Title: Suicide Resources--Phone, Websites, Text, Chat
Post by: Arch on December 21, 2011, 07:58:15 PM
If you are feeling suicidal and need help, please remember that the members at Susan's are not trained for such an emergency. A suicide hotline can save your life.

The information below is accurate to the best of my knowledge; do notify me if you find a mistake. These resources are offered in the spirit of community. Neither Susan's nor any of its members shall be held responsible for any errors.

If you call one of the numbers and it does not work, please get the help you need from another hotline or your country's emergency number (in the U.S. and Canada, call 911; in the U.K., call 999 or 112; in Australia, call 000; in the E.U., call 112).

Regarding UK Samaritans calls.

0845 numbers are 'local rate' calls.

However their website does state the following:

QuoteFor callers who can't afford the cost of a call, Samaritans accept reverse charge calls from landline and mobile telephones and also from telephone call boxes. Additionally, callers can also ask us to call them back and then the cost of the call is paid for by Samaritans.

This is a matter of dialing 100 (or just 0) for operator on your phone and then asking to make a reverse-charge call to the number.

Hope this helps.

Can i add a couple of NZ ones here?

There's youthline for teenagers - 0800 37 66 33
www.youthline.co.nz (http://www.youthline.co.nz)

And for general suicide hotlines according to your region - go to www.suicide.org (http://www.suicide.org)

And in a real emergency, dial 111 and they'll do their best to help you.

Hope this helped o~o
