Title: US: Did you vote or plan to vote today?
Post by: LostInTime on November 07, 2006, 07:59:39 AM
I went in this AM, about an hour after the polls opened.  Walked in, got stared at (since the state and I are at war over the name I have to try and look male, I fail.), and voted.  Living where I am the choices are usually for either the conservative republican or the conservative democrat but at least I voted.

I even got to cast a vote against the person who started my troubles with the name change.  I doubt she will be voted out as her opponent was someone that was unaffiliated with a party.

So how many have voted already or definitely will tonight?

I voted two weeks ago.  I love voting by mail.  I never miss an election and I never have to go find our polling place and wait in line.

Of course, out here in the boonies, the poll would likely be 15 miles away and I'd have to stand in line behind the cows... at least they would be happy California cows. ;)

I was all to eager to vote in this election.  It was the first time in my entire life that I voted a straight ticket.  I'm voting for people who are most likely to support US.... you know we the TG people of these United States of Divisiveness.

Here's a piece of trivia for everyone who is still reading.  Back when Lincoln was elected, the Republican party was the party for the minorities and the little guy.  They were concerned about human rights and feeding the poor. The Democratic party back then was the party of commerce and business.  Since then, they have changed significantly.  So the next time someone tells you that they are a "Lincoln Republican"... go ahead... call them on it.

  Republicans need not apply.

I don't think I got a ballot in the mail. :(  That's the only way it can be done here.  I'll look through everything again tonight, but I think they screwed up.

I voted right away this morning and also voted a straight ticket for the first time
in my life.  The idea that war in Iraq was right or that we're safer from terrorism is
Republican PR nonsense.  The Republicans don't stand for anything but corporate
America, the oil companies, the obscenely rich, and the evangelical right at the
expense of everyone else.

I have voted in every election since I was 18 (that is a lot of elections).  I voted by mail this year about two weeks ago.

I WANT to vote but I can't get to my voting place.  My rommate was going to drive me but he left without me, and my bf is out of town.

Mikko,

You can call your local democratic (or republican) party headquarters and they will usually send someone to give you a ride to the polls and back.

Voted by mail 2 weeks ago.

Democratic except for our unopposed Republican County Clerk who does a good job and steers away from politics.

I'm concerned that the Democratic part of my state is under 13 inches of rain.

We voted by mail about ten days ago, mostly democrat, as usual, however as always I have to look at the person, not the party.  I remember that George Wallace was a democrat, for goodness sake!

I believe it is my civic duty to cast my vote--

Even if it "doesn't count",

Even if it isn't counted,

I will cast a ballot

And I will cast it as far away from the bastards as I can (meaning I will vote my conscience and try to elect people who will represent my morals, beliefs and ideals.

As a Californian, I voted at the diningroom table.  I did it on Saturday.  I researched the candidates and issues according to my my morals, beliefs and ideals as best I could using the internet.

I attached 63 cents postage to the purple envelope and took it to the post office.

I wished I could cast votes against certain candidates and referendums.

Did I vote ReDemoPubliCrat?  Nope -- Conscience.

It appears that the Democrats did well and there was higher than expected turnout in many places.  Also problems with the new voting machines (not unexpected, change can be a real pain).

I also vote for the person or try to anyway.  If there is little difference between the two I go by how much damage or good the current parties have done and go from there.  As I said before all of the candidates were touting being conservative, spiritual, and for "family values" (we know what that means).

A friend of mine was very happy to see the Democrats and is one of those yellow dog Democrats.  If they manage to take the Senate too he should be very happy for awhile.

Haven't missed an election since I became a full citizen.

As a Republican, I voted almost straight Democrat.  The only Republican vote was for state comptroller.  He has some difficulty understanding that it is illegal to use a state employee to drive his wife around.
