Louisiana has told the state's public schools to ignore President Joe Biden's newly released Title IX rules prohibiting anti-transgender discrimination that are set to go into effect nationwide on August 1. The state's head of education has hinted at a coming lawsuit against the new rules, and the anti-LGBTQ+ legal organization Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) has already agreed to sue.
In a Monday letter, Louisiana Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley said the new rules "likely conflict" with state laws banning trans athletes from playing on sports teams matching their gender identity, even though Biden's new rules don't mention trans athletes.
Brumley also said the new rules "likely conflict" with two bills in the legislature: one allowing teachers to misgender and deadname trans students, and a second forbidding discussion of LGBTQ+ issues in all grade levels, WVUE-DT reported.
"Brumley has made it very clear through his actions and through his letters that his concern for LGBTQ students is nil," SarahJane Guidry, executive director of the state LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, the Forum for Equality, told the aforementioned news station. "With such a small population of youth being impacted by this, but so harshly and so harmfully, it really goes to question what the motives of these legislators and this administration really is."

My question was whether she's ever been near when someone addressed you as female, and if so, did she react? I ask because the people who've only seen daily, ever-so-slight, incremental change often miss the accumulative, big change.
Back when I was still presenting as male, I attended a workshop with a colleague. Other than her, everyone was else was seeing me for the first time and saw me as female, even though I was presenting as male.
Off to the side, "They see me as female."
"Nah," she replied.
"Just listen," I said.
So, she did, and she heard "she" and "her."
She was astonished. She couldn't see it, i.e. the change in me, but she heard the change in others and understood that they saw it.
I'm wondering if your wife has had a similar experience, because when my colleague did, to the best of her ability, she looked at me anew.

That is great news!
My wife was very accepting so I learned a lot about female socializing from her perspective growing up on the West Coast with sisters.

Hi Gina,
Good on getting a rototiller and being able to fix it!
I just fixed my garden hoses so I don't have a dissimilar metal issues causing the fittings to stick together.
I use a drain spade for gardening. The narrow blade requires a lot less work!
I've learned to garden while squatting so I don't have to bend over to dig out shrubs.

Dominica's High Court has overturned a ban on consensual same-sex relations in the Caribbean island nation.
The court ruled parts of the law that criminalised same-sex activity went against the country's constitution.
A gay man living in Dominica who brought the case said the law violated his constitutional rights.
LGBTQ activists welcomed the decision, hailing it as "a significant milestone in the ongoing struggle for LGBTQ rights in the Caribbean".
The court ruled that sections 14 and 16 of the Sexual Offences Act, which criminalised consensual same-sex activity between adults, were unconstitutional.
Writing in the ruling, Justice Kimberly Cenac-Phulgence said the court found they breached the right to liberty, freedom of expression and protection of personal privacy, as enshrined in the country's constitution.
The anonymous claimant, an openly gay man, stated that the laws had condemned him "to live in constant fear of criminal sanction for engaging in consensual sexual activity" and further argued that these laws incited "hateful and violent conduct towards him and other LGBT persons" which he said prevented him "from living and expressing himself freely and in dignity".

It was near midnight just a couple days before Thanksgiving 2020 when 17-year-old Kayden Asher arrived at yet another temporary home during his yearslong tumble through Texas' chaotic foster care system.
His caseworker had given him just two hours to pack his bags before they drove into the night from a short-term shelter in South Texas to a nondescript building in Austin where foster kids in need of emergency shelter can live temporarily. When Asher arrived, the staff pulled him aside to ask some questions.
"What are your pronouns? Do you feel safe talking about being trans around your caseworker?" Asher recalled them asking.
After his father effectively disowned him years earlier for being transgender, Asher shuffled between caseworkers and temporary guardians. Many of them also refused to accept his identity — until he moved to Austin.
"It was the first placement where I felt accepted, and I felt I belonged," said Asher, now 20.
But in the years since Asher entered and exited the state's care, LGBTQ+ foster kids have lost the little protections and affirmations once afforded to them as Texas' top leaders waged statewide battles that riled public panic about queer people.

I was able to buy a used rototiller very cheap and fix it. This should make my gardening much easer. I find the spade and my back are not good friends as I age. Still doing a lot of trail ridding with my horse, Dundee. Rode over 11 miles on Saturday. I was so sore and tired afterward.
