Ok, here's the deal. I royally suck at drawing. I can't even draw a stick figure that's even half decent. But I have always wanted to be able to sit down and create beautiful art. You remember Jack's drawings in Titanic? I would love to have that kind of ability. Another reason is I would give my right arm to be a tattoo artist. It's always been a strong interest of mine. It's pretty obvious when you look at me because with the exception of genitals and feet, every part of my body has at least 1 tattoo. And yes that includes face.
So what I'm asking is, does anyone know where I could take some kind of class or something to learn how to draw? I'm in Columbia Missouri so something relatively close to me would be preferable. Hell, even online classes would be better than nothing.
A community college might be a good place to start looking. They often tend lean more toward the art and humanities and away from the science and engineering classes. The odds are every so often you receive a catalog of classes that your local community college offers. Many are night classes or on the week end so they don't interfere with work.
If that fails, try looking for continuing adult education as that's what the classes are normally called.
Be wary of signing up for more than you need in terms of art education. You don't want to be stuck doing what I'm doing (soon to be finished) and stuck with essays and writing sketchbooks when all you need is a pencil, paper, some basic theory books to get the foundation and then practice in your own time. Supplement that with life drawing evening classes, and try to draw observationally as well as from imagination, and you'll get really good in 10 years. It's going to take awhile as your brain has alot of changes to make.

Art classes are a supplement to your own practice that you do in your own time.
There are tons of online tutorials on YouTube and the like you can get for free that will teach you the exact same thing. A long time ago I signed up for a night school class in drawing... I wasn't a complete beginner but they didn't even teach the students the basics. All they did was copy postcard pictures. I went hoping for some kind of feedback or pointers or anything, but the teacher had none for me.
In the end I realized you can get everything you need in a place like YouTube and you can practice with just about anything as a subject. Books can be helpful but you don't even need those in the digital age. But if you want tutoring there are people on Patreon and places like that who will do video classes with you. Again, you can still get these for free if you search.
