It was last weekend for me, and a long time before that since I had any.
What are these French Fries. Do you mean chips? ;D
There's one in every crowd...
Thursday would be the last day that I did NOT have French fries. They are the scourge of my waist line.

Cause it's easier to fry freedom than it is a french!
Well over a year ago. Maybe two.
Damn, I love French Fries.
Yesterday!!!
It's been a couple months or so, from a food truck that frequents my work place. The fries are double fried on peanut oil and they'll cover them in almost anything you want, cheese, chili, bbq pork, general tso chicken! They're so good, but I always want to fall into a food coma afterwards.

Yesterday!
Wee Hee!!! ;D Last night?
French fries, Home fries, Steak fries, Chips, they're all just fried potatoes to me - I guess it depends on what I'm making for dinner that night but I usually just call 'em fries, wedges or chips anyway
Hash browns now are a whole other subject LOL >:-)
Do the frozen kind count. Cuz I always keep a bag in the freezer for when I get a craving. Did any one say mayonnaise?
But seriously. 2 weeks ago at McDonalds (and all I ordered was small fries off the value menu.)
I have fond memories of learning about mayonnaise on fries in Germany. Thanks for the throwback! ;D

Strange people in strange places do strange things with their potatoes... I tell ya what >:-)
Yesterday a cis friend named Jessica brought over burger, fries and a shake from four local burger places and performed a blind taste test. It was fun! As far as the topic the steak fries won (or are they chips or crisps or whatever)

What!? When I live out thataway the thing was malt vinegar and salt on fries.
oh to answer the question that would have been friday with the jalapeno poppers and tempura shrimp I deep fried for my sister and I.
Is the question when was the last time you had french fries or is it actually when was the last time the french fries had you? >:-)
Muhwuhahahaha!!!
*Laughs evil laugh then runs away*
Just a few hours ago with mozzeralla cheese. That was my dinner actually

My wife made a pub in London scramble once when she asked them for some chips about 5 minutes before their kitchen closed. She just wanted a bag of Ruffles or whatever. When the fried potatoes came she realized why the bartender had a semi panicked look when she asked for chips.

Mayonnaise is just wrong in the first place but ruining fries with it should be illegal. Even my daughter that puts triple extra mayo on everything does not put it on fries

This is a delight that I picked up in London. Had heard of it before but not really tried it.
Five Guys has malt vinegar available and I usually will go for it.

Contrary to widespread beliefs, the first French fries were not made in France.
They were made in Greece. --No, no, no! The first French fries were not made in Greece,
they were made in grease, Crisco perhaps.
We do not know if the first French fry was a crinkle cut, but it was not a wedgie, that was something kids gave to some unlucky kids in school sometimes. People in the know think that the first French fries were of average cut, skinless, and lightly salted after cooking. They soon became very popular.
They are certainly not hash browns, or tater tots.
An altogether different widespread is the wide spread you can get if you eat too many French fries too often. But they can taste soooo good!

Pommes Frites are from Belgium and are the originals. The best ones are fried twice once at 325 degrees for 5-6 minutes and then refried at 375 degrees for another 2 minutes. This will create the original fry. Nice and crisp.

My daughter and I were driving along and saw a "Fish & Chips" place and she asked what it was. I told her it was old slang for Fish & Fries but used the english reference.
Went on to tell her there used to be a food chain called H. Salts' Fish & Chips and that english people used to wrap the cooked fish and chips in newspapers.

Once every couple weeks I break off of my healthy eating and trying to keep my girlish figure.... and I will go to my favorite coffee shop and have a treat. One place I go to has the best (real) milk shakes and malts. Their Bacon Cheese Burgers are terrific and they serve Curly Fries... I always ask for a little mayo to mix with my ketchup to make "fry sauce". So very good!!
I limit myself to this treat or other treats of similar nature because I don't want to have to buy new bigger clothes!!! ...but when I am able to go, my taste buds are popping!!!

By tomorrow my last time I would have had chips would be tonight. Just yesterday with a nice piece of Haddock. Yum! But they were frozen "fries" that I baked in the oven. Chelsea mentioned Fried Pickles. I love those. My DIL got me started. Double Yum!
I usually have ketchup with my fries, at least 99 percent of the time.
Occasionally there is some marvelous sauce I dip the fries in, and then I skip the ketchup.
Too salty and the fries are ruined. Ditto if too cold or greasy.
I do not care for fancy fries that are laden with spices, or fries that are too hard, burnt, or covered with cheese or marinara.
Just bring me the fries! And no, they do not have to be in a sandwich or in a mexican wrap.
Just bring me the fries! Hold the mayo.

YES, lots of ketchup on my fries.... and not enough salt is not good either..... I like salt on my fries. I also like waffle-fries, curly-fries and tater-tots... and you are correct... I don't want them laden with spices, cheese or anything else... but I don't want them soggy and greasy... crispy is good, but as you stated, not greasy and not cold.
Danielle
Not too greasy, never cold. Crispy on the outside and dipped only in ketchup. Lots more salt on them since spiro.
Not a big fan of curly fries though. Don't think I've ever had any that were crispy but not burnt. They are the last type I had though, its all that Arbys has now. Friday, to answer the thread topic.
Thicker types though, waffle fries or the chip type cottage fries are good "loaded", but real cheese only, never that nasty "cheese" sauce. Chili, cheese, bacon bits, etc.

Yesterday!
Yesterday!
Last Friday night at George's Hall Bar & Grill in Biggleswade.
Today for lunch. I could eat French Fries for every meal, every day and as snacks in between! I bought an air fryer specifically to eat Fries without the big guild feeling!
And I drown them in ketchup to be good to my prostate!
Few months ago
Tuesday. I bake them in the oven without oil. Much healthier than a fryer. Takes about 25-30 minutes. But it's worth waiting for. But fries are part of a whole meal for me. I don't eat fries on their own.

If you like them oven fried, I can only recommend to get an air fryer! That is another small health step above the oven frying (for the case that one considers fries to be remotely healthy), and they are so nice and crisp like those from the deep fryer!
Does anyone like French fries on top of the meat in burgers or in California burritos? I think V M likes the burritos. I have not tried either.
Has anyone dipped fries into milkshakes? I have not tried that either.
Bring forth the good ketchup though!

Yep, I put a few (usually the crispier ones) in my Cali burritos, adds a nice flavorful crunch to them - Haven't had a milkshake in years though
Can't stand ketchup, prefer mustard or just about any other sort of dipping sauce

Well, it has been about a month ago.
Longer than that since some onion rings.
If I could (and not feel guilty), I would eat them daily. My favorite version of potato!
I had some yesterday.
I had some today at a restaurant. Some last night with dinner. I make my own. I have a lot of potatoes this year from the garden. Yukon golds and a blue variety that looks like the purple amethyst when sliced that is fluffy in texture. They both make good French fries.

I had one french fry today. Just one at a buffet. To remember how they can taste.
This one was pretty good and it was a long crinkle cut fry. I resisted fry number two. :)
I am not sure about those buffets. The "all you can eat" for the same price sounds appealing, for sure. The trick is to get your money's worth, yet not eat a lot of food which collectively provide a lot of calories.

I know, calorie counting sucks! You can't eat all the good stuff, because sugar, fat, and salt are taste enhancers, and either sugar or salt are always paired with fat!. Even veggies taste good is enough salt and fat is used to prepare them!
I just started with the counting, and I start to dislike almost every meal!
But I will stick with it! I just bought some real nice jeans, and discovered that I have a muffin top! Terrible!

At least with spiro we can put salt on our salt.
My calorie tracker says my blood pressure should be sky high because of all the salt I eat.

I have frequent blood tests so I've been able to tailor my diet with close medical supervision. I compensate for fat by simply eating less. I order the small fries with my meals. ;D My blood pressure is typically 120/80 even if I salt my food to taste.
I do my best to avoid anything that is a low fat, salt, or calorie version of something. I cook with sugar, soy sauce, butter, salt, bacon fat, and so on... My doctor is perfectly happy with my diet, though she doesn't want me to lose any more weight.

I've craved salt my entire life, yet I was constantly warned to avoid it due to blood pressure problems. So I heard the Hallelujah Chorus when my doc told me my sodium was low and I should eat more of it.
Yes, HRT has changed my life in so many wonderful ways! (Of course, when the spiro goes away after bottom surgery, I'll have to revert to that old bland menu. Fair tradeoff.)

Amazon sells blood pressure monitors for $30 if you want to see what raises your blood pressure.

You may as well use the gauge of your compressor to monitor your blood pressure, they are as accurate. They might be used for trending measurements, for the case their values are consistent.

The homemade ones can be really good. Hey, did you fix your bra problems?
You were going to weld and use fishing line the last time I heard.
If you answered at another thread, tell me where so we do not hijack this one past maybe a quick answer.

I never answered. I found bra band extenders on Amazon. I can now go with a 38, but smaller will not work, because the cups are to close together. 38 B cups are still pretty big, but now I can fill it up a little more with two chicken cutlets each, and it looks right on me.
After loosing some weight, my bandwidth is now down from 44 to something between a 42 and a 40.
If estrogen will reduce some of my muscles in the back, I might be able t get to 40 or even 38. But my problem will still be the distance between my individual boobs. I will have a heck of a time to develop a decent cleavage, unless I get real big hooters!
I had some last week.
Had a few with half a cheeseburger Sunday but wasn't feeling well so I ate the other half of the cheeseburger and reheated the rest of the fries last night

What do you think the best way to reheat fries is? I have not had very good reheated fries.

I think an air fryer might work pretty well with them. I love my air fryer and do a lot of cooking with it!
I had my last fries last night with a "fish 'n chip"s dinner at Harpoon Harry in Punta Gorda on the Fisher Men's Village wharf.

I'd like to get an air fryer, they look rather interesting and less messy

An air fryer might work well. Might get one some day. I have not been eating much potato recently.

Prices for them are going down pretty fast. Mine was still more than $150. But I love it a lot, and have convinced several people to get one. And all of them like the thing. I make everything that needs fried or reheated in them, when reheating in the microwave makes the stuff soggy. One can even bake in those things!

You can make much more than only potatos in them, even Schnitzel would work!
I had some fries at lunch. Odd, as I most often have tofu each day, but not today!

Come into my arms sister, and let us cry together!
I had one (1) French fry yesterday. Just one.
Interestingly, it was not very good. So I did not desire a second one!
