Title: Breasts really sore from binding?
Post by: andio on December 27, 2016, 10:31:32 AM
Long story short, the binder I bought a few months ago ended up being way too small. I wore it about twice, but that's it. And since then—and sometime before that too—I've been using the sports bra and vest method of binding, however recently doing so has been very painful. It's true that I've been doing this since about October now, but I read it was relatively safe, and I really don't have big a chest at all. My ribs hurt while and for a little after I bind like this, but it's mostly my breasts that are killing me. It could be hormones, but I doubt it, and frankly put worried that I won't be able to wear the new binder I ordered. Could anyone help me out?

I don't really have a big chest but found the sports bra method slightest painful too. Have you tried GC2B binders? I found them the most comfortable and completely painless. Although you have to make sure you measure yourself correctly to get the correct size.

If your ribs are hurting, you really need to give your body a break. Spend some time out of the binder even if it mean a day or 2 of being 'sick'. It would be worthwhile bringing up to your doctor also. Some insurance will take that as a need to have top surgery and cover it that way.

Pain is the body's way of saying this isn't working and to try something else. Don't ignore it, because then you start doing damage.

This. I would take a break from binding for a few days and see if that helps. I would also look into getting a properly sized binder.

First you should go to the doctor and have them check out your ribs
to make sure they are alright. I had to do this once because the binding was hurting my ribs and i wanted to be double safe and turns out it was just a bruised rib i was told to take a brake from binding and that's what i did shortly after i was doing fine and binding again. So get it checked out to make sure you're okay and for the moment i'd consider taking a brake from binding until you can get the doctors advice. I'm sure it'll be alright and i know it can suck but it'll suck more if you continue and something happens so getting it checked can help for the future and possibly stop a problem form happening or help a possible problem.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here but my oldest child is AFAB non-binary and presents in a more androgynous fashion.  If you're having pain from binding, something is wrong and I would recommend trying a different method. Someone mentioned seeing a doctor, if you're comfortable talking to your doctor about it, that might be a really good option.
