Title: Call Me Mel
Post by: pastormel on March 17, 2019, 04:30:20 AM
Hello all,

My name is Mel. That's not short for anything, just Mel. I am a trans-identified genderqueer person. I say it this way because I live in the in between space of male and female. In part, this is because of my marriage...I have chosen a place of compromise that both I and my spouse can thrive with. Also, I am a musician with a particular gift of voice and am not confident in the impacts hormone therapy may have. Thus, I will not "fully" transition female to male. Of course, that also means I will remain outside the newly available medical coverages for the transitions I will engage in physically.

I have been blessed with top surgery just four days ago. It's painful and absolutely right for me.

I am a person of faith, a Christian pastor in Metropolitan Community churches, and an advocate for transgender people, as well as an advocate for diversely abled people. I serve a small church in a small city in the Southwest US.

I am a parent and a spouse.

Good to meet y'all.
-Mel

Hi Mel, and welcome [emoji846].

Congrats on the top surgery, I hope your recovery is a smooth one.

There are many NB and queer members here, and many who choose for one reason or another that some or all of the many medical options available aren't for them.

It sounds like you and your partner have found a healthy balance that works for both of you, and that's great!

Enjoy the site and see you around.

Hi Mel!

I have a similar name, but I cannot mention it here.

I'm jealous!  I wish I had a musical voice.  I'm considering voice training for survival and I'm hoping it might help with my singing voice, as well.

I'm not sure exactly what I am, but I'm thinking after my third FT adventure in living in my female role and then purging after each one, I may settle somewhere in the middle, as well.  AMAB NB/GNC here at the moment. :)

How lucky you are!  My spouses have not been so open about my journey, unfortunately...from both "sides".

Hi @Tribble

Thanks for the welcome. I'm grieved to hear that your spouses haven't been able to support your journey. I am fortunate...unfairly so.

I am grateful for the total support of my decision to live without the either/or.

@Tribble
Dear Tribble:
Thank you for following the suggestions and LINK that I gave to you to come here to the Introductions Forum in my brief Welcome Message when you posted your first time here on the Forums a few days ago on March 15 on another thread.

Now that you have briefly introduced yourself, there are many more members that will be aware of your presence here.  You can now expect to see more interaction and sharing of thoughts and questions with other like minded members.

Please come in and get involved as much as you feel comfortable doing... this is a friendly, safe and happy place to explore your new feelings.
Hopefully you have reviewed the informative LINKS that  @LizK  gave to you at the end of her Welcome Message back in January when you posted for the first time on the Forums.
Look carefully at the LINKS IN RED, they will answer many questions that new members may ask.

Again, Welcome to Susan's Place,
Best Wishes to you,
Danielle
