I just measured with no shoes on. 5'8" for me. This is the first time I have checked my height in years.
My drivers license shows me at 5'11" and I remember being this tall for years. Maybe I just put it down
on the paperwork back then because I didn't know my height lol. Either way I just lost 3 inches and that is
fine with me.

What is the purpose for all of these questions in regards to physical measurements of trans women; is the OP suggesting that if one is more petite then their transition is more valid than larger framed trans women?  I've seen very petite trans women (as well as intersexed) who are very unpassable, and very tall trans women who could be runway models, and vice versa. So these questions are pointless, unless it is an ego boost for the OP to compare her features to larger framed trans women, and somehow feel superior?

I can't speak for the OP, since I am not them.

My purpose is a combination of curiosity, and to help me in understanding the body shapes and wardrobe issues out there.  I've worked with a number of women on wardrobe and styling, and having a better understanding of sizing, associated measurements, and issues we run across helps me to pick better starting points for the folks I've worked with.

I've also used some of the numbers to help educate trans-friendly shop owners and customer service folks in selecting the right outfits for trans customers; basics like things to avoid, styling decisions to work best with common body shapes, and so on.

Yes, it is possible to look very good in spite of the different body proportions and height many of us have.

Oh, I'm 5'7".   I lost an inch plus, somewhere in the past several years.  If someone finds it, please just donate it to a good cause.

Cis women come in different shapes and sizes, so most trans women can easily find clothes and shoes to fit them: and there is already a lot of advice for Cis women to help them choose clothing styles that best suit their particular body shape, and the same advice applies to trans women.

And some department stores offer personal shoppers as a complimentary service, and they will help pick out clothes to you create your best looks, and advise you on which styles look best on you.

Are you a personal shopper?

If I wear heels I have a slightly better outcome when reaching for items on high shelves in supermarkets!

But my height is a great advantage for passing in public though!

I've voted for 5'10" but the reality is I'm somewhere between 5'9" and 6'0", just never properly measured myself. I have people around me who are clearly only about an inch taller than me claiming they're 6'3" and then people about a foot smaller than me claiming to be 5'4" so my whole idea is really skewed!!

As for you girls saying you're about 5'4"?? I am JEALOUS!!

Are you a personal shopper?

;D

Not officially, but I've probably assisted over 30 transitioners with wardrobe selection and fitting.

It turns out that many just starting to come out as women at an older age are a bit shy about the retail environment and shopping, and would rather engage a member of their own community to assist them than a personal buyer in a store.

There are often budget limitations in starting a new wardrobe as well, and many of the shops that are more budget-friendly (consignment and thrift stores, remainder stores, etc) tend to not have much in the way of personal staff.

I've helped older transitioners with a number of things, such as selecting appropriate office apparel, dressing for special events, and age-appropriate wardrobe.  It can be a bit difficult for a 40+ person with their inner 15 year old coming out to shop appropriately and put together a good flexible wardrobe out of a few pieces (rather than the closets full of complete yet inappropriate outfits that don't support mix-and-match that I see too often).

Hmm. 🤔  I suppose you could call me a pro bono personal shopper! 😄

Meanwhile, back to our regularly scheduled thread...  I'm still 5'7"

I would say without knowing, but from how I read these myself, that it's actually about acceptance.

I'm personally, 6'1 (185cm) and find it liberating to see all the different answers but especially that I'm not alone and others have possibly the same thoughts. Like our own "tall Amazonian princess" at 6'7, I find it so beautiful and encouraging.

It's not to shame anybody, but to help people with various dysphoria get past themselves.

But maybe the OP can shine more light on the thoughts behind this.

5'4". I suffered a lot during my childhood/adolescence always being the runt - the school bully's target among other things.

In elementary school, i was a newly arrived immigrant school kid who didn't speak English. I became the target of the Physical Ed teacher who used to lift me up by my neck (he was smart to know not to grip my neck to tight or he would have strangled me) in front of the whole class and telling all the kids that I needed to "put some meat and mashed potatoes on my bones", which all the kids found hysterical. It stung and I remember the feeling of embarrassment and shame.

Today, I feel so blessed blending in as a woman. I use women's public bathrooms all the time without anyone giving me a double take. It's gratifying to be called "Miss" or "Ma'am" by sales staff, workers, etc.

Karma has come around and now is my time.

I answered 5'7", but I'm actually a smidgen under that at 5'6" 3/4 (169.5cm) but it was the closest of the two options. However that measurement is at least 7 years old and I don't trust myself to measure myself accurately, especially if we're going by quarters of an inch.

Most of my height change is from connective tissue changes, in the foot and pelvis, that related to pelvic rotation that cost me an inch or so.

Aging has a bit of influence as well.

I used to be 5'6", but age took me down to 5'5". Growing up I was the shortest kid in the boy's line for school pictures. They lined us up by height so the photographer could just continually lower his tripod. I was always at the end of the line. I hated hated hated it - until I transitioned. Now I'm an average-height woman. After all the crap I've gone through to get here, I'll enjoy that one advantage.

No perceivable changes due to HRT.

You've probably heard this before, but 6' really isn't all that tall for a woman any more. So many gorgeous women are that tall, and they enhance it with heels. Be you! I'll be down here trying to see past all the regular height people. [emoji16]

I used to be 5'11"

Somehow, I've lost an inch.  I'm not ready to place it on HRT yet, because it could be due to the abuse I subjected my body to over the years.  It could also be the difference between the combat boots my height was initially measured with and the tennis shoes from a couple months ago.  So many variables to consider.

To be exact the nurses that measure me have said 6 1 and 1/2 for several years so I think I shrunk a touch.

I am very self conscious about my height but at my new place of work there is a woman taller than me in the office YAY
and she is very pretty also I saw another one in the main concourse (huge campus ) and she was at least as tall as me and was also very attractive.

Taller women are getting more common, thank God  :D

Many years ago I dated a woman my height - she was very self conscious as well but she was striking.  My guy friends used to ask if I was paying her.   ;D

I remeasured my height tonight and I was 5 foot 9 inches so it seems that I have shrunk an inch.

Hugs,
    Chelsea
That is exactly my experience!  I initially  clicked 5'9" but then had to subtract shoes so 5'8" down from 5"11"  I wonder if lack of testosterone is reason for the height lost or is it just getting older?

I was always told 6'3" but my doctor measured 6'2" at first appointment.

I'll see in June at my next if any change.

179.5cm (basically 5'11").
I do gain half an inch when corseted because my scoliosis has a chance to straighten out.

I was actually 5'9" when I started oestrogen (same height as my twin sister) - of course we were only 19.

I'm 5'16" so I know I'm gonna stick out like a sore thumb. But I'm okay with that. As long as the real me gets to come out for the remainder of my life I'll be a happy girl!

I'm 173 cm or 5'8" tall, and all of my female colleagues are 4" shorter, but I often look up to the teenage girls I teach.

Perfect Height for Me :icon_woowoo:
OK, in real numbers 6' give or take a quarter inch
I am one of the shorter Transgender women in my social group (the shortest is around 5' 8" and the tallest about 6' 6" in flats) and each of us is amazing  :icon_yes: .  Now finding amazing clothes to fit...quite another issue :icon_wink:

Before HRT, I'm right at 5'5". I can't complain! When I was an angsty preteen (who had dysphoria but wasn't yet aware what being trans was), I was trying to be a boy, and was worried about me being so short. Now I feel very blessed. I'm very near average for a woman. =D

179cm - whatever that is in imperial!

fairly tall, but I'm lucky to have a pretty slim figure and size 8 feet, so I can't complain too much.

I was measured once (probably when in the military) at 5'8".  That has been my answer ever since then.  I haven't measured myself in a long time, so I have no real idea if my height has changed or not.  It won't have changed a lot, so it is probably close enough.

Once upon a time, I used to be 6'1".  Now I am, depending who is measuring, between 5'10" and 5'11".

I am a little on the tall side for a female, ad to make matters worse, I like to wear 3" to 4" high heels.

I was 6'7" when I started HRT and lost nearly 2 inches to 6'5¼". I'm still a tall amazon woman, but those 2 inches allow me to wear some heels without worrying about hitting door frames, LOL

Sydney, you mean 5'19"??
I was 5'20" when I started....still 5'20"
Grew 18" in one year as a kid so that destroyed most of my cartilage, so I'll be 5"20 when I eventually assume room temp.
I duck through all door frames whether in heels or otherwise.

Not too worried about it, though. I'm relatively slender, I have more than an 80' reach, & my inseam is 34'.

I joke with my boyfriend that what he's going to end uup with in the end is a WNBA player. :D

Left the Navy 10 years later at 5'9" (got to love walking on metal ship decks for 5 years to compress things)
20 years after Navy 5'8" and a kiss.

6'1 & 1/2" at 66, I was 6'3" at 15 & stopped growing then. Doctor thinks it's an age thing, Mum was 6' & dropped 2" in her 60s, Dad 6'3" dropped 3" in his late 60s. I often have people ask if I am Dutch or Swedish due to my height & silver hair!

Dear Jessica:

You are not the only "short" one here...  I am also  5foot 3inches

If I stand tall and fluff up my hair I can "approach" 5foot 4inches
As gravity and my age continues on... I am shrinking!!!!!

My drivers license has always said 6'0" from when I was a teenager.  I don't know if I shrunk or if it's always been wrong. I'm closer to 6'0" than 5'11", so I sticking with 6 feet if anyone asks.

Come to think of it, they don't let you put your hight in less then one inch increments on your license. So maybe I didn't shrink.  ;D

Paulie.
