Quote from: ChrissyRyan on April 15, 2024, 09:09:42 PMNot just at the three year milestone, but earlier, my face filled out.
My rear has not, thus there is not a 10-12 inch difference between my waist and hips.

Smooth skin?  Or perhaps better said as smoother feeling skin?  Yes, some of that too.  Not to be mistaken with softened hot water and soap when taking a shower, that feels smooth too.

Chrissy

I'm noticing that my face is getting more feminine—-of course because of my intersex condition it never really developed the brow ridges and other masculine features (from what my doctors can tell for most of my life before HRT my testosterone was sitting right on the border of the "crossover" zone where the say if males are in there they have low testosterone but if women are in it then they have high testosterone.  So they figure my natural estrogen during my puberty was doing more than most males—-however I also carried a lot in the stomach so they think a lot of my testosterone was converted to estrogen from the aromatase in my belly fat), so I never had those strong masculine facial features and it also helps explain why I have managed to maintain my early-twenties look when I am in my early-forties.

Last night I was out for dinner with a group I volunteer with, and I'm not out to them, however I just saw a photo on Facebook and I was in the back in the photo, and at first I was like "Who's that woman?  I don't recall seeing her there."  Then I realized that it was me!  The way I had my hair, I really had that feminine look even though I was presenting male.

I got an update on my voice training today.

{Back Story} The VA Trans Care Coordinator submitted a request for the lessons. The request was approved and the Voice Coach at the Iowa City VA called and set up an appointment for my first visit. I was to go to my local VA Clinic and we would do a telemedicine appointment there.

About a week before my appointment, my Care Coordinator said my appointment had to be canceled due to "technical issues". She agreed to look into it and said if the issue could not be resolved, they would give me an iPad so I could do the lessons from home. Our VA Clinic here in Rapid City is brand new. Very modern looking with state-of-the-art technology. I assumed that some IT guy checked the router and ... no router. But such was not the case.

Two weeks went by and I asked my Care Coordinator if they had fixed the "technical issue" yet, and if it was going to take time (ordering parts or whatever), then they should set me up with the iPad and reschedule my appointment.

This morning the Care Coordinator told me that the reason they canceled the appointment was not due to telemedicine connection issues. The problem is that the VA in Rapid City does not have an "agreement" with Iowa City to provide care to me, since I am not a patient of Iowa City VA.  ???

The paperwork has been submitted so that the VA can share my records with the VA and I can be treated by the VA.

Meanwhile, they cannot seem to figure out who is entering someone else's information into my records. Apparently, it is acceptable to reference (in my records) someone who has a different name and a different Medicare account number. Apparently, it is acceptable to allow someone to change my Primary VA Healthcare Facility to places I have never been to. However, when it comes to in-house VA care, they will not allow the VA to access my VA records without an agreement between the VA and the VA.  ???

Fortunately, I have been in contact with our Privacy Officer whose job it is to ensure that medical data is kept confidential. He is quite concerned that I have someone else's data in my records and this is under investigation. I have since had my files marked as "Private" which does nothing to prevent information flowing one way or the other. It causes a log to be created that can trace any information changes so I can find out who requested it.

So other than that, my day is going great.  ;D

It's not specifically LGBT, but the recent abortion ruling in Arizona illustrates how far out of touch that government and the courts are with the will of the people.

Thanks Gina ,I put my arms on the counter and leaning forward push back with my shoulders, that seems to put my back back into shape.  Ended up with a leg of pork, doing pork and mushroom curry and about a 1/3 went in the freezer for another day .
Mum didn't seem with it today, when I said you okay she said her mind was on getting stuff for the garden. I will be keeping a close eye on her, I do worry about her driving as aunty said she drives to the centre line. Mind you my aunty has never driven but is the best driver in the world!! She also said mum is always in a rush to get home, I think its a rush to get away from her! Well she does go on a bit.

Hi!

This is the link to my undergraduate dissertation research survey that the forum administrator (Danielle/ Northern Star Girl) approved:
  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdS9zU_dt3RR1V8-3s_0EnDl6w-jsS6-WOZO41uWeqUP0q_YQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

As pretty much stated in my introduction post:
My name is Sienna, and I'm an undergraduate university student in my third year completing a BSc in Anthropology at the University of Kent. I'm working on my dissertation, looking at languages with grammatical gender (e.g. languages like Italian and Spanish, nouns are either masculine or feminine). I'm curious if this affects/bothers people with gender identities outside the typical binary of male and female, like non-binary or transgender identities. Using this forum, I would be very grateful if anyone could answer the 5 questions I have put together in a Google form, they are open-ended style questions, and you can be as brief or detailed as you want/comfortable with! All responses will also be kept anonymous.

As you can probably guess, I came to online forums because it's not easy to find participants in person. Talking about gender identities, I understand, can be very personal, so this online anonymised format can be safer. :) I've heard this site has people from multiple backgrounds, which is also helpful in my research.

If anyone is also particularly interested in this topic, it would be awesome to message one-on-one and do the Google form survey. Having one and one interviews would also be good research! But NONE of this is compulsory, and only if anyone is interested and doesn't mind helping me out and can do so.

Anti-LGBTQ+ bills keep failing. Could the tide be turning?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/anti-lgbtq-bills-keep-failing-could-the-tide-be-turning/ar-BB1lNWi7?ocid=windirect&cvid=9f9647c1e24c414dbec6a89d9240bdfc&ei=28

Story by Vivian Yin (18 April 2024)

As trans people continue to be targeted in state legislatures, they are finding mundane acts like using public bathrooms and finding new doctors risky, according to a recent poll.

Several advocacy groups, including the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), believe that the movement around anti-LGBTQ+ policies is losing steam.

In Georgia, the battle over anti-LGBTQ+ legislation lasted until the final hours of this past legislative session. In the end, no such bills passed or even made it to a vote in the Georgia House...

"MAGA politicians in Georgia tried it all in service to their anti-LGBTQ+ agenda," said HRC's Georgia State Director Bentley Hudgins in a statement, "including silencing debate and gutting unrelated, popular bills that had bipartisan support to ram through policies that would have put young LGBTQ+ Georgians in harm's way. They failed."

Florida was also unable to avoid the momentum of the political shift. This session, 21 out of 22 anti-LGBTQ+ bills failed. This is a marked improvement from last year, when Florida enacted six anti-LGBTQ+ bills into law. That is more than the seven previous years combined, according to HRC.

All of Kentucky's anti-LGBTQ+ bills also failed this session. Chris Hartman, executive director of the Kentucky LGBTQ+ advocacy group Fairness Campaign, says the success has made him "cautiously optimistic."

Human nature is to gossip. Once you tell a few it will spread like wildfire. They will pretend they didn't know but you will know which ones have heard. Good luck. Having some pre-versed is not always a bad thing.
