you are suggesting and the total cost was 29,000 euros. I had that quoted in May last year and had the surgery in January of this year.

By the way, you said you thought you might do without the forehead contouring. These were my thoughts too, but in my consultation the surgeon told me that the forehead is the most important part of the face for feminising. This is because when people look at you, they look at your eyes and this is the part of your face that surrounds your eyes, and having it contoured will bring your eyes out and make them bigger. It also changes your profile most drastically.

It may be different in your case, I haven't seen what your face looks like. And I would go on the advice of whichever surgeon you pick.

:)

Prices vary between surgeons but can also have a pretty wide range among patients at the same surgeon.  Ethnic background, age, any previous injuries, different goals for outcome, etc.

When I was recovering from FFS 3 weeks ago I met several other patients, none had exactly the same procedures.  I had a relatively simple jawbone shave, others had a more complex sliding metoidioplasty.  I went with a lip lift, most others didn't.  During two in-person evaluations (one in US, one in Europe) both surgeons observed I didn't really need a tracheal shave so I skipped that.  This all affects the cost.

Welcome to Susan's Place. Dr. Keojampa (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=49091) is a member of the forum and while we don't permit spam, we welcome vender who can provide knowledge about their procedures. Estimating a price on something like FFS is a bit risky because with out reviewing the patient, it's not possible to know what work needs to be preformed. You should consider a Skype evaluation or an in office evaluation so you know the work that needs to be done and so you can get an accurate price on the work. From what I have seen on the forum, I suspect that the doctor would be happy to have a discussion with you so consider making direct contact with the doctor.
