Youtube probably flags Beatles music, so I found the next best thing: one person doing all the harmonies and instruments himself. I love this song and it helped me feel better today. Was feeling down until I heard it somewhere today and found which song it was (I have all the Beatles' songs on my computer). Enjoy!

I am 64 years old, a partial transmale/androgyne, currently teaching ESL in southern Thailand near the beach.
Since I have lived in several countries, I have a wide taste in music, including Thai and K-pop.
Here is a link to one of my fave Thai pop hits from last year, including lyrics in English, phonetic Thai, and written Thai. There is a very long introduction, so singing doesn't start until 2:00 minutes in.

Shout out to my ex - Little Mix
Beethoven Op. 132 quartet right now; the third movement, Molto Adagio – Andante – Heiliger Dankgesang eines Genesenen an die Gottheit, in der lydischen Tonart. Molto adagio – Neue Kraft fühlend. Andante – Molto adagio – Andante–Molto adagio. Mit innigster Empfindung in F Lydian, never fails to make me break down into tears. I'm sobbing right now.
All of the Beethoven quartets, especially the late ones move me intensely. I love comparing the interpretations of the Takacs, Emerson and Tokyo and Amadeus quartets. Without exaggeration, I must have listened to these quartets thousands of times each over my lifetime. I never fail to see new and subtle things in these works.
Today is Beethoven's birthday, B. 12/16/1770. Treat yourself and watch the incredible film from 1994, Immortal Beloved in honor of this incredible soul.

I have pandora playing right now, it is on my metal station. I like listening to it while I play games, which up to recently was World of Warcraft.
Currently "In justice for all" is playing from Metallica.
I'll probably swap over to some other station before too long, I like soundtracks from fantasy movies such as lord of the rings, I have that as another station, then some Celtic style music. Otherwise, I might go to 90s alternative.

REVOLTING COCKS lyrics - Pole Grinder
REVOLTING COCKS
"Pole Grinder"
"Bein' a man or bein' a woman.
Has nothing to do with your genitallia.
It has to do with what's right in your heart.
Man? Or woman? Or both? "
She's got a reason to lie
She's got a reason to cry
How she was born a guy
Kiss your good mother goodbye
Shake it now [3x]
"Why do I dance?
That's a good question.
I'm dancing to pay for my opperation.
Man? Or Woman? Or Both?"
She's got a surprise
She's a he in disguise
Concealing all is wise
Tucking it up to the prize
Shake it now [3x]
Loving it baby
I'm loving myself [3x]
Loving it baby
Yes I'm loving myself
"On the good days I feel like I get it.
Like it all makes sense.
I can stay in the moment.
I don't have to control everything in the future.
On the bad days.
I just wanna grab the phone and start dialing numbers."
(Pole Grinder)
Loving it baby
I'm loving myself
Loving it baby [3x]

Turn it up, it's your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Come on, turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we're free
Drink, this one is on me
We're all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm
It is my desire
Break down the walls to connect, inspire
Ay, up in your high place, liars
Time is ticking for the empire
The truth they feed is feeble
As so many times before
They greed over the people
They stumbling and fumbling
And we're about to riot
They woke up, they woke up the lions

So, why this is more of what I was watching/listening to being a tv show, I thought it was funny enough to mention it here. Not so much for the humor but more the impact.
So, I'm watching the new tv series called AP Bio and the lead character, a guy who use to be on "Always Sunny In Philadelphia", is talking to the female gym coach who's trying to get him do something for school spirit and tells him Patty the Ram (school mascot) is going to get him. He responds, Patty, and she says yes, Patty. He responds all Rams are male to which she replies, he's a trans ram.
Don't really think a lot of people will get that.

Funny, apparently real life vampires actually exist, however they are nothing like the movies obviously. The Guardian did a piece on this awhile back, although I think discovermagazine wrote about it first. If you do some hunting you could find the article. Personally, I would totally befriend a vampire no problem.

I remember when that album came out I bought it the very first day (I always do) and saw, "here's a song by Thomas Bergersen, it's called 'Enchantress.' Hmmm. I already like it." THEN I listened to it XD
I'm weird, I love that fantasy magic stuff and I love Thomas Bergersen so the combination was great and it sounded great too. I digress.
I'm unfamiliar with "Ghost in the Shell." Perhaps I will look it up now.

Yeah, Two Steps From Hell is pretty great! Most people (I could be wrong) are into more mainstream stuff and anything outside of that tends to get shunned. Personally I love all kinds of music and I am willing to give anything a chance! My music taste can get pretty weird though lol.
Anyways, Ghost in the Shell is like a science fiction show/movie that came out back in the 90s I believe. Personally, I like the tv show (Stand Alone Complex) better then the original movie. Ghost in the Shell is awesome though!

There is the one contributing factor to the soundtrack industry genre of music though. Typically they don't WANT their music to become widely known because as soon as a tune is recognizable your attention becomes on that rather than on the mood it is creating for you. Kinda bites, but I was fortunate enough to be brought into it by my cousin many years ago. It seems like a genre you need to get invited into XD It's our secret society of music.
Ps. I recognize the movie after googling it, I just never saw it though. I wish I had the time I used to where I could just watch any show I wanted to whenever I wanted. Things are busy for me right now :(

That is a very interesting style they have. As a film student I have to get upset that it's all shot in the exact same location but whatever XD
As a human, I found it interesting. I thought that guy playing the guitar did the best job on acting robotic, and he's actually playing an instrument unlike the others! So good talent on him.

Yeah, but thanks for posting that song because it was that one that really sparked my interest in them!
Thanks too @Grunt for starting that conversation!
I spent last night just binging as many of their songs and videos as I could. Just found something about them that I really loved, and wonder why I never heard of them before :(
I love their creativity, humor, and steam punk style. And I found bunny to be hugely inspiring to me. So yeah, that post really got me interested in them so thanks!
Ps. yes, I am graduating next month with a degree in video production. So if you need a video you call me :p
Oh wow that is awesome! I am glad you liked them!
That is pretty great that you are graduating! I will make sure to keep you in mind :)
I'm gonna post something different here because I'm building a set for a video shoot and I'm playing some Tchaikovsky at the moment and boy oh boy am I feeling in a good mood right now :icon_joy: :eusa_boohoo:

:D Yay! another Tchaikovsky fan <3 It's a huge debate with me on if he or Wagner is my favorite classical composer.
I have such a fun idea for a video for Waltz of the Flowers. Maybe one day I'll make it. I currently wasn't doing anything THAT incredibly unique. Just getting some shots for a title sequence I'm making. The challenge is all I have for gear is a C100mkii, a Fellix can light, and a bounce disk. Just throwing stuff together I can find in my house with my creativity and knowledge to make it look as cinematic as I can with just that :p I think it went pretty well.
But back to Tchaikovsky, my fav song from him is Capriccio Italien and of course Marche Slave!
I recently actually made a kinetic type lyric video to the last 3.5 minutes of his 1812 Overture too XD Just turned sounds into words.
But idk your thoughts on Wagner, but my favorite song from him is Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral. I kinda consider it the most beautiful piece of music I know. Learned about it in band camp in the summer of my 11th grade. We played it there and instead of a harp they had a huge half a million dollar pipe organ they played on and oh my God the goosebumps of being right in the middle of the sound playing it. It was one of the greatest feelings I've felt and I can't describe it. One of those things I'd do anything to live through again.

I hope you do make that Waltz of The Flowers video someday because that would be awesome! Also, creating a title sequence sounds like a lot of fun actually! Like a saying I just found goes, it's not the equipment that makes an interesting picture, it's the person behind the box that makes it work. Not sure if that saying works for film, but it is worth the shot lol.
That Kinetic Typography lyric video sounds pretty interesting lol. You should totally share it on YouTube!
I have not heard of Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral, but I am glad you shared because it is really beautiful. Huh, this is really great to be honest! I am not just saying that either! Also, a half million dollar pipe organ? That sounds literally amazing to be honest haha. That sounds like a wonderful experience. Lucky you :)

It for sure applies to film! Anyone can buy a $10,000 camera and still produce a crappy video if they don't know what they're doing. Ok, not anyone. I certainly can't afford that XD. I could before I started school but not now. Anyways, yes more gear and more expensive equipment will result in a higher quality image, but really what's more important is are you using what you have to create something interesting that tells a story. Which is why more skilled people can make something cinematic and interesting on an iPhone.
I'm actually kinda sad that Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral isn't more known. Like I've noticed anywhere where I see a Wagner playlist that I listen to, they never have that one on it. I don't know why. It's such a great piece of music.

Wait, wait, wait....wait is that your YouTube channel? Also, that video was super great and well made/done. Did you create the video? Either way it was really fun to watch! Thank you for sharing! If that is your channel then I hope you don't mind if I subscribe to it. I just want to be supportive in someway I guess because I think you are cool and nice and...I am so nervous right now lol.
ANYWAYS lol I am just as surprised that Procession to the Cathedral is not that well known either because it is pretty great.
Wow a $10,000 camera? Well, like you basically said it is the person behind the camera that matters!
So yeah, awesome video!

Yes, that is my channel that I just made recently in school. I don't really publicly announce it much cuz I haven't come out over there yet so...seeing how that goes. But I mean why would you need my permission to subscribe? XD I don't care. It would be helpful more so. But yes, I made that video completely from scratch. Hand made all 840+ layers in After Effects. Animated everything. Only thing I didn't do was compose the song. But why are you nervous??? 0.o
I mean most top end cameras like the Red series are at the very least $10,000. Typically Hollywood is using those kind of cameras. They can shoot 8k footage too :p
And then if you really wanna be crazy you can get a Phantom camera which are typically just for special usage if you need extremely slow motion. The SlowmoGuys, or Mythbusters use those. If a movie needs it, Hollywood will use them too. They shoot thousands of frames per second so you can see a bullet move across space. They typically cost around $100,000 :p
And we're just talking about the cameras. There's all the gear that goes with them, the attachments, lenses, tripods, dollys, lights, location fees, paying crew and actors, set design, renting studio, etc. There's a reason blockbusters cost millions of dollars :p
But anyways, music. Yup.....woo.
That Passanger song I heard prior to you posting it when I was looking into them btw.

Well thanks. Honestly, creating illustrations is a little bit on the end of my weaker skills. I mean I can do it, but you're probably much better than me at it. My friend in school is pretty good at it though. You'd be like the kind of person who would make the characters for me and then I'd be the person who would animate them for you.

Technically I did have an idea for a cartoon for I think 2 years now for Dark Souls 3 but it would be a huge project. It would probably take over a year to finish because I don't have all the free time in the world. But always thought it would be cool to have an illustrator make the characters for me and then I took care of the rest. But, if you were for real more curious about it we should talk in PM cuz that's way off topic.

Oh, okay that is cool. Self actualization is great...right? I actually do not know what that means, but google makes it sound positive so that is good!
Basically I am daydreaming but also learning a lot about myself and my gender in the process. Self-actualization is a kind of weird and nebulous concept, but it kind of boils down to coming into your own and also being in the mindset that you are coming into your own. So it is about learning, but also feeling like you are a smart confident person who is progressing in their life. That is one laywoman's opinion anyway.
Let's got lost just seems so appropriate because finding my gender felt like falling in love with myself. Which is a feeling I have never really had. I always loved myself but i was never in love with myself.
In the song its kind of about this feeling of we are so in love even though we just met that I just want to be with you and tell the whole world. Even though I've known this woman my whole life, the entire world is seen through new eyes so it almost feels like I am meeting my life for the first time and falling in love and i just feel beautiful now and I've never been happier. Now I'm getting all teary-eyed, jeez :')

That Mozart dub-step song instantly made me remember a record my dad had that I liked to listen to when I was little. It was the same concept of making classical music electronically only this was done in 1972 on a Moog (which is like the first of synthesizers). It is cool to see how technology has evolved. But yeah, here's a sample of the pioneer's music :p

@Drexy/Drex Thanks Drexy, when I was 14yo, I went tramping through the beautiful and serene NZ bush with 5 others, we took along a portable stereo (ghetto blaster) and multiple extra batteries. In our 3 day tramp we had the following music blaring at top volume.

I've been having a hard time lately with my SO, and along with the personal support I've been getting from some friends on Susan's Place, I've been finding the new music I've been listening to really uplifting and comforting, and I wouldn't have found it without this thread,

Always happy to introduce people to new music they like! Music is playing 70% of my average day, so I have quite a selection. Alissa is an extremely talented singer.
The band is super freaking cool, as well. People say she's mean, but that's mainly sexist men with crappy opinions who direspected her, and/or focused on her being a girl too much. I like that she's not afraid to speak her mind and doesn't tolerate or validate it.
When I met them in 2016 on tour, the first thing she did she gave me an awesome hug, and was really genuine and personable, asking about me, and encouraging me as a female in my own pursuits. The rest of the band members, being amazingly talented musicians with years of experience, were also super cool and chill and very respectful. <3 If you have a chance to see them at a show, I definitely recommend it.

@DustKitten HAHA - I have a very eclectic mix of music, from movie sountracks all the way through to death metal, but loud & energetic is my favourite. But my darkside is definitely broadening lately!! Thx
Sonja.
One of my favourite bands : Sepultura : Dead embyonic cells
I've found a ton of people have super eclectic tastes, but it never seems to surface in conversation. Most of my friends are extreme metal musicians, and these are the same guys that'll mix Cannibal Corpse and Phil Collins in the same playlist.
Some days, you need Sutekh Hexen to drown everything out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ym4KdVbfYA
Some days you need Missing Persons just because:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80WyBxo0Hto
That Sepultura song reminds me a bit of old-school thrash metal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX_bRFrpRt8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX_bRFrpRt8)
Ahhh I see, they were an 80s thrash metal band :P silly me, of course they sound that way.
Sutekh Hexen sounds AWESOME! And yes, I agree completely; Collins' cover of "You Can't Hurry Love" is a personal favorite of mine. :D I would NOT put them in the same playlist though. 'Twould be madness!

I'm besties with RabbitSpectre. Well, there was that one time that she tried to kill me for 7 days straight when I posed on a bear skin rug. (lesson learned!) But heeey! water under the bridge! SO! Sonja, once you get a costume and a few outings under your belt, Join X-Force! I have theeeee PARFEKT welcoming cake idea, where in order to cut pieces for everyone you have to slice through the gender binary and societiy's bs, ooh! and maybe a pinata stuffed with vegan sweets of Cable in a chocolate filled space diaper. <3 :D"
;D Sorry, he does that. XD Hey! Go back to your lair and finish that painting you promised me of Vegan Black Metal Chef mudwrestling Butters on the front lawn of a house made of puked rainbows and contemplated skittles. You don't like the new lineup? I know it's not original canon, and the first X-Force with Cable was pretty awesome, but I really like the reboot! I think they brought underrated and fresh characters to life. I also like that despite a few hiccups, they made the most ridiculous character in comic book history actually kinda cool and equality-minded. :)
Shake a leg, AC/DC.
One of the few Brian Johnson songs I like.

As the lead high note in this song resonates with the harmonic acoustics of my bathroom (multiples the intensity of the sound by 2-4 times), I am certain my neighbors enjoy it when I sing this in the shower. XD

Love Christian Death. In my old home town there was this small record store, and I was the only person to ever buy Christian Death albums from them. Got to the point where they'd call me up whenever they got some in, since they knew no one else would ever buy it.

"We carrying heavy coffin to the grave
We burying awesome guy
We laugh and joking
About his stupid face
Hey! Hey! All family
Brothers and friends
Send off this guy
Crying and rofling
Watering him with vodka
Kissing him in his face.
HEY!
Lala! Lula! Lala! Lula!
The inspirer of this parade
Wasn't a fool, he left how it had to be
And his babe so glad he didn't shoot her!
Hey! Hey! All family
Brothers and friends
Send off this guy
Crying and rofling
Watering him with vodka
Kissing him in his face.
HEY!
He loved his dog,
His babe and a good fight.
He hated tears
And if he'd saw one
He'd became enraged
Took his pistol
And cry by himself
And shoot every tear."

Well I tried that but it ends up not showing the link or the big picture you click to get to the song.
I copied the link and put it in a Web browser and it brings up the YouTube music video just fine.
What is odd is in the PREVIEW screen before I click POST, it shows what looks like a clickable underlined link. After I click POST it makes a new message that takes up a lot of space, but the picture nor the link shows up. So I deleted my post.
Maybe I cannot post links. Thanks though. I will try again sometime.

I prefer to be very feminine and girly girl. As a guy I spend most of my time in jeans and tee's. I want to be very feminine and pretty.
Lisa
I understand that completely! Jeans and Ts are not ultrafeminine per se, but you certainly have noticed in your life many attractive, feminine women wearing them and sneakers. Yes, guys wear them too but a shapely girl sure fills them out better!
Focusing back to the topic of this thread, I am listening to: Lady Antebellum singing: "American Honey"
I'm listening to a long playlist of Taylor Swift songs, currently playing "Should've Said No".
Safe and Sound as sung by Taylor Swift.
I have to admit I enjoy her earlier music generally more than the new music first sung later in her career.
Chrissy
It seems that nowadays I'm almost always listening to female singers(and wishing I had a voice like theirs). At the moment Florence and The Machine - Ship To Wreck is playing. The How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful and High as Hopes albums are on the playlist now.
A woman that had a beautiful voice was Karen Carpenter.
Listen to all of Let Me Be the One as sung by the Carpenters.
I am listening to For All We Know as sung by the Carpenters.
Karen Carpenter's voice is an absolutely stunning alto.

I'm lucky in my natural hair is almost the same color as Kelly and I am proud of that. I just wish every other part of me could be as feminine.
My sister looks something like Natasha does. ::) I don't know what that means for me? I doubt at 29 that I will change in the way I would have at 12.

Hilary Duff - What Dreams Are Made Of from The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003) (Search it's on YouTube)
Not the unremarkable soundtrack album version of this song, which sounds different from the far better version of this song in the clip from the movie, where Lizzie starts out performing with Isabella, then Isabella leaves. They both happen to look a look a lot like Hilary Duff. :)
Some people call this the "Hey Now" song, you can hear why. The movie clip makes the song better, as you can see and hear Lizzie gaining confidence as she proceeds with her singing and has a good time performing with dancers in front of an appreciative and warmly welcoming crowd.

It is isn't it. You should see the music video for I want to break free. They are in drag and I did a double take when I realized that the one girl was actually Rodger Taylor.
Roger Taylor certainly got the prettiest make-over. But Freddie? I find him slightly disconcerting to watch in the MV. I think it's the combination of pointy bra and moustache. ;D

When they are at their best, they are legendary. Some of their post 2000 albums I find forgettable and disappointing.
But Songs of Innocence is
amazingly good. And they gave it away for free on iTunes!
~Dee.
I like the older classic U2. I've got two of their post 2000 albums. They are more or less forgettable albums.
Lisa
I know what you mean Lisa, but if you haven't given Songs of Innocence a good listen, I would encourage you to try it again. That whole album just makes me happy and want to sing and dance.

Dee, I will check it out.

Hi
Raell, I am very pleased to see someone here who also listens to Asian Pop. Kpop and Jpop is what I listen to most when in the mood for for that style of music. Like you I listen to many different styles.
Enjoyed the song you linked to.

Oh yes and you are also it seems using either Faye from Cowboy Bebop or Misato. Which of course is who I had as my avatar before posting an older photo of me.
It's funny because I can relate to her. I'm professionally accomplished and also pretty handy with a 40mm full frame pistol too and yet a complete screw up on a personal level.
I was actually planning to purchase a costume of her outfit and use it for Halloween next year.

That would be a great costume. It's Misato. That anime changed my life. Not in a concrete way that I can describe, but on a metaphysical level everytime I watch it I feel like I am opened to new experiences and ways of thinking. Misato and Ritsuko are my messed up (fictional) heroes.
Cowboy Bebop is cool too, but not nearly as much as Evangelion.

Thanks I'll share my photo as soon as I'm able to wear it without looking fat. Probably around April or May.
I was in college when I discovered it. Back in the day I had a few music videos I made with it using Korn's Trash, Make Me Bad, Falling away From Me and Three Days Grace's Animal I've Become and Riot.
It was a dark period for me but I was really impressed with how she handled herself and in many ways she's a role model for coming to terms with strength, brains and authority but not having to be some sort of robot or impersonal mute.

Yes it did. It proved that woman can offer more then being a Mom and that woman can be intelligent and strong. This coming off of playing Xenogears several years earlier which was another awesome piece of art that was thought provoking.
Yes I did. I was using G5 machines in the computer lab with Final Cut Pro 4 and Pro Tools at Savannah College of Art & Design. It's actually how I got so hooked on Macs even though I could not afford one of my own for many years later.
Another project for sound design was to dub sound effects over a scene of a movie. I chose Blade Runner when Rick Dekard was hunting Pris and mixed it up with Marilyn Manson's Apple of Sodom. I added in some effects and played up the storm. It worked on many levels but ultimately it was me struggling with myself.

Well lately I've been at my grandparents house helping my grandma put away her Christmas stuff and getting her house back in order so I've been subjected to her old music. But as long as she doesn't put on her German music I'm fine. By German music I mean music sung in German. Again the harshness of the German language shines through. A love song in German sounds like death metal. Lol. And before anyone starts saying I'm German bashing, I am, but I AM German, half anyway, so I'm not racist against Germans or anything. But I have to say I kind of like some of her English oldies. Wonder boy by Leslie Gore, five a clock world by the vogues and reflections by Diana Ross are some of the ones I like.

In case you aren't familiar with Hedwig and the Angry Inch, it's probably worth mentioning that this story is NOT about a transsexual woman, even though it's presented as if it is. What it's really about is one gay man's journey to finding self-acceptance after a very lengthy detour.
However, "Hedwig" is a beautifully crafted film that explores gender and identity in an absolutely fearless and delightfully refreshing way. It's hilarious and deeply moving, and the fantastic soundtrack by Stephen Trask and John Cameron Mitchell is simply wonderful.
Absolutely worth seeing for absolutely everyone, IMHO.

I like that one. Especially early in the morning with a cup of coffee, sitting on the sofa, enjoying the view of the lake through the back window.

Billy Joel hit nailed today's (well, recent) headlines In "Piano Man".... " the waitress is practicing politics while the businessmen slowly get stoned". For those who missed it, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a waitress elected into the US Congress and Elon Musk (Sept 7,2018) got stoned during Joe Rogan's podcast.
Just the Way You Are
Yes, a lovely song. (I have loved Billy Joel since 1985)
