I love wearing a bra. I wear one around all the time even though I'm not full time yet. I'm kind of waiting to see if my face changes. I'm lucky to have pretty noticeable breasts because before I started HRT I had male breast development from anti depressants. I love the way my breasts fit in the cup. When I walk around my apt. with just the bra on it feels really nice.
actually, I wear a bra almost everyday , is the normal but sometimes I stay at home braless and feel free XD...

I'm going to enjoy wearing one in public, but in private, I'm gonna have to learn how to keep my hands offa them, i won't even try to keep my shirt on, cause thats not happening.

In a word, yes.
Part of my internal body sense often involves a feeling of having a woman's physique in spite of being apparently 'male bodied'. This is an immediately physical experience - female skin, female shape, female size, and so on. It does not include anything 'external' such as clothing or accessories, minus a bra.
So part of my internal body sense includes the sensation of wearing a bra. When I actually put one one, then, the sense of congruence is wonderful on several levels.
I was on a breast growth supplement for about 6months and eventually had to stop because of finances. I can't let them grow too much either to the point that it's obvious I have boobs. So what I've grown so far wearing a bra is necessary. A lot of bumpy roads and it's actually annoying having my boobs bouncing all the time and rubbing my nipples raw from the inside of my shirt. A simple sports bra solves both issues and I get to feel a tad bit feminine every day all day. And the feeling when I take it off when I'm home is just as wonderful.
I really used to like them, but the larger my breasts get the less I like wearing them.
Like, isn't the word I would use, its just part of being a woman. I wear a bra any time I am out of the house, but don't always wear it around the house.
I don't like bras. The only reason I wear one is because of of social pressure. They're really just another way that women's bodies are fetishized.

Agree. They're not really that comfortable and they're pretty annoying.

Of course, I like the idea of wearing a bra and actually needing one to stop my boobs from moving all the time they want makes me feel great...but I think a bra is as comfortable as using a tie!

I don't know ,I guess my bra fits pretty good because It just comfortable.
I love wearing my bras and wear them all day every day they fit really well and are so comfortable and also helps my dysphoria by making me feel feminine.

I don't find them uncomfortable, my problem is I get too hot wearing one.
Can't say I especially like it...but even with the little ones I have it helps to leave it on if I am going to do chores and such....walking up and down stairs is quite noticeable....I have no idea how women with even a large B cup can walk around without any support....or worse yet work out or run!!
I do have children so if I walk around without a bra and I'm not wearing a sweatshirt or something thicker....my headlights always show :-O

I still think it's fun to wear lingerie even though it's often less comfortable than a normal bra/panty combo. Kind of like putting on a pair of high heels versus my usual comfy flats.
God no. I hate em. If I could get away with not, I would. I especially hate when you raise your arms and the stupid thing rides. Or when the shoulder straps seem to adjust themselves. Or if you lean over some certain way and the wire moves and your boobs move out of the sides of the cups a little bit. Or simply the feeling of the straps themselves is less comfortable than without.
At first I used to love it because it felt edgy. Now I just have to pray when I put the thing on it doesn't bother me later in the day to make me adjust it too much. When I get home I hope my roommate has no company so I can take the stupid thing off.
At home or a quick run to the little store, No I don't wear one. Another time, yes. As someone said it is social convention.

I always wear a bra in public, and sometimes at home too, but I'll be the first to admit that once in awhile it starts riding up under my girls and it's always in public when it happens. Then I want to scream, but truthfully, I enjoy it most of the time. One thing that bugged me and a lot of other women on a site I no longer visit is that a moderator said in no uncertain terms that if you didn't take it off immediately after you got home you were essentially a crossdresser, which I found amusingly offensive.
Like having the two reasons that cause me to wear a bra, and I'm glad I really need one. But it's unhooked and tossed aside when I get home.

I'm still using the bra that I ordered off of the internet quite a while ago. The sizing was an educated guess but I seemed to have gotten pretty close with it and as time passes I'm filling it a lot better. With incessant adjustments I've finally got the shoulder strap slipping off thing lessened, but it's not perfect.
So right now my experience is that wearing it is aggravating due to the slipping straps and the band does get less comfortable as the day goes by. It's a nice feeling to pull it off at the end of the day. It does make me look more curvy and femme, and I've now officially joined the sisterhood of women that have to put up with a bra so that's progress LOL.
I'm holding off on getting a new one until I grow out of this one, and that leads me to a question to those who might know: I saw a post here earlier where a person had encountered resistance when she went into a few different stores for a bra fitting - is that a usual experience for trans women? I'd like to have a professional fitting on the next one, but I don't want to be embarrassed if I'm at the risk of being thrown out of the bra department because someone clocks me as MTF.

I'd say as long as you go to a big store you'll be fine, most would fear repercussions from the community and so wouldent kick ya out, so don't worry hun.

But I'm still on the closet and I think a bra will be quite noticeable under a t-shirt, right? Here it is summer and I can only wear t-shirts or I will end melting up. Is there any way I can wear a bra and no one really notice?

Here's what I'd do, dress in layers, like wear a jacket or something, and tis the season right?
If your bra is uncomfortable, you're not wearing the right one. I tend to forget I'm wearing one.

You could always try a training bra, they don't have cups, and it gets you used to wearing a bra.

I hope my camis come in soon - ordered some on sale (L & XL)... I have no reason to wear a bra yet (though maybe I could fit into a 36A or 38A).
I certainly don't love wearing a bra, but I can't say as I dislike it. It keeps those big ole babies from flopping around all them time ;). I'm kidding, there. Actually, I'm so small I can go without one, but I try to wear one often because I believe they help maintain breast a more feminine shape. I don't think there's any scientific proof of that, but it makes sense to me. My only problem with them is that I'm long waisted, but skinny, so straps tend to be too short. I have to shop around to find a good fit.
I am getting to the point to where I need to wear one. But right now the ladies are complaining so I don't. I just have a cami on under my shirt. A couple more months and I won't have much choice - i hope. ;D I am sure there will come a point where I don't like them.

I'm rather small up there, but when I'm at home I love wearing a comfy daybra without underwire and over that a tight cotton tank top. The bra makes me feel kind of sexy and normal. Very girlie.
i loooove wearing a bra! feels so natural. been in the closet a long time off and on. only recently has the pink fog returned but this time beyond the usual panties and hose, i have discovered bras. don't know why i kind of ignored them before. i remember how sometimes friends would grab my breasts from under my shirt and yell 'boobies' but inside i liked that. i have found, after a pro fitting last year, that i am a b cup although a large a is probably more like it but i have become more more adventuresome going out wearing a bra, especially a 36b under my blouse (which i have also begun to buy) or shirt. i know wanting bigger breasts is no reason for hrt but i do want bigger rounder breasts... i am in a quandary. i love hose and pumps too. always looking at women to see how they're dressed and wanting to be like them. think sometimes i should have been born a girl... sigh
No, I love wearing a bra and having two special reasons to do so. It feels great! Sure bras get hot and fussy and it is also a delight to wear sheer tops and go braless. For me this a dream come true. I love looking down to see myself or giving the girls a squeeze. Pure indulgent pleasure and all mine! And yes, i do share with my wife.
Athough my little girls are only beginning to bud, other than to offer them a bit of protection from the cold or un expected bumps i have enough muscle left to hold them up so far, i cant wait for them to get a bit more along a full cup but i do like to take of them and if it requires support then i will wear one much more often than I do now. when out playing on the quads or hiking i really like to have a bra on, just beating home not very often if at all, when I am out in public then i wear one. so kind of mixed about them, haveiing a proper fit and design really makes a big difference.

I did at first, but a few months into HRT it became the first thing I took off when I got home, along with the rest of my work outfit. :) They're not super uncomfortable, but I still prefer the feeling of freedom without one.
(As for fittings, I can't recommend Nordstrom's enough; I've heard only wonderful reviews of them, including from cross-dressers and openly trans women. I keep meaning to go back there - the bras I got at the last fitting are getting too tight.)
One of the very first things I did to combat my depression about how long I was going to have to wait to get into therapy and through the medical approvals was to stealth-wear a seamless bra. It was extremely comfortable and made me feel better because I was doing something towards my transition while I waited, other than growing out my hair. I did that for about 10 months solid before I was making enough other personal progress at that time that I felt it wasn't necessary every day. Right now it only goes on when I'm out en femme once or twice a week. I won't be doing it regularly again until I have something natural to fill it with.
A bra can be very comfortable and it kinda feels like a warm hug to me. It creates a sense that something is very right. As I develop it will become all the more welcome as I really don't like the sense that fake boobs feel like a costume. It's been wonderful to get me through the tough times but I can't wait for the day that I'm all-natural. There are some extraordinarily sexy clothes and undergarments out there that I can't wear properly yet. Tank tops and bikini tops are dreams I await to fulfill.
Yeah, I enjoy wearing a bra, and i enjoy the way it feels around my body and the way it pulls in my breast when I breath just right. :) I agree with Violet bloom that it feels like a warm hug at times. :)
I would rather not wear a bra for two reasons. First, it feels so nice without one. Second, there is considerable statistical evidence that wearing a bra for long periods of time may be related to breast cancer. (In 3rd world countries where wearing a bra is very uncommon, they have a near-zero rate of breast cancer.)
On the other hand, I often DO wear a bra because:
1 - I have 'permanent high-beams' so it's either a bra or pasties!
2 - With 44DD's, if I don't wear a bra, I get sweaty in the crease and that can get stinky after awhile
3 - Any activity that creates bounce gets painful in a hurry
4 - With the right bra, the DD's look GREAT! LOL!
Now that my chest is starting to respond to HRT I got worried about my work situation. I can't be showing off hard, pointy buds if they develop whether or not I come out to everyone, so today I bought a compression sports bra. Most of the selection at the store wasn't going to cut it because they were too stretchy or had too much of a rounded cup form. I settled on an Adidas TechFit and also got a size smaller than I would have measured for a little flattening insurance. Despite the extra tightness it is still extremely comfortable and won't be noticed under a tee-shirt. If I want to do some jogging or impact workout then I'll be all set too. As suggested by someone here, it is lightly padded for a bit of protection against bumping into things.
Yes and no, but it is pretty much a necessity at this point so it doesn't really matter if I like it or not... It's just part of the deal now and the girls need the support... I actually do feel kinda weird without one anymore though and I use to love going bra less when I just had lil' perkies :D
It also depends on the occasion and the outfit, I mostly wear bra top camis for everyday and a bra for more dressier stuff
It will be a great day when my breasts are big enough to need a bra!! 3 months HRT & they are growing some however I'm no where close to shopping in the bra section at Walmart. Long ago I wore bras & used silicone breast inserts to present a nicer figure however since my own are growing some it does seem important for now.
38Ds (though these are from implants rather than HRT), transitioned at 23 (now 33) and I don't even own a bra. I don't even wear a sports bra or anything for support while running as I don't need it. :)

I just love wearing and owning Bras, I have implants which are very firm, so I could get away without a bra. Thing is they are such a feminine garment that I just don't feel right without one.
I seem to remember emulating one, if that's the word, with a rectangular piece of brown satin material, simply by gathering the middle together and binding a lace around tied in a bow to make the two cups, when I was about twelve, after drooling over a picture of Diana Dors a 50s British film star.
Anyway, with my give away male facial bone structure, a bra dose come in useful when I'm out and about. I get a lot of confidence out of showing cleavage, both winter and summer when I'm out. If they do a double talk on me thinking "Oh my gosh that's a man" I usually smile as they clock my cleavage, and all is forgiven. I just adore a nice plunge bra worn with a bra enhancer to give it even more lift, and as an added bonus I get to make loads of new generic girlfriends.

On the other hand I can say that as long as I am not jogging a bra is a great place to clip my little Kel Tec 32 caliber and wear almost anything without anyone knowing I am carrying a gun. Well I take that back there has bee a few times people have given me a hug and then asked what was between my boobs. I told them my phone.

Honestly, it's gotten to the point where I forget I'am even wearing a bra, same with undies.
I like looking nice in a bra, but honestly I wish I didnt need one at all. A nice fitting bra is very comfy and nice though.
I definitely need something when running now and it is good to have something like a shock absorber, and it makes my boobs look good, so I guess overall I tolerate my bras. ;D

At first, I enjoyed it because it felt like I was affirming my femininity. It was a status symbol to many of my friends, it was the object that made them keenly aware that I was serious about "this transition business"...
Now I appreciate it because when I try to go "boy-mode" I feel my breasts bounce and jiggle... and then they start to hurt! Not that taking my bra off when I'm at home hasn't become the equivalent of taking off my shoes back before transition. :)
I find the best feeling in the world is when you've worn your bra all day and your going through an extreme itching cycle to just sit down take off the bra and message your breasts

I did initially because it was affirming, then just went to cotton tank tops sans bra, but now I can't leave home without it and have several styles to accommodate whatever mode of dress I'm in.

I have a love/hate relationship with bras. The ones that look good never fit right or are painful or uncomfortable, and the ones that are comfortable (almost) never look good. After spending I don't know how much money on all kinds of bras, I have only found a few that I can bear wearing for more than a few hours.
The women on both sides of my family tend to be larger in the chest area, D's or bigger, so I am hoping to get some good results, but I will honestly be happy with whatever I end up with. My figure has definitely come a long way since I started! I just wish I could find bras that didn't make me feel like I was being tortured.... lol.

I have a few bras that although I love the cut and the look, if I have to go grocery shopping they drive me crazy when I have to reach up high for something. I've had the same two bras run up my breasts, one so bad it was just below my left nipple from reaching way up and out while shopping. Luckily, the area of the supermarket I was in was deserted, because I had to adjust, pull, wiggle, and do them all over again a few more times before it was bearable. Thankfully, I was going straight home from shopping. So, yes, I hate it, and no, I love it. Or yes, I love it, and no, I hate it.
My mother-in-law hated wearing a bra and went without for years, over time her boobs reminded me of windshield wipers on a school bus going back and forth under her blouse. Now she claims that a bra would do her little good and perhaps a belt would be better! :D ;D Eventually gravity, activity and loss of skin elasticity and they will go south.
Piece of advice to any newly-transitioning girls who are going to amusement parks this summer... if you're planning on riding wooden roller-coasters, you have to wear a bra. Trust me. Boobs are relatively manageable at 1 G. But at 3 G's, with the force of the car bouncing you up and down for like an entire minute straight... OW!!! :embarrassed: Trust me, you'll be grateful for your bra then...
I agree with the gravity statement, seeing the results first hand of CIS women being physically active and NOT wearing a bra.....they certainly do go south and then require a bra just to look decent in public.

I don't believe it, though mine are implants and I'm still young, I never wear a bra or even a support cami or anything like it and have ZERO sag at all.
My bra is my armour and I love wearing one, except when I love not wearing one. Either way, I love my boobies! :P
Now that I have something real to put in a bra, I love wearing one, mainly for the protection as they are very sensitive but I simply love wearing one now because I need to. I have some very nice comfy ones that after a while I hardly notice but I do. ;D

Nice set (of four)! ;) I'm not wishing for anywhere near that large though. Actually enjoying my 'freedom' in the early days while I can still get away with it. I probably won't get one last summer without having to wear one though. If I could achieve just enough size to actually 'anchor' my bra cups then I'd be happy. Otherwise it just shifts around too much and won't sit right. For now sports bras will keep me comfy and happy.

Very pretty! I am also a big Victoria's Secret fan and have an account with them, alas though they don't make bras with bands big enough to accommodate me. I do purchase a lot of their tops and recently bought half a dozen long sleeved cotton Henley tops from the women's section at Duluth Trading of all places because they are pre-shrunk, color fast and two inches longer then average ("to cover the butt crack", the comment on their hilarious TV commercials :D) and they cling and show off my shape well.
Unfortunately, I don't have enough growth to justify wearing a bra. Genetics isn't on my side in this one either. Can't afford a BA (or the required life long maintenance so there's nothing that can be done about it.)

I have one similar to the last one (Chantelle). It's great for an evening out and nice support when dancing. Looks great with a cami under my blouse. However, after 10 hours or so, I begin to feel the pattern rubbing wrong and the girls get irritated, even through this lining that is on the inside of the lace. I do love wearing one but comfort is important.

I feel naked without one, and I haven't even started HRT yet (and probably won't for a while either :( ). I wear a sports bra when out, since they're invisible underneath guy clothes, and a padded one at home.
The only days I don't wear one is when I'm going to the gym and don't have time to go home to change beforehand. I suspect revealing female underwear in the men's locker room wouldn't be a good idea. Perhaps especially since I also increasingly often wear women's jeans, red women's boots and other random items depending on my mood. It's not really that noticeable, but showing off my underwear would probably make the people I train with put the pieces together, if they haven't already done so.

My corset however I've taken a keen liking to.
I like that it keeps my chest still to a point and that it provides extra perk and shape. Although it has lost its magical feeling most days, I still like a pretty one and it makes me feel nice to match under my clothes.

I've always had slight moobs growing up from being abit fat. I don't wear a bra day to day, so I still enjoy the comforts of something new when I do now and then. ;D A bra has always been that one extra thing that I couldn't openly wear as a boy. The one thing that says look I'm a girl and hear me roar. ;) Its good to be who I am. :icon_lips:

Personally myself, I find bras to be beautiful things to wear, if you buy ones with pretty or elegant patterns on them. I enjoy adorning my body with them.
However, I have my reservations about the prospect of developing boobs when on HRT, as they seem like a pain-in-the-arse when it comes to day-to-day issues. And bra straps can be really irritating over long periods. So I may end up hating them I guess, despite how beautiful they can be and make you feel. Boobs and bras seem to be much fun to have and wear when your by yourself or with a lover, and a bloody nuisance at all other times.
For me - the prospect of developing boobs would be a sort of "necessary evil" in the pursuit of becoming more female, perhaps in the same way that the risk of male pattern baldness might be seen as a necessary evil in the pursuit of becoming male. You can't love everything about becoming your target gender I guess. Rough with the smooth and all that jazz.
Sorry for stepping into the girls board but as a bio female, I've always hated wearing them.

Yes, I know what you mean. When I firstly started to wear a bra, I found it very uncomfortable and the straps made it too tight as I did not have a boob, but only with a pad. I remember that I got my first pair of bra in M&S and I was not dressed en femme. A young lady was very surprised when I asked her for a size. However, she was supportive and helpful. You can buy multiway bra as the straps can be removable and you can wear it with dresses. Where do you normally shop for clothing?

Seeing as I'm still using forms and try to be a full-time girl, I really have little choice in wearing a bra. It has made it less way to enjoy. It does make me appreciate my more comfortable bras more. I also just found a shirt with a built in bra capable of wrangling my forms, and enjoy the feeling of bralessness it gives me.
I can hardly wait for the day where I don't need a bra just to have my feminine form.

i am surprised there are so many 'negative' comments about wearing a bra. yes they can be annoying after a while for many reasons but there is little else that says "woman" more than a bra. it is badge of courage in the beginning for us and should remain a symbol of pride afterwards. i am like an excited schoolgirl wondering in the morning which bra i will wear today.

Oh don't worry and don't get me wrong... If I would have answered this question 6 months ago when I was not quite in the less is more stage, all you would have heard from me is more more more ;)
I think it absolutely makes sense that early on people gravitate towards anything they can do to feel more feminine. I was definitely in that boat for what seemed like a very long time. It feels great! That first day out wearing a bra has to be one of the best feelings ever.
After a while though (as other parts of presentation kind of relaxed and I grew into the full time woman role), the bras became much less important to passing or satisfying the gender craving I was so accustomed to having.
The second puberty thing is very true indeed. Even some of the social aspects, which is super neat :)
I hate wearing bras! When I got my breast done I thought that was the end of push-ups and bras but nope. Now with implants I still wear push ups. They dig into my skin but the cleavage I get is worth it!
No, but I need the support..and cleavage. Give it a few years for the novelty to wear off.

Yeah, it was a symbol of pride for a while, but the novelty did wear off. :) I don't mind, really; it's a sign that living as a woman has become just normal, which was my goal.

I've managed to find very comfortable day-to-day casual bras so I wear them, partly for a bit more protection because things are tender too.
Most of them, NO. But there is one that I wear most of the time.
I've come to the solid conclusion after not wearing a bra today at work, I need it or my nipples get rubbed raw from my coveralls rubbing them all day as I move around. It's miserable.

When I first started on HRT, I was 18, had been on blockers for a while and fulltime in a new city & went back to school (tafe) to do my VCE year 11 & 12, which I did in 1 year and I was wearing forms, they got smaller as I got bigger, by the time I was an A-cup, which was around the 6 month mark, (mind you they were hurting from what seemed the day before I started HRT) I wore padded push up bras, these days I love soft cup cotton bras, to get around the "high beams" I put a bandaid or nipple tape on, comes off in the shower

wearing a bra in hot weather is a sweaty experience..
On really hot days, if I am at home I not wear a top or a bra just a bikini top.
overall I love wearing bra's, if they irritate you, maybe you are wearing the wrong size. I don't really feel mine at all after wearing them for more than 10 minutes.
but ladies.. I have being told by g-girls.. woman do suffer a bit for beauty and often to look good we need to endure some discomfort. I think this is true, some of the outfits I have looked best in.. were uncomfortable to wear.

I bought some from Macy's intimates because my nipples and aureolas are puffy and make too much of a statement in a soft bra under a clingy T top and I prefer to not be stared at by some dork. These are just the ticket, finally I used one as a template and make my own from moleskin with a little cotton pad in the center which works great and is much more cost effective.

the thing I found out for my self is that because my breasts fit firmly in the cups and don't move the constant nipple pain goes unnoticed unless I start poking around. That constant nipple pain is like an open wound. I never have a problem though wearing a bra. The bra since I started transitioning has just become an everyday functional piece of equipment. I really don't like going out with out it.

I'm at the point wear I actually don't feel comfortable leaving the house without wearing one. Both psychologically and physically, and I've learned it's not because I'm hiding my little girls from view it's because I don't want unwanted attention or my nipps to hurt.

Me neither. I'm not too concerned about it though to go out of my way to make nipple covers though. For now a simple sports bra works perfect. I've been wearing them daily for a few months now and only noticed a couple days ago how bad my nipples hurt from my clothing rubbing them raw when I went one day without wearing one. Simple quick lesson learned, I have boobs, they may be little, but they're definitely boobs and I need to take a little extra care now.

What's interesting is I only ever used moleskin once and that was after my final FTX back in Ft. Benning for boot camp. 16 mile ruck march home and my feet were soaked at the start. My heels hurt like hell and when we got back to the barracks, did our rights of passage ceremony, and finally got to get to our bunks at 3:30 in the morning my socks were caked in blood and my heel was completely exposed, as in the skin had literally peeled away like a strip of tape and I could see the inside of my foot. I had to get stitches the next day and I had to use moleskin to keep from the stitches getting pulled out. Now I have frowny face scars on both my heels lol.

I fully agree. However I find it remarkably uncomfertable to go with out one. Specialy when out and about. Even just the fabric of my shirts hurt my nipples at times and the bra deffinatly protects them.
when im at home im almost always bra less. I like letting my girls have so air. Not to mention feeling them bounce makes me feel more fem lol.

If I'm doing anything overly physical I pretty much need to wear one now or its too painful. When I'm home its def. bra less, straps get annoying after awhile...

yea, I use to dress in my sisters cloths when I was a kid and the worst feeling for me was having to stuff the bra.

NO Hate them ,sweaty,tight and never seems to fit.

Not at all. But I really don't have to because they are small anyway. A little tape or pasties helps hide the nips when it's cold so no problems there. Long distance driving though I do wear one because the bouncing makes them sore. Lacy ones with lingere, Oh Yeah! I have no problems with them then.

I hear quite a few people posting how uncomfortable bras are. I find it quite the opposite no matter how long I'm wearing mine . I think the key must be proper fitting. although when I go the a cycle of itching and throw it off pretty quick.
From an FTM standpoint, the only bras I will wear are sports bras. One, I don't want any super feminine bras on my body, and two, since I do not have a binder at the moment, sports bras don't seem to perk my boobs up that much. I'm pretty small anyway though (thankfully).

I don't go out with out my bra , but I heard bouncing boobs can be a problem. Especially playing sports.

yes, it is a great experience to wear a bra with your own breasts. it use to be so incredibly dysphoric to have to stuff my sisters bra.

I'll be honest... I hate bras! They're uncomfortable and make my breasts feel trapped. Plus my breasts are small enough that I don't even need one. The only reason I wear one is to make my chest look fuller and more passable when I'm out and about or if I want to dress in sexy lingerie for someone I fancy. Otherwise the feminist in me would be all "Forget it! Not worth it!"

Getting the rice in isn't the problem it's getting it it expand without the rice pearcing the balloon
I like bras for the lift they give my breasts under clothes, but I dislike having them on from a comfort perspective. The only notable exception being sports bras that zip up the front. They give a sort of "uni-boob" look, but they're comfortable and supportive and I often wear them under tee shirts when loading around the house.
I've already voiced my opinion here, but I must update it! While I hate wearing bras around the house, I've just recently realized they are necessary when it is cold. Don't ask how I'm just now realizing this, I'm thinking that I've only recently gone out of the house without one on and noticed. With my jacket and shirt brushing up against my nips the whole time, I felt freakin chaffed by the time I got home!! :( it was horrible!! Though I'm still a no go for a regular bra- probably not fitted correctly (especially since I've gained a butt ton of weight). I only wear the sports bras or cami bras with the little padding you can move around for nipple coverage. And they are okay, though I dread the summer >.<

I do a lot of walking around at work and yesterday discovered the chaffing problem for the first time. :P Seems it was caused by a shirt that was just the right amount too loose. There's not much on my chest yet but my boobs are just starting to loosen up enough to jiggle around. I was enjoying the freedom but now it looks like it's bra-time for me, like it or not.
All his talk about how uncomfortable bras are are making me wonder if I just got incredibly lucky when I bought the bra I have . It really is so incredible comfortable, I might of just got the bra at a perfect time while my breasts are developing that it a perfect fit . I don't know I just hope it's not a fluke because I need to go up a notch with a new bra and I'd really miss the comfort

A little duct tape will do wonders for the chaffed nips if you don't want to wear a bra in the cold.

Well bandaids work just as good and I never had a problem pulling the tape off plus don't use the really good superglue type of tape. Just anything to insulate the nipples from the clothing rubbing against them. Pasties are the best thing to use if you can get your hands on some.

Well I hate to say it but ripping the tape off is a lot less painful than the chaffing. Or to me anyway. I learned the hard way one winter when I had to work outside all day and it took over 3 days for the nipple to get back to normal, It actually hurt and anything that touched it made me cringe. They stayed hard for the whole time and not because I was turned on either. After that I tried the duct tape and pretty much rip and it was over of course put something like a piece of toilet paper or something between the nipple and the tape and not just straight tape. I really thought everyone would know that. ;) Believe me I learned that one winter to never have unprotected nips in the cold.
I usually have a bra on that fits quite well, haven't had that kind of problem

When my nipples become large enough for my bras to irritate them, then just like my cis gender female partner I may just discard them at the end of the day.

I LOVE wearing a bra. I think Jenniferinutah nailed it on the head. Not having gone through HRT yet and still presenting at work and the world at large as male, a bra helps cement me in girlmode. Putting a bra on feels like a hug of femininity, welcoming me home after a long day.
I even bought a bra without underwires, along with some basic foam breast forms, that I could wear beneath my PJs at night. It's really not that uncomfortable, with nothing there to poke you, and I get to feel girly all night long :)
About the only time I don't like wearing a bra is when crumbs fall down in it :D

It sort of depends on what sort of shirt I am wearing. But some of the flannel ones make me sure agree with your sentiment. However, I will use a sports bra rather than duct tape. As the girls seem to be getitng a bit larger I use a bra more often anyway. Part of life.

Generally speaking I love wearing a bra. However have two pushup bras that show a lot of cleavage, but after a few hours of wearing them, I can't wait to get home and take it off. Most of my bras however are pretty comfy and I a;most forget I'm wearing them.
If it's a Victorias Secret bra, I don't mind it. If it's a >-bleeped-<ty target brand one? Hell yeah. Victorias Secret ones are so comfy. Any other brand usually is uncomfortable & annoying.
I don't like it at all. And went for a long time without ever wearing one. Now, it is no longer a choice and I have to buy more, as the ones I have now are too tight. Not wearing them hurts and I bounce too much and...my nipples are too big so I have to shield them too. Maybe once I buy 32DDs, I'll feel better about it. Now I have a 34D and a 32C. And some nice cotton cami-bras from Bollovo that I like, but that's more sleep wear. I do look really big with one on. I hate winter cause the clothes hide my body.
It's more a necessity than an expression of my gender for me to wear one. If I didn't wear one and had to walk down stairs or run, the boobs would start to complain pretty quickly; although wearing a nice matching set of panties and bra does make me feel nice about myself. ^-^ Also with them aching from growing pains, a little bit of padding helps protect them from light brushes.
Since getting properly fitting bras, I haven't really had any issues with discomfort, apart from wearing compressive sports bras. They are not comfy in the slightest, but they do serve the purpose of keeping the boobs squished down as per their original design. I take those instruments of torture (sports bras) off as soon as I can.
Do not like em at all. Last time I wore one, was about... mmm maybe 5 months ago. I can do without it, have a firm B cup so I don't need it for support. Nipples are an issue, but even with a bra my nipples still show. :S such is life...

These days I am 42B Cup and thankfully Marks & Spencer di a range of very comfy cotton and lace bras down to 42A. However my favourites are a couple of padded push up bras and pantie sets from my favourite lingerie supplier Simone Perlele (the French Lingerie manufacturer). I also own a few items of beautiful lingerie from them, but I really like their matching bra and panty sets (although I prefer wearing a G-String or Thong)
However when I was just a A cup, I always wore Playtex Cross your heart bras with Amoena Breast inserts . They are supplied for mastectomy victims so are incredibly realistic but expensive. However these days my breasts jiggle too much without wearing a bra and my nipples are very obvious as they are always extended (my aureola are quite large too, so I cannot wear tight white T Shirts any longer without a cotton bra underneath as they are just too obvious).
So these days its a bra all day, except in the shower. One thing that I have noticed is that at night tome these days my nipples are starting to leak a bit, so my Nurse Practioner has recommended that I consider wearing a cotton bra when I am sleeping too, as she felt it was important to support the breast tissue as I am now growing them substantially. I should say that I have quite a lot of breast tissue now to the sides from my armpits towards the nipples.
I am starting to think of wearing my bras again, as I am planning to start on estrogen patches after the last of my supply of Bovine Ovary is exhausted, which will be soon. This might mean a bigger jump in boob size. I may stick with sport bras so not to show so much. Then let them spill out when I get home to relax. They will need some "jiggle" time.

I honestly cannot wait to get home from work and get off my work clothes and into something comfortable like sweat pants or better yet pajamas :) I take particular happiness in whipping my bra off to be honest. Sometimes on the weekends I will go braless. It's easier in the winter since I am usually wearing a coat. In the summer when I want to go braless I am usually stuck wearing one.
i dont need one, though, at least for now i enjoy wearing one cause it helps me feel better.
So the only reason I wear one these days is because my clothes unexpectedly rub on my nipples and it's NOT fun. I don't have much "heft" or "bounce" yet but that will come.
A nice GF suggested playtex 18 hour bras to me some 6 months ago. They are so comfortable you do not even notice you are wearing one, so yes. I need a bra since my breasts are growing nicely. I'm maybe small B cup with nice nipples.

My boobs aren't that large in relation to my body, but I make the most of them. I wear a sports bra most days so I don't feel all over the place. To say that it's "enjoyable" is not accurate-it's necessary.

There has only been a handful of days this calendar year that I have not worn a bra of some type, and I'm pre-hrt still (that should change soon!) normally it is just a padded sports bra, but allows me to feel more femme, even if I'm in guy mode (which I still am most of the time for work). Once they become necessary, I may not like them as much, but I don't think I'd mind them.
How odd this popped up when it did. Just last night I put on the one that arrived in the mail (difficult to find an A cup in a 40 in. band size). It seemed on some level, like I had moved through some kind of barrier, because at first the old part of me was not accepting. However there was a newly opening part of me that was rejoicing that the step had taken place. My current development has amost entirely filled this cup size. I then put on a tank top on over it and settled into my armchair for the rest of my new beginning. Dani

Hi Tessa, I ended up finding it at the Macy's online shop. They make the search kind of easy because the band size and cup size can be entered, then it is just a matter of picking out the style you like. ;D Normally I order most of my clothes from either American Eagle or Victoria's Secret, but the one area they are deficient in is the bra area. I did buy a really nice nice bra from VS, but it is in a C cup, so it remains the focus of dreams when I look into my closet. ;) Dani

Nothing like looking down and seeing the real deal after forever feeling they were there in my previous shadow life. Way nice to step out from those shadows for me.
Well, I don't really have much there yet, but I've been wearing a sports bra for what little has developed. It helps some of the soreness and I don't mind wearing it so far. Maybe I'll care more after I have more noticeable results.
Funnily, a female friend told me to enjoy while I can still live without "constraints of society" as she described it :) - like, if they will keep growing the time will come when bra will become necessary, but meanwhile - let them be free :).

i love bras as they help define physically and emotionally what a woman is. what i mean by that, before anyone jumps down my throat, is when you see breasts or a bra, you immediately think woman or girl.
trying to affirm the woman within, i used to enjoy bras just because. but now that i have just started hrt, i too am beginning to wonder if i still will like wearing a bra when i have no choice. but for now, i sometimes forget i am wearing one until i look down and see the two delicious girly bumps...
i don't need wear a bra just yet but i wear one anyway because i love the peaceful feeling it gives me. i wear either an A or B cup (since i have some development already) depending on the manufacturer but a push-up really makes look busty! today i am wearing a regular cotton bra and it still looks pretty obvious. while i look forward to more growth, i hope my breasts won't run away from me too much as i am not sure i would enjoy anything bigger than a C cup!.
for now, i am just enjoying the ride towards womanhood and wearing a bra for me is a must.

Having boobs really presents different situations, problems, and psychological thoughts, some really nice. The underboob sweat that was mentioned, the extra hygiene involved that one didn't have before they started to develop. Just like the extra care when one has longer hair. It is truly a marvel when you think about it. The whole bra thing is all part of it. Personal choice vs necessity. Keeping the nipples from showing. The extra support. Whatever the reason for wearing a bra, I think it is all worth it as part of showing ones femininity. All aspects of it can be enjoyed in one way or another.
So interesting reading everyones comments on this topic.. After four years of hrt, I am lucky to have substantial development, although I do not wear a bra daily, because I just love the jiggle and swing as I walk or move, for me, that is a far more potent sign of my femininity than simply wearing a bra.

Iv not worn bra,s for over two 1/2 years and more likely wont again as i dont need them and they dont do any thing for me for my body shape and size my breasts are 16 D, or 40 in,s , I spent over 6 months with out them because i injured my right shoulder and neck and could not get them on so did not bother after that ,
What defines myself is being female and how i look or dont is not an issue, being born female is what defines who i am from 67 years ago, so clothes or adornments dont change who i am ,
Heres a detail for you does not having breasts stop us from being women because of breast cancer or we dont have our womb , so what really makes us women .
Being female to start with ,

I have no choice. I am a full A cup now and my nipples are still quite sensitive from HRT-but that comes and goes. I have a couple sports bra's as well as a couple padded and unpadded underwire. I find the underwire more comfortable than without. My mood dictates what I put on. Some days I just don't care.... if you know what I mean. ;)

I started wearing bra's about 3 weeks ago. At first I was going to purchase them due to my hyper-sensitive nipples but I also started seeing some pretty good growth rather quickly and felt like I needed the support. I fell in love with the feeling of wearing them both from the feminine aspect as well as for the support and comfort almost immediately. I'm still presenting as male so I wear a jacket vest to keep everything covered up so I don't accidently out myself at work.
At home I enjoy the feeling of being free without it unless my nipples are sensetive. :)
Well I need one now.. but I don't wear very often.. If I wear a bra my boobs show more.... and I am not full time..
I do like wearing a bra now but find myself just going without one.. most the time.
After I go full time will wear one every day..
The novelty of it has worn off a bit but It still is exciting to need one.

Mac1, there is one way to do it without prescriptions or other medications. I think that is why I managed to beat genetics a bit with my small C cups, as they say you generally have one cup size smaller than your mother and sister, and they had C cups. So, the method that seems to work for me is the Noogleberry system, which pumps the boobs into cups. When you do it long enough, they actually enlarge a bit. At least many attest to that, anyhow.

I wear loose fitting clothes, but if I wore tight clothes, I would probably have to wear a bra, especially if the boobs get any bigger!

I hear you, Jill! I should wear my sport bras more often, as I love the silky feeling of them. Even though they are plain without any design on them, they are a beige color. Match with the panties I bought.
I'm with the "absolutely love wearing my bra's" crowd. My bra's are so comfy sometimes I forget I have them on -even my underwire ones. It comes down at least for me, to having the right bra size tho. I found this out quickly when I grew out of my A cups as they became uncomfortable to wear, so I had to move up to 32B's.
You can either measure yourself or have yourself professionally measured at a Boutique, or use a bra calculator after you measure yourself for your underbust, bust, and around your nipples to get cup size, and buy bra's that fit you and they'll be more comfortable. At least for me that's what works best with regard to selecting the right bra. ;)

I'm pre everything and I LOVE wearing a bra! One of my favourite items of clothing!
When I go to the gym or wear tops I need to wear a sport bra. If I am at work (in male clothing) I sometimes wear a sports bra depending on the shirt I am wearing and how it looks. I like wearing the bra when exercising. I can not imagine exercising with out one. My bras are a bit restrictive but I forget I am wearing one most of the time. I do not like or dislike wearing a bra, it is needed. During 2/3 of my 14 day IM cycle my nipples are erect most of the time. So a bra is needed.
Last summer I wore a rash guard at the beach and I had some significant nipple and areola rash. This summer I will be bigger and I really do not know if a rash guard will work. I guess one day at a time :)
I love wearing bras. It very much was a size thing. Before I never wore bras, but at some point it was uncomfortable not to wear one. I did a professional fitting as well. My bras are very comfy.
I feel that I would be embarrassed to have a professional fitting. My face would be beet red!
i love wearing a bra... if you are really wearing the right size bra, you don't even feel like its there.
I had a professional fitting done.. and i am so glad.. as i was wearing the wrong size. my bras now fit me like a glove and are very comfortable.

That happened to me too on the first wash in the machine. However it was a very cheap (£2 GBP) bra so it was kind of expected to fall apart.

I have that same situation and like you my once wired bra is my most comfy. I need to become a more discerning wife when it comes to the laundry;-)
Going braless has become more special and in a baggy sweatshirt no one sees anything. A tighter fit will reveal that my headlights are almost always ON and titilating ;)
I had the protective rubber endpiece fail and an underwire stabbed me in the boob when it popped through a few years ago, I wasn't very happy about getting impaled :P

Well my face did turn red. But it was well worth it and the fitter made me feel comfortable quickly. I had called ahead as well and explained I was transgender, which was key.

I wear a bra because it's more comfortable and it makes me look better. I even wear them on 'pyjama days' sometimes because it's just more comfortable (I have a D cup, and am still growing I think).
It's always funny, when I put on the bra in the morning it's "aah, support", and then in the evening, when going to bed I take it off and it's "aah, freedom". It's just a part of having breasts I think, I like the support they give, but in the end of the day the freedom when taking it off is great too. I only wear bras with underwire that aren't preformed nowadays, as those are the ones that give the best support.
I never wore bras until I started presenting though.
@everyone that has laundry machine damage to their bras, isn't that what laundry bags are for? I always put delicates in a laundry bag.

Well, lazyness is a trait to be valued as well, at times ;) I just tend to trend towards optimizing comfort when I feel lazy, so that still involves putting on multiple layers to get warm, and a bra for support.
I do hate my sports bra btw, unwieldy monster that is a pain to put on... but running without it or a 'lighter' is just not feasible anymore.
For me it depends on the type of bra. I really don't like those wonder bras as they are great on a daily basis but they let my boobs bounce around too much if I need to move quickly. I do have a favourite bra though it was my first size 14 B. I bought it the day I started on hormone pills.I don't wear it often but it is really pretty and puts me in a good mood every time.

I love bras. Always loved them. I wish I had bigger boobs though, but that will come in time.
Now though I have to wear at least a sports bra. Not because of the bounce but because of the nipples. Since getting on HRT my nipples have been super sensitive... and arrrrggghhh, wear a shirt and it touches and it's soooo distracting. So yeah I pretty much have to wear one all the time I'm dressed up, no matter presenting M or F I need to wear one. It gets to be a bit annoying that I have to wear one instead of just wanting to wear one (which I do).

I went shopping this morning and tried on several sizes. I needed to, since I have lost much weight in the past year. I was a 46B a year ago, now I am wearing a 42C. With continued weight loss, I may be in another size shortly.
Having breasts that are properly supported feels much better than unsupported breasts when you grow into the larger sizes.

I live in a bra, a padded bra, in fact, now three bras, since I have not yet started taking any hormones.
I love wearing one as well. I find it kind of fun to mix the proper bra with the outfit I plan to wear that day.
I really don't own any exclusively male clothing except for shoes because of my size 13 size foot on my 5'6" tall body. Anymore it's even hard to buy male's shoes because somewhere it got out that size 11 is the largest size for the male foot. All of my clothes are my clothes bought by me, and wearing them has become normal for me. I am rather plain and I am sexually shy so I have never dressed in a manner that says I am available, which I am not because I have been in an undefined relationship with another person for the past almost 13 years, but this has never been part of my personality. I do like to dress in brighter colors because dark colors depress me. Which is to say at some point in time, I have accepted that I am a female, so it's not a big deal to dress as one, because that is who I am. For me, sex just happens, but mostly doesn't, and when it does what happens, happens, so I don't dress as a sexual person, and my clothing reflects this. My manner of dress is undeniably female, and no one can miss this fact.
Ugh, I HATE wearing a bra, if solely for the fact that I'm a profoundly lazy person and it sucks to have to put another piece of clothing on. It's just too damn uncomfortable to NOT wear it!
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have my boobies, but the bra is a chore for me.
I do need a professional fitting but I want to let the hormones do their work first. Right now I wear 36A but the band feels loose-ish. The cup size is a little tight though, but I'm not *quite* a B yet. Probably not for a few months at least.
So I might try a 34A and see how that feels.
Online calculators are all over the place, anything from 40D to 34C, which is obviously wrong.

If the band size is too small and the cup size is about right in a 36A, then you are probably already a B cup in a 34 band ie 34B. Only way to know for sure is to try a selection of 34B bras and see how they compare. If necessary go up or down a cup size and see which fits best.

its not liking or disliking them, now its more of a necessity now. sports bra's are a must when I work out need the support. up until may sports bra's were all I wore till I was properly fitted which was the best thing ever, it opened up a whole world for me. love the way the push ups look and how comfy t shirt bras feel madienform are prob my favorite. macys has good deals on them if you catch them at the right time. this sumer im having ba going from c to dd and guess i'll have to ditch all my stuff, maybe I can donate stuff's not cheap.
My plan was to not wear them at all once I could shed my prosthetic boobs (which obviously would've fallen to the floor without any). Not that I don't like them, I'm completely indifferent about them. I just don't think it's a necessarily necessary piece of clothing and I always had thought that had I been born a ciswoman, I'd totally had gone without. But my plans were quickly subverted by sheer unpleasantness and discomfort that came surprisingly quickly after going on hormones. Gravity is a thing and they've grown really fast and are extremely tender. Once I had to walk a couple of miles holding them with my hands for support, I decided it was time to ditch this plan and get a bra. Now I wear them unless I'm just hanging out at home, because just walking makes them bounce and bouncing causes later unpleasantness.
Maybe once they settle I can reapply my non-bra plans, but we'll see. If it doesn't work out, I'm not going to be bothered about it.
I don't mind wearing them for the most part, especially now since I'm starting to fit into them better and its pretty much a necessity. I will say though I do not necessarily like having to wear a sports bra while I'm out running in the warmer months. Unfortunately though this is something I really can't avoid since being running without that support is very uncomfortable.
I am a full 36d (implants) and don't mind wearing a bra at all. It was a challenge getting used to having to wear one each day, as I need the support, and now after 8 years, wearing a bra is a second thought. I have learned to avoid lace on hot days, found the value of a good sports bra and it is great to have so many chpices in bra styles that can give such varried fit and form. I have recently become a 'big' fan of coobie bras.
Since bras, like boobs, are a symbol of womanhood, probably wouldn't hurt to wear one once in a while.

Love wearing them, kinda helps add shape and form. However in line with general comment I love the freedom when off.
But I must also admit, the feeling of no bra's under my summer dresses is totally cool (temp and freedom wise ;) )

Only in the early months of hrt, I don't wear one often but I definitely feel a bit safer from knocking myself in the chest wearing one. I've learnt fairly quickly how much it hurts.
The Glamorise G-1166 sports bra looks promising. Someone from another website likes hers, so as soon as I know which of my measurements is more accurate (40C or 40D) according to the bra calculator online, I may decide to get it. It is rather pricey, but if I grow out of it within a few months, then it is a waste.
I used to when I started transitioning, but then I realised I could do fine without it (I don't exactly have DDs!), so I haven't worn one regularly for years, and feel all the better for it. The only time I wear a bra is if I wear a dress or blouse that is slightly see through.
I absolutely love wearing bras. A while back, I was contemplating why I enjoy it so much and the reason I came up with kind of surprised me. In every relationship I've ever had, I was the big spoon by default, but the handful of times I've been able to be the little spoon, I was in heaven. I like to wear my bras a little tight so it simulates that feeling and I feel safe. I am totally a little spoon kind of girl. So the first time I got the fit just right, I lay down on my bed, felt incredibly safe, and instantly fell asleep. I suffer from insomnia, so this was a big deal. They just feel really natural to me, but I'm assuming that a large part of that feeling is because I'm lucky that I found the right styles and sizes that are comfortable.

Still love it, beings I kinda need to anyway or my nips rub on the inside of my shirt all day and they get really sore really fast.
Since I never have taken hormones nor had any surgery, padded bras are the only why I have had any breasts. I have worn a bra consistently since 1999. At first it was just to wear a bra. Since 2008, I wear a bra so it appears that I have visible breasts. I wear one 24/7/365 except when I take a bath. My bras itch and cause some irritation, but the other day I took a bath and go downstairs in my nightgown for a bit without my bras, and I seriously missed my breasts. I really hope the day comes soon that my Medicare insurance policy has transition coverage so I can take hormones. It is still written into the policy that gender transition treatment is not covered. I was hoping it would change this year, but it didn't.
My chest is 39/40 inch bust, 34 inches under the boobs, and 35/36 inches over the top. The bra size calculator says I am a 38D but there is no way I am filling a D cup, more like an A or nearly b cup.
I haven't taken any medication either just developed a chest for some reason, though recently i started propecia which is an anti-androgen. I am hoping this will give the chest a boost.
I really pray that when I start HRT my body reacts super towards it and I get good effects. :laugh:

34B works and is much better, much more snug band and doesn't ride up. I fill them good once I adjust the straps properly.
Only problem is wearing it to work is difficult as I can't really hide the bulge now (not out at work yet). 36A is less but still a bit noticeable. Can't go without one as it just feels too uncomfortable.

Glad you've found your new bra size. I'm not out to work either and believe me when I tell you no one says anything about them. I'm a 34C bordering 34D, so if no one says anything with them being 34C, then chances are they won't say anything where they're 34B at least not if you don't wear skin tight tops. Keep the shirts loose and baggy and you'll be all right.
I have baggy sweaters that I wear. I would actually come out sooner but the issue is coming out to my kids school. I want to do that over the summer.
As a symbol of femininity a bra is important.......but its great to take it off when I go to bed!

Sports bras and me don't get along. I can't stand the feeling of having my breasts being mashed back into my rib cage for any prolonged length of time.
I am wearing a normal underwire bra, then on top of that a correctly sized tight female tee shirt, on top of that my existing two sizes too big male shirt, and finally over everything else my existing dark brown male fleece v-neck sweater also two sizes too big. The general bagginess and dark colour seem to be what helps. If I wore a white or light coloured sweater / jumper they are very noticeable.
Slouching can also hide them, but I'm now at the point where I'd rather work on my posture and the boobs do show more, but to be honest I've been presenting like this now for so long at work that pretty much everyone has gotten used to my chestiness.
So true Leila about tight tees and looser over clothes for hiding... But I am getting tired of all of that now... However no bra and jogging / running really feels uncomfortable without a bra... If caught out without :laugh:

I've pulled off the guy with pokie boobs pretty well with my customers especially in the summer with tank tops. I go months without seeing a customer in person as most of my artwork sales is done online.
I've found over the last 2 years that I wear a bra 23 hours a day on average, I just like the way they feel and look :)
Wearing a bra is a love / hate thing for me. Since being on HRT, my nipples and breast have become much more sensitive and I am very aware of them when I don't have a bra on. April is the hook digs in at the back, you maybe wearing a band size that is too small. If a bra fits you properly.. you don't even feel its there.
as for the putting them on and off.. well i also struggled at first..with the hooks... I used to hook the bra the wrong way so I could see and the spin it around my chest so the hook went to my back.. but with practice.. you learn.. Now I hook them behind my back.. no problem

At times the bra hooks stick me in the back, and my bra itches. However, without my bras I have no breasts. I desperately miss my breasts, when I do not have my bra on even more. In my whole live time living with other women, they have hated their bras and when they have gotten home could not wait to get it off. I wear my bras 24/7/365.25 except when in the shower. So if I had breasts, I would want to get out of mine also. But until then. A bra it is.
all the time (except when showering sleeping) it helps lower my dysphoria of my chest to an barley manageable level while I wait for HRT to start then like many others I pray the boob god will be kind to me
I wish that I had real breasts, so that I could hate wearing a bra like the other women in my household.

I can't reach behind my back to do that. Would be nice to have breasts so I could justify wearing a bra.
Wearing 34B now, fits perfect. Hopefully in a few months I'll be a C.

I kind of realized that, now that I have actual boobs to wear a bra it's like I'm wearing nothing at all. In fact going without one feels kind of weird.

Anyhow it is a mix thing for me as well. I love wearing one in the ways in how it makes me look and feel so much feminine. I also love wearing it with forms (until my hopefully grow) as both effect my movement. The thing I do not like about it is the consent adjusting. I like wearing bras to a certain extent! It makes me feel feminine since I've internalized the idea that bra-wearing is a keystone of women/femininity (I'm trying to unlearn this). But also bras can be really cute and I do love a cute one and support is always nice. But if I'm alone in my room or settling down after a busy day 85% of the time I'll take my bra off.
So my opinion on this is an evolving one. I didn't like bras that much pre-HRT, they just felt like sweat traps, but they made me feel better about my presentation. One big issue then was the underwires... Those things can be torture on you depending on your body, for me that was the case, so I cut them out.
Now, and just about 9 months of HRT have made those bras uncomfortable and risky (sometimes they slide off because nothing catches the bottom of my breast) and I had to buy new bras. They feel more comfortable and I forget they are on usually, that is until I start exerting myself to the point of sweating. When that happens the bra feels wayyyy uncomfortable. Since you can see my nips and areolas through my shirt, I kind of have to wear a bra to work and stuff for that reason, sometimes I go bra-less when off work though.
When my breast hurt because I am in a growth spurt, I end up having to wear a bra or they will hurt more. This usually is the case for about 2-3 weeks of any given month.
Either way, at the end of the day, it feels great to take off my bra and stretch my arms! :)

Despite being able to or not, the pure breast movement of rolling and bouncing when moving quickly kind of gives the game away, I certainly have had a few glances, even with 2 layers, when in that situation...
but the sensations against clothing is kinda nicely distracting ::)
But now I walk very slowly down stairs... very slowly, pretending to be intensely looking at the phone... quite an art.

My experience with them is this: They mostly just frustrated me. Wearing them with forms years ago was just another way of being reminded of what I was not. After I came out at home, I do remember feeling overwhelming relief wearing one all day underdressed (without forms). That lasted, oh... two days maybe. But it was an interesting reaction. I'm 34 months on HRT and have reached a full C cup. I haven't transitioned yet, so I wear a binder at work and typically a sports bra outside of work. I can no longer go without one without it bordering on obscene. I don't bother at home – unless I have yardwork to do or something. That's when you find out exactly what women complain about when getting sweaty. That is, if you don't wear one you will get a rash and sweat like crazy underneath your breasts. If you do wear one, your bra gets sweat soaked.
I've long since reached the point of a bra being a utility underwear item.
I have perky, very pokey boobs and if I wear a tank top in braless boy mode you should see the stares, lol
I have a drawer full of cute bras from basic white to frilly and lacy bralettes, most of the year I wear a bra 23 hours a day because I feel good, like the look and they are quite comfortable. In the summer though I wear more bra top camis and cute tank tops or bikini tops with a skirt or shorts.

Not a first, even though I had been waiting for that time with quite a bit of anticipation. The thing was, they felt bulky, restrictive, and just not natural. Then I found American Eagle 'lace bralette's' and 'lace halter bralette's', they are thin yet supportive, and sooooo much more natural feeling, and come in those neon colors I like so much.

I think wearing a bra is a type of right of passage into womanhood as when girls start becoming women, they wear bra's to cover there growing breasts. Mostly all women wear them. You get cis-woman who also complain about wearing them.. so the people ladies here are not alone.
Personally as mentioned earlier in the threat, I love wearing a bra, it makes me feel part of the club. I have D cup breasts, so the support the bra gives me is great.
I found bra's very comfortable. When I had a professional fitting done about 2 years back.. I was told if you wearing the right size bra, a bra is a very comfortable piece of clothing and you should not really feel its there.
good advice noleen11, with D's you need one for comfort and support for doing almost anything. I think get a fitting by someone who knows what they are doing and then try on several styles until you find one or several that feel like they fit you without pulling when you move.

My love affair with bra's was starting to wear off.. I could not wait to have to wear one.. now I have to wear one all the time unless I am bathing.. Mine are huge and may be getting bigger..
I tried sleeping without one and it was hard.. so I wear one at night too.
I am so happy to get to take them off but will admit.. I do love it..

Hello Everyone, #FreeTheNipple for me. Growing up in the 70/80's very much influenced my bra free look. Although coworkers, colleagues and some on social media complain.

While I'm still stuck with forms for the moment. I've worn a bra every day for months and don't find it uncomfortable. OK a couple are torture to wear and yes they are sized right. But the cheap ones under $10 seem to be the best for me. Of course my opinion is likely to change as I start growing ones I can't take on and off!

I've always liked wearing a bra and before BA, even after years of HRT, I felt like I had to have one to keep them pushed up and in (and prominent).
Nowadays I'd like to be able to sleep without one but my BA surgeon seems to think it's still safer if I do.
the more my breasts fill out the more they fit in the bras better and the more comfortable they are. I usually take them off when I get home , but sometimes I'll sleep with it on. I just like the feel .
Gosh every chance I get I wear a bra. Even to bed. The only time I don't is when I use the glue on (holister) forms and sleep with just the forms.
Wear a sports bra all the time. The feeling of my work blouse material rubbing on nipples drives me nutz! Slapping of t shirt on the girls while riding my motorcycle is not to nice either, though was novel at first. Has for 20 years now :/ As for enjoying it? Yes, at times when I am wearing something nice, it 'makes it' all come together. Never have been in to using forms, if I cannot fill it...I don't wear it, just me. I am practicing patience now...supreme patience :)

At the end of the day I can't wait to take mine off. It could be because the bra is too small (34B) and uncomfortable and I'm really dead broke these days so I can't afford new ones in larger sizes. And to think that I'm only 10-11 months in and I have years of growth ahead of me.
I do sleep bra-less most of the time unless I get home and I have some wine or other drink and I just plop straight in bed.

when I 1st started transitioning? Like Francis Ann, I like Platex 18 hour bras (especially the underwire ones as they have my breasys the natural uplift. I also like the soft cotton bras from Marks & spence especially as they fro my size which is 44B. Mind you I am fast outgrowing my B Cuop bras heading to C Cup.

I'm still not full-time at work, but I'm not really hiding it anymore. I have some tight polo shirts (girls and fitted guys) that I prefer to wear. Baggy clothes make me so unhappy! And the girls are getting bigger with constantly hard nipples. So I decided the lesser evil would be to wear a lightly padded wireless bra. I have shape and a little added size, but I'm no longer pointing the way I'm walking either!
I also have an underwear fetish, always have. And now I can add bras and lingerie to that fetish!!! I love bras, especially if I can fake some cleavage with them, lol. My boobs are validating, and right now it means I need to wear a bra to drive that point home to others and myself.

Oh, I get that too! We went to a clothing optional and couples only resort a year ago before she got pregnant as a last hoorah before all our time and money got sucked away from having a baby, hehe. It was soooo awesome, soooo relaxing, and socializing is surprisingly easy when everyone is naked. There's no real "class" or "status" barriers normally present by how people dress.
I'm kinda excited to push the boundaries of topless laws too since I can't change the gender marker on my birth certificate, hehe.

After a year or so of regulr nipple pumping, I really need the uplift of a bra, as I have extended myself and have become nipple heavy & wobbly.
Going downstairs with no support is like having a lead weight under each nipple!
I have spent a lot of time finding my bra size & style. My method has been to bid for second hand bras on eBay: these can be had very cheaply and if they don't fit, they can go to the clothes bank.
Bra colours have also been a problem. I like to wear tops which suggest that I am wearing a bra, but not those which show every detail of my my bra straps. White bras are the most visible, but surprisingly, black can be quite discreet.
My other issue is that bras which offer lots of push up squash my pert nipples flat. My solution has been to wear breast feeding plastic nipple shields inside my bra cups after each pumping session.

OMG I can imagine how you must feel when its hot out... something I never thought about before transition.. Its wonderful to not wish you could wear one.. Ill take the pain of having to over that any day...

The most miserable thing I've ever seen in my life was a Houston PD bicycle patrol officer wearing a ballistic vest in August. Anybody who has to wear one of those things has my pity, breasts or not.

You're poor nipples :-/ Be careful that you don't do damage to your capillaries, but I hope it's working for you.
The thickness of the shirt fabric has a lot more to do with how much the bra shows compared to the color difference. But I usually wear beige "nude" bras when I want to wear a shirt that's a bit sheer and not have my bra show. Since I'm white it matches my pasty complexion. There are also tape things my mom got me that I never use that make it so your bra straps never show.
To the OP: I don't like going out of my apartment without a bra because my breasts would chafe too much and be even more sore at the end of the day than they already are. But I often take them off when I'm at home and let the girls free from their underwire prison, and only sleep with one on now if I'm too tired to undress and just pass out on my bed.

But only because I have convinced myself it helps my breasts (so tenuous to call them that) develop and forms them into the correct feminine shape as opposed to moobs.
I wear a bra each night for this reason....I know! I know! but a girl can dream...but also like the tightness of it and how when I wear it I feel like I actually have something in front of me.

The straps on my bras can mark my shoulders if I set them tight enough to stay put all evening, and I hate to have to grope for a fallen bra strap when dressed.
I would like a bra with deep supportive side panels, a 3 or 4 hook deep rear fastener and wide comfortable straps.
I recently bought such a bra from China, and although it it is a bit small and a struggle to get into, once fastened it provides lovely snug comfortable support & uplift and a formidable push-up & cleavage.
But the style is naff and tacky and it's not a bra which I would like showing under my top. Maybe comfort & fashion don't mix, and a sexy cleavage demands sore shoulders.
I really do enjoy it ... Sometime, hopefully soon, I think I'll enjoy it more when it's from true necessity ... but who knows, anything can get old when you have to do it.

You should go for a bra fitting, if a bra fits right, you should not even know its there and its very comfortable. I also struggled with bra's for a long time. Then I went for a professional fitting and it turned out, I was wearing the wrong band size and cup size.
That unfortunately that is the truth. The more uncomfortable an item is, the better you look in it. Women do suffer a bit for beauty.

I cannot get away without a bra now as my breasts are 42B Cup and quite obvious without a bra as my nipples are almost permanently erect (although if I get aroused they do get even bigger). Anyway I went recently for a Bra fitting with my Lingerie shop in Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and am bordering a C Cup. I ended up with two pretty lace topped Playtex Cross your heart 18 hour bras.

I'll admit it's nice not having to worry about them yet but at the same time there is that curiosity.
Bras are great back support unless you never take it off and then get weak and dependant.
They also really help passing.
I hate wearing bras. I only wear bras because it makes my pretty-much-non-existent-boobs look bigger and it helps people gender me as female. Though I am finally starting to get to the stage where I *need* to wear a bra in order to prevent my nipples from rubbing raw from certain scratchy fabrics.
I enjoy wearing a bra filled with breast forms for making me feel and look more feminine. Would rather have my own but the breast forms are much better than nothing.
I'm not sure I like wearing so much as filling......

my problem is big nipples. I had big nipples before HRT now I got really big ones. there just too noticeable without and there even noticeable with.
I wouldn't say I really like wearing them, but I like getting stuck on the seatbelt even less, so I do what I must.

At a 38D i have to wear one in most situations, with most outfits. I don't mind the garment all that much and getting ones that fit properly and are pretty makes it all the better. I like matching sets a lot.
Having said all of that I enjoy bra wearing less than i used to when it was new and i suppose that is normal. I am quick to change when i get home and try and find some outfits where it is cool to go braless. Today i am not wearing one with a fairly tight t-shirt under a cardigan. The latter allows me to pull that off but just barely.
When i complained about bra shopping and wearing to a cis-female friend of mine, she said - you are just becoming more of a girl. We mostly all have a love/hate relationship with bras. I thought that was kinda funny :)
Six weeks into HRT, I have started wearing one out of necessity. No, I don't have any visible or measurable growth yet beyond my 'moobs' (which are kind of cute, but wouldn't even fill an A cup), but I need it to stop my nipples from hurting. :) I am wearing plain, utilitarian, flat sports bra.
It doesn't show under men's shirts when I am in boy mode. If anyone saw any outline through the shirt, they would assume I was wearhing a tank top.
I am looking forward to having something to fill a proper bra with.

I don't think so. I think those societies have ladies that enter their reproductive years fairly early and you are seeing the results of raising children and breast feeding them fairly late into their lives. Just a guess though.

Entirely agree Emma. I discovered guys reaction to cleavage when I was 16. Mother sent me to a teen dance in a flirty skirt, a really low cut top and a black push up bra that made me look like DD. I felt like I'd flop out if I bent over. Guys reaction was immediate and I loved it. Finally one invited me out to his car for a drink of whiskey. His hands were all over me and sure enough, they did flop out. He had the most enormous ejaculation I ever saw. I was delighted to have that effect on men, and now I knew I liked men.
One other thing. I like the feeling when my arm brushes against my bra encased breast. It makes me feel more feminine to have something there.
My breasts came in with puberty just like the older girls' did. So Mom gave me my sisters old bras but we were a nudist family so none of often wore them.
Now I am about 50/50 harnessed/free. depending on what outer clothes I have on and what I am doing for the day.

I loved the 70s when I didn't wear one! I only put a bra back on when the church we were attending at the time preached against it. Yup, I used to be religious back when I lived as a hetero, married woman.
But I HATE bras, and now just wear them so I can "pretend" to be female. But I cut up and redid the bras, wrapping the bottom edge of the bra with fluffy microfiber car wipe cloth material, cut off the hooks and added a long piece of elastic in the back to make them loose, with all back straps wrapped in the fluffy microfiber cloth. I lined the cups with the same material. I suppose I could tackle the straps next, but that would be more trouble.
Besides wearing bras is a bad idea for your breasts.

The last couple of years it's become easier to find bras in a size that works for me, I think makers are beginning to cater to mtf as a market. At 40B I'm glad my breasts now show every day and I'm choosing breastwear to accentuate ot minimize according to my mood and what I'm doing.
I don't mind being a slave to fashion, bra-less in a t shirt - my usual attire - just doesn't work for me. I may eventually come to appreciate my east - west shape but for now I prefer a shaped look. I also love having a sports bra and feeling free to wear it for running and cycling, I will never miss the sensation of nipple chafing
My breasts are starting to be noticeable. It's winter here, so I can still hide them under bulky shirts or checked shirts (bra, too) but I have no idea what I'm going to do, come summer, when it's too hot for anything but a t-shirt. I'm not ready to be out, so it's a quandary.
Yes, I like wearing a bra. Sometimes I want to free my girls, just as many cisgender women like to go braless at the end of the day. However, unlike cisgender women, I feel dysphoric without a bra. Once I begin hormones and I develop my breasts, then wearing a bra might not be as important to me. Right now, though, I feel less like myself without it.

I honestly need the support. I need a C cup and if I'm coming down the stairs or jogging and I do not have a bra it can be uncomfortable. I take my bra off when getting ready for bed and that is about the only time.

My sports bra changes everything. Bumping them does not hurt as bad and my perky 'cones' are tamed.

I just bought a strappy 32A sports bra that has removable padding that offers protection.
Bras are more of something I need so I don't have to deal with discomfort through the day. As far as like I have some nice ones that I like. I find the front zipping sports bra to be so much better then squeezing into a regular one.

I like wearing one once in awhile while at home. It helps to make me feel feminine. I haven't worn one out in public yet but I'm thinking about it. And now that I'm actually growing breasts I may want to even more. Not that I want to broadcast that fact. I'll try to be very discreet.
I have a problem with almost all bras! My bandwidth is 40, and i do not think that I will ever get less than 38, no matter how much weight I lose that darn rib age just will not shrink!
But here comes the problem, cup size means nothing in the none logical world of female fashion. A B cup of a 32 bandwidth, is about the B cup that fits me very nice. However, A B cup of a 38 or 40 bandwidth is a gigantic container, which could serve as a shopping bag! And i have yet to find a bra with that bandwidth that sports an A cup, which might fir me alright.
I tried with less bandwidth bras by using bandwidth extenders, but that works only for about one size down in bandwidth, because the bra cups are to close together when I go lower.
Depending what I wear, I need tow ear a bra because my nipples are hard all the time, and I have some bounce in the girls that cannot be hidden. I am not that large that I would need to wear a bra for comfort, it is just for the looks to the outside world.
I now have to use the large bandwidth bras with "chicken cutlets" inserted, but that is not very comfy either, and someway, it does not look natural either.
I think I have to hope that HRT finally will kick in, and do provide a little more growth to fill the cups better.
A good option for us trans women is a bra extender. I am a 38A. There are in fact 38A bras in existence, and I tried some on in the store, but I couldn't fill any of them. What I wear now is a 36B with an extender. That fits well.

I tried to work with extenders, and found that the distance between the cups is to short when I do this. Which means, my breasts are not fitting in the cup the way it should be, and I have to force them into it, which hurts at the sides after awhile. But that seems to be the plight of many cis women, ill fitting bras, and now I am about to join their ranks!
Or I have to continue to wear bandwidth wise fitting bras and stuff the cups with chicken cutlets! I think I am currently (until the girls grow more) in a loose/loose situation concerning bras!

Thanks. I try to get along with lower cost bras at the moment, because I just only started with estrogen, and expect my breasts to grow more. Once i have an idea what my final cup size could be, I will definitely go the professional fitting route.
I just checked again (I have a "test" bra from Victoria' Secret), and I am between a 34 B and C. I could go by with a 38 with a band expander, bu any B cups in that bandwidth are way to large for me, and I have not found any with an A cup in that band width. If, for some reasons, will end up with a similar breast size as my mother or sister, I probably would end up with a D cup.
My current breasts are grown by themselves, caused by me being intersex. I now started HRT and should expect some more breast grows starting soon (I hope).

I am like you, a bra does nothing to me considering the feminine feeling. I have to wear one if I wear lighter weight clothing. I still can hide my breasts under a sweat shirt or a very heavy woven shirt, specifically if such a shirt has breast pockets.
I assume that my breasts will continue to grow, and pretty soon a shirt will not be able to hide them anymore.
I absolutely love wearing a bra! Bra extenders are awesome too.
I am gonna find out soon enough. I've had unexpected growth. I'm gonna have to buy a 38A.

Good luck in finding a comfortable one with that small cp size with the large bandwidth. I have a 40 A, and finding gold is way easier than finding a nice and comfy bra for that size. It seems that women with those bandwidths are mostly a little heftier, and along with that come bigger boobs, and the sizes that are available!

Tried this already, The problem with us former guys is that our chests are wide, an the boobs are further apart form each other than it is the case with cis women. If you take an extender, the bandwidth can be oK, but the cups are still to close to each other and don't fit your boobs well. What works better, is to find a fitting bra with a front closure, and put the extenders there. That increases the bandwidth, but also brings the cups more in line with the way the boobs grow on our wider chests.

I don't NEED to wear one, my girls are perky enough to show themselves off without additional support or paddiing. I wear them for a couple of different reasons. First off, all my bras were chosen because I like them, they fit well and they feel good....they are also feminine and I like that. Second, I will often wear a bra for modesty in public, especially if I am wearing a thin form fitting top that my nipples show too strongly through. Other times I will wear the same top with no bra because I love the way they look and bounce....bad girl!

I agree Chrissy. Even a simple T-shirt looks better with a bra. A dress drapes better as a bra keeps them up and in front. Unless of course one is lucky enough to be be able to present blatantly through a t-shirt or sheer top. Also running hurts without a bra!

For some special reason I had to present male the last two days. I was able to hide my girl with a binder, which is pretty ok. What is not Ok is the fact that people hug each other and feel they have to press their chest into mine, and doing so hitting my very sensitive, absolutely unprotected nipples. That did hurt a lot several times during those two days!
I came to realize that a bra not only protects these girls, but also seems to set limits how hard one would want to hug a person!
I like wearing a bra because it helps relieve my dysphoria, but I can see how cis-women would prefer not to need wearing one. Perhaps once I start HRT and grow my boobs, then I may find myself with the same attitude toward bras as cis-women. Until then, wearing a bra helps me connect to the woman I was born to be while I'm still stuck in a male body.

I do like to wear a bra once in a while. Although I don't need one at all. My question is does anyone know where I can get a bra that is 46 inch band size but is a AAAAA cup? I've tried 46 B and 44 A and they are more cup than I need. I'd like to get a custom one made but those prices are way too much for me. I've looked at a huge number of websites already.

I agree Chrissy. Even a simple T-shirt looks better with a bra. A dress drapes better as a bra keeps them up and in front. Unless of course one is lucky enough to be be able to present blatantly through a t-shirt or sheer top. Also running hurts without a bra!

I think you have to dream on! My bandwidth is somewhere around 40 an 42, and in that bandwidth I have a solid A cup size. I tried to see if B cups would fit, they don't, because they are so big that both of my girls wood fit into one side, and I could use the other side for grocery shopping!
I finally found bras that are 38 B, and I use those with a bandwidth extender, and one chicken cutlet in each side. The important thing with those bras is that they have a front closure that accepts bandwidth extenders. By using the bra with the bandwidth extender, the cups are in the right position for the location of my boos on my chest.
Bras with rear closures in the 38 size have the cups to close together, and hurt my girls when worn for some hours.
I can wear my current bras for n entire day and forget about them. They are very comfortable and I never feel like I would want to take them off.
Having a chicken cutlet in each side also helps to protect the girls, because they are still hurting like crazy! I am running around with hurting boobs for more than 3 years now, and hope very much that they will be done hurting pretty soon!
Using extending for more than one size throws the entire bra out of place on you, cups aren't placed right, too close together, straps aren't right. I can see using the cutlets would help fill out the cups. Have you tried a padded sports bra? It gives some protection to your nipples and boobs overall.
I've found that bralettes that I found at Costco feel just right...

Without one, I sag, wobble and ache, and it's a real relief to fasten that back band, slip up the straps and swoop & scoop the girls into the cups!
I have never got into bra band extenders, though.
Partly because if you are using an extender, then the bra fit is probably wrong. Your bra band needs to be very firm, as it is mainly the band which supports you. My "go to" bras have bands which were suffocatingly tight in the fitting room.
Many bras for small cup sizes only have 2 hook fastenings. Look for bras with a 3 hook fastening band. These bras offer wider side panels and much more sympathetic support and lift, and often, wider straps.
Secondly, extenders widen the bra strap rear support locations, so your bra straps are more likely to slip down. I hate to lose a bra strap, but I see so many women with dropped straps, that they must be wearing the wrong bra sizes.
I like the support of a bra but I can't wear them in public as I still present as a male. I am wearing at least two layers of clothing to flatten my chest but a sports bra should a do a better job. I don't like them when I sleep as they hurt your girls.

I am a sucker for lace and bling! The bralettes from Costco are nice and lacy, and I bought a set (they come in twos), and took them home with the hope they would fit. Thy do not, and I have to take them back, let go of this nice lacy thing!
I don't care if nobody sees the bra, but for me, it feels good that I am wearing a nice lacy piece of clothing.
If you come and offer me lace or bling, or even better, lace with bling, I just melt away and need to have it.
The great thing about VS is that they have every style imaginable, along with a great return policy. But, they only have the smaller sizes so big girls are out of luck. As well as great online sales to browse through!

They have amazing bras. I have some that have clasps on the front. They are also among some of the most comfortable. My first bra was a 36B. I can't wear it anymore because the cups are too small. I don't want to just throw it away though but it's a little weird to sell it or give it to someone else. So there it sits in the bra drawer of the dresser.

Here I am with a stupid bra question. When do you know that a bra has to small of cups for your girls? Mine seem to be a little compressed in the evening when I take the bra off! It does not hurt (they hurt anyway for the last three years) specifically, but they don't look "happy" when they are released at night!

The piece holding the cups together should be flush with your chest. If the cups are too small then this piece will float.
Also, when you have breast tissue not fitting in the cups; you need a large cup size. This could also be because you need a large band size too.

My band size is OK, it is around 41. My bra has 42. I might have to upgrade to 42 B cups. But they look so unbelievably large! I do not want to get a chest like Dolly Parton has!

Six years ago I was in heaven about wearing a bra every day. Perhaps that was, in part, a response to desire long denied? Like so many here I suffered through misfits and uncomfortable bras and felt some need of protection for the exquisite tenderness of breast growth.

LOL, and the bigger they get the further they fall? I'm just about 68 yo but am fortunate enough to have developed breasts resembling those of a teenager. At my age gravity and a degenerating spine have dropped me 3/4 inch in height but my breasts remain defiant, for now, and a source of joy and goodness for me every day. Do I like wearing a bra? God no, why would anyone? I never liked wearing a bra. It never made me feel feminine in anyway. When I was young the only clothes I would try on were high heels and dresses.

It will be a very long time for me, to do this. My avatar shows how long my hair is. Considering it grows by 1/2 inch per month, one can imagine how long it will take!

Not really. I have a near identical build to my Mom and sisters especially the youngest. I'm just roughly half an inch taller.
That's the thing you don't have to strength train. Heading from the break room this morning with the bottle of water I bought because I forgot mine this guy held the door rushed ahead and held the next three doors for me all the way to my cubicle. He happened to work on the other side of the floor but he tripped on himself to keep the doors open for me and just a thanks and a smile had him strutting with his nice butt away after words.
Oh and after writing all that I realize you meant the weight of them. Yeah there can be a bit of a back ache after a long exercise. But my boyfriends back massages seriously take care of the back pain. No innuendo, massages help.
I have found that the breasts are like the hypnotoad in futurama. I like mine and I wouldn't want a reduction.
My 36Cs don't weigh an awful lot, and still don't sag. That could be due to their high density. I found out mine are more dense than most when I had a mammogram. Still, I wear a bra when I go out, since decency says nipples poking out will provide me with unwanted attention.
For those with normal breast density, a proper fitting bra will decrease the extent of sagging. Not many women want their nipples hanging below the waist.
The problem with high density breasts is that finding lumps through a self exam is inefficient. A lump could hide in tissue fingers will not feel.

Used to do so when in back yard "suntanning" but lately I've "evolved" due greater maturity (yea right!) usually, when around house, just wear an oversized dress shirt & underwear only ;) which is just as "leggy" but not so obvious if caught out. The only surgeries I have ever had were:
Cast for my arm when I was really young. I think it was my left arm at around four or five years old. I am told I jumped out of the swing but I don't remember.
Stitches on my chin after I tripped over some kind of pipe in the bleachers in the gym and fell and busted my chin. I had my hand over my gym walked to the clinic and passed out coming to being checked over my a paramedic.
SRS in September 2011.
I'm all natural and I never had any blockers.

It is more the competitive feeling with me (or the wish that I would have these boobs, or, mine are way better) what I have now concerning other females breasts.

These days for me I find it a necessity. Just recently I had another bra fitting session at Marks & Spencers (when I was in my UK Cottage last year) and I was surprised to learn I had gone up a size from 44B to 44C, since wearing B cup bras were now a bit tight and I am much more comfortable now wearing a c Cup which seem to gather in my breast tissue leading to my armpits to give better overall control.

Wow, 44 C (is that the US measurement?) is pretty big. I am just getting into 42 B, and those cups look giganti to me!

Actually it is a UK Measurement. The problem I have a quite a broad back, so when I started on HRT my breasts were really tiny but I still needed a 42AA, but as my breasts have grown first to 42A, then 42B, I eventually found that with my extra breast tissue especially from the centre upper pole to my armpit, I was basically struggling to get my bras both on and to provide the right level of support. In June last year I had the second bra fitting and I ended up buying a range of pretty bra and panty matching sets in Black, Turquoise, Pink and Nude in 44C from Marks & Spencer's in Exeter. They now fit some much better. I should say I am a small C, but have plenty of room to grow more. Since I have been on Progesterone my breasts have grown in the upper pole area and of course the big thing now is that my Aureolas have become quite large in the own right and my nipples are very noticeable without a bra
Ideally I would like to be D or DD Cup as then this will I believe give the most appropriate level of cleavage.

I have the feeling the US and the UK bra sizes are the same, or very close to each other. The number 42 of my bra specifies the band width, which means basically your rib cage plus whatever fat I have on it, and the letter is the cup size. The smallest cup is an AA, followed by an A and than goes up the alphabet, and there a DD would be bigger than a D (that is at least the way I understand it, like all female clothing dimensions, this, too, is a book of mysteries).
My problem is also the size of the bandwidth, or the size of my ribcage, and that makes the girls sitting pretty far away from each other, and it is hard to get any decent cleavage. I am now a small 32 B, but those poor babies look pretty small and lost on my chest. I know hat I have the classic "hand full", but with that chest, I would not mind to need two hands to cup them. I hope I will some more growth, but if not, at least one hand full is better than none!
Hi, I am a full 42B after a 555 cc BA. I can fit into a 40 but then I am a C cup.
I had a bra sizing and purchased several bras from a shop. I never wear them now. I went back to my sports bras. I put them on and never think about it after. My breasts are in the same place as when they settled after the BA I guess two years ago.
One issue when wearing a sports bra or bathing suit for that matter is that my nipple piercings can show through tight material. In the gym I am self conscious but then I think so what and who really cares.
I wear a bra so my breasts do not sag. I wear tight sports bras in the gym. It is just part of my routine. Sometimes at home at night I will take my bra off and get into my nighttime top. It is super soft thick cotton. I enjoy the time I am free. Although the free feeling only lasts a minute and I am back to not noticing.
I compare my breasts to other woman's for size and cleavage. Just like I compare clothing, hair and shoes.
Since the topic here is bras, I have a question about bras in general. I have a lovely, fairly expensive bra that I bought a couple of years ago. It's band and cup sizes are fine, but the straps continually fall off my shoulders. I also have a front clasping bra where the back straps go toward the center of the back, thus holding them in place on my shoulders. Is there any solution to the strap slipping apart from the basic design of the bra?

Slipped bra straps are a girl's nightmare! It's so embarrassing if your strap slips, knowing that you have got to grope for it and down it will go again, plus lost cup shape!
I have largely solved this problem by going for "leotard back" brassieres.
With many bras, the straps just run vertically down to the bra band. And many of the straps just attach to the top of the band. As you move and the bra band rises, your straps become loose and down they go.
With a leotard back, the bra straps come down and then run along the top of the bra band to the clasp. In effect,your bra straps form a semi-circle across your shoulders and back. The straps are continuously tensioned by your bra band, and also are pulled inwards.
I find that I don't slip anymore, I get full strap support, and I can safely set my straps very wide on my shoulders when wearing a boat top blouse.
Leotard bras also have deep side panels, which help for general boob support and pushup.

anne_indy, another possibility is if the back of the bra rides up on your back and can cause the straps to become lose and slide off your shoulders. The cause is the wrong size bra, have you had a bra fitting recently?

jill610, you may want to look for a better fitting bra. The correct fitting bra shouldn't poke you anywhere and should almost feel like you don't have a bra on.
One of the first things I did when I retired was to throw away all my bras. Yes, it was exciting early on, but now I hate them. Never catch me wearing one

I think you have a bra that is too small. A properly fitting bra is supportive and comfortable.
Today I bought a pair of Jockey sports bras at Costco. I am test wearing one of them currently. They seem to be pretty comfortable, and feel as if they could be an all day affair! They are slightly padded and protect my constantly hurting nipples pretty good!

I get the novelty of it but after a while that wears off and it's no different than any other piece of clothing, at least in my experience.

If I don't wear one my I tend to get back aches, it's uncomfortable going down the stairs or basic moving around.

There are times I forget that I have a sports bra on and I find a bra with more then two clasps distributes the band a bit more evenly providing more comfort.
If you where fitted you should be fitted again especially if you gained weight because either your band is too small or your bra is wearing out and the wire is poking through the bra. The bra shouldn't be painful to wear.

Underwires get uncomfortable after a days wear, especially when you actually need one. This is not news or new. If they did not, that would not commonly be used as (an effective) marketing device for underwire-free bras.

It's normal when they are big. It tends to happen most often while practicing my forms if I don't have adaquate support.

Get a professional fitting, I went for one and I was wearing the wrong size.. wow when you wear the right size.. the bra feels so comfortable. Also most cis-women also wear the wrong bra size.. so we must not be ashamed.
A bra must not cut into you or leave strap marks after you take it off.
I have worn a corset, and they can get uncomfortable..I would not say hurt. I once wore one of those old school ones (with the laces at the back), i went to Victorian theme party and we had to dress up.. I dunno how the women did it in those days.. the corset is tight when done up right (mine was), you feel this pressure on you as you breath and you cant eat much.. but I can say my cleavage looked amazing..
after that.. the modern ones are a breeze

And I have my girlfriend (the young one who is doing my makeup) measure me and we try some of her older bras on me to determine cup size. I feel it would be a waste of money to invest to much into a bra for me, because I try to loose weight, and my breasts are still growing. Once I think that I have reached my target weight (or could swap weight with you >:-)), i plan to visit FS to get the real deal fitted!

8) sorry but I continue forward on the weight loss, I don't do weight gains anymore. You just have to get it done or pay for liposuction.

I don't think that liposuction works well with the love handle area. It is better suited in ares with lots of fatty tissue deposit (Like the lower stomach area, or the butt. Which means, this is not a very visible solution.
I mean you would not have to swap out all of it, we could split the difference. Sounds fair?

;D I'm sorry no. I still have roughly 44.3 pounds to go. It would hurt my mental self too much to be above 190 again.
It wasn't easy losing 46.4 pounds.
I was measured, surprised at my cup size. I thought I was only an A, but the girl said I was between an A and a B. She pulled out a B cup bra that extremely comfortable and actually fit! It's now my goto bra.
