Title: Considerations for a better life
Post by: karenpayneoregon on September 02, 2016, 02:40:17 PM
I think it's safe in saying, each one of us here are on a journey were the path is clear for some while others unclear. This leads me to the following quote which I stumbled on several years ago.

When it comes to life, we spin our own yarn, and where we end up is really, in fact, where we always intended to be."
-Julia Glass, Three Junes

This quote, for me is an anchor in that there is truth to some degree with "we spin our own yarn" thinking of our journey's. Some feel that the cards are heavily stacked against them from all angles that makes them feel like there is no escape. This is true for some, the cards are stacked against them and are constrained by chance be it their environment, age, lack of self-support are things that rise to the surface.

With that I would like to challenge those in situations that seem like there is no light at the end of the tunnel by considering a few options.

The first consideration is to look into improving your chances at a better life by education. There are plenty of scholarships out there for the taking if one can't afford paying for the classes.

Second consideration, research through local and out of the area for better jobs along with moving to a new area and starting out fresh. This takes a lot to move forward with yet one does not know unless they do the research.

Moving back to the quote "and where we end up is really, in fact, where we always intended to be." Which my interpretation is, one can take what has been given to them and make the best of it or break out of their current area by improvement in education and surroundings.

I did both suggestions were my profession was selling and installing custom window treatments for Bloomingdales to a profession in computer software development and moving 3,000 miles to start out fresh 22 years ago and have never looked back.

In closing this is not for everyone yet wanted to put the ideas out there and perhaps inspire someone to take a chance and improve by doing this by yourself, for yourself because nobody will do this for you.
