Title: Debi & Tia's Grand Wedding Adventure
Post by: Anne Blake on August 02, 2018, 06:23:35 PM
Greetings one and all to the inaugural post of the "Deb and Tia's Grand Wedding Adventure".

My lovely bride, Debi, and I will celebrate our wedding ceremony on the 11th of August (just nine days, oh no....so much to get done!!!). We have been blessed in that several sisters from Susan's will be joining this celebration with us. A bit over a week after that day we will begin a month plus long honeymoon road trip to the east coast. It is our intention to try to do as much of the east coast as that hurricane abused section of land allows, from Nova Scotia to Key West. One or the other of us will be posting updates and pictures of this grand adventure as time allows.

Please stay tuned to this thread to watch the drama unfold.

Tia Anne & Debi

BTW: if any of you along our path (Colorado, Nova Scotia, Key West, Colorado) care for a visit from a couple of crazy old ladies, please pm me.

We hope to, it just requires this Luddite learning how to do such a thing. Perhaps Laurie can teach me when she visits.

Thank you all for your messages of congratulations, this is indeed a very big and special event for us. When we tried on our dresses, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. BTW, wait until you see how gorgeous my bride is in her gown! and for me, looking in the mirror and seeing myself in such a beautiful dress, an image that we never believed would be possible....and Friday we are going to our bridal shower (not really shower, no gifts and games, just the bridal party getting together to party). Sorry for running on, just can't help myself....

Laurie and Michelle, Debi says that the two of you should be taking notes.

Greetings All,

This is count down week and sooo much still to get done! Last Saturday we celebrated with our gals in the bridal party. All of the usual fixings. A request we have made with the wedding is that instead of gifts for us we are trying to do a Pass It Forward. Our friend that hosted the wedding was easily talked out of silly bridal games and we spent the first part of our evening putting together bags for the homeless and needy in the Denver area. We thought it was a wonderful way to have the wedding party bond. After 34 years together, who needs 10 new toasters and Deb says that making wedding dresses out of toilet paper is just a waste of toilet paper....she is ever the pragmatic one. Where we are burning up paper is with the continually growing list of must do tasks prior to the ceremony Saturday. For everything that gets crossed off, two more get added. We are looking forward to seeing what actually takes place.

Today was spent with our granddaughter (11 tomorrow) preparing her to be our flower girl and ring bearer. Tomorrow birthday party, Wednesday spent at a spa, Thursday pedis and mannis plus an essential car service, Friday setting up reception area with rented canopies, tables, chairs et al.. In the midst of all this is the need to prepare food for the reception, finish fitting our dresses, welcome visitors and guests, oh yes, need to write some vows, put together a sound track for the reception, breathe, drinks for the reception, choose some champagne for the toast, breathe, get our rings cleaned, prepare an itinerary for the honeymoon road trip and remind each other that we are having the time of our lives! Wouldn't trade it for anything! Squeeeeeeeeee!

We realize that all this cannot be done by the two of us alone so we are looking forward to the arrival of two traveling waifs (and perhaps a pair of honey badgers?) that may show up in a day or two.....that is unless they notice this post and figure out what is awaiting them.

Enough for now, and for those of visual orientation, pictures may show up if one of those traveling waifs can teach me how to post them.

I was lucky enough to get a picture with the brides at the bridal party last Saturday.

It is also my privilege to be a bridesmaid at the wedding and I can't wait.  The wedding is going to be great no matter what because of the beautiful brides.

PS: I am on the east coast if you would like to visit.........the east coast of Australia, if that counts. [emoji2]

Tia, it is your sisters who are blessed that we can be there with you and for you. Ever since we got to spend time together in Phoenix, and experienced your classy, warm, and caring attitude toward all around you, I have been looking forward to this event. And to be invited to take a small part in the ceremony is like a dream. Every girl wants to be part of a beautiful ceremony such as this, and until recently I wasn't even allowed to acknowledge the "girl" part, much less my desire to take part in such a thing. I simply cannot express how much of an honor and a pleasure it is.

Thank you, and see you in a few days. The hugs will be huge!

Your loving sister,

Stephanie

We are now five days past wedding and I am finally beginning to breath again. After Tia got this started I found I was too busy to help her post. Thanks to so many of you who have participated in making it all such a special time. Also many, many thanks to Michelle and Laurie for staying in Colorado and helping us slow life back down. I had not realized how wound up I had gotten. It has been a wonderful week of visiting, laughing, enjoying one another's company and eating. So much good food prepared by our traveling friends. Thank you both for all your loving care. We start preparation for travel tomorrow. Planning to head out the beginning of the week. Honeymoon here we come!

Jessica Rose and Susan, thank you for the wonderful photos you both took. I have been working my way through them and it is great to see scenes that I missed as the day went by.  You have helped us see our day from all angles. What a precious gift.

Day One of Honeymoon Travel. Got a late start, took awhile to figure out how to pack all our shoes. Finally left the house at 3pm and followed our "planned" route of Hwy 34 to I76 to I80 until we bedded down in Kearney, Nebraska. Laurie we only did 350 miles today but will try to exceed it tomorrow. The "plan" is to make our way up to Canada by way of Detroit then follow the St Lawrence toward the Atlantic and Nova Scotia. Bay of Fundy and Kathy here we come.

Hi ladies,

A late start is better than no start. And 350 miles is pretty good for such a late start. The important part is that you two are together for this delightful outting.  The joy is derived from traveling with the one you love and in meeting with friends along the way. Though I tend to emphasize the distance, it really isn't about that.
Enjoy the trip and know you two are loved by those you touch.

  Hugs,
   Laurie

I looked up whether squeeesplosives [emoji769] were allowed in the Great White North, and it turns out that they are excellent polar bear repellents. Used within a one mile radius of observatories, they prevent the wildlife from stealing telescopes. Who knew?

It's far more important to enjoy the journey together than to cover miles of the land.

I hope you two make some wonderful memories on your trip. I know you will make new friends.

The end of day two or at least not planning to go anywhere else tonight. We made it out of Nebraska, through Iowa (my home state), and to Princeton, Illinois today. Lots of I-80, corn fields, rolling hills and talk. Most of the road trips we have taken had the format of T doing the driving and I would read a book aloud to us. So far Anne of Green Gables hasn't been started. I thought that would be a good one since we are headed to Prince Edward Island, Canada first and it was written there. It is a classic that I read when I was a girl but it must not of grabbed me since I only read it once. I was way more in to Nancy Drew. Today the skies were way less smoky then yesterday and I had less eye burn but I think Tia is still dealing with allergies. I know both of us were ready to get off the road this evening. Still working at getting into the swing of traveling. I'm sure that by October we should be pros. Have you produced any training videos, Laurie, on the correct way to road trip? I know you often speak of dirt roads and no plans. We haven't figured either of those rules out yet. Signing off for tonight. Deb

When you head north from I-80 toward Detroit, you can either take US-23 or I-75. If you take US-23, just after you cross the Michigan line, at about mile marker 5, you will pass a rest area. On the other side of the highway, where the power lines cross, is the airport I used to fly my ultralights out of. If you then continue up US-23 and go east on I-94, approximately 6 miles down the highway on the south side of the road you'll pass Ford Lake. 1/4 mile past there, one street short of the pedestrian walkway over the highway (which I walked every day to junior high school) is my childhood home, right behind the strip mall. The building that looks like an A&P grocery store was in fact the A&P grocery store where I had my first full-time job out of high school, in 1977.

Ah, old memories. And I do mean old...

Today is day three of our grand honeymoon trip and we are traveling through areas of both the US and Canada that I have never traveled in before. It is fun to seeing new areas of both countries.

Steph, we did travel through your old stomping grounds, truly a beautiful area.

We have made it to London, Ontario and have bedded down for the night. The day started in Princeton IL, driving through miles and miles of corn fields.....and those fields continued all the way up into Canada. The further north we got the more deep woods encroached on the fields and we have been getting glimpses into what these great north woods must have been like a few hundred years ago. In some places they almost feel like they have a presence of their own. I hope to have a chance to hike is some of the forest lands before getting back to the more populated parts of civilization.

One drawback to traveling in Canada is that our cell phone carrier has no contracted towers here so our phones are useless. Takes traveling back to the good old dark ages...tomorrow we will search out a Canadian road atlas.

So far on this trip, everyone we have talked with has celebrated with us in the honeymoon of a couple crazy married ladies.

My pillow is calling me so we will post more tomorrow.....and one of these posting will contain pictures, I promise.

Kathy, take warning. We are now in Canada and just a couple of provinces away and heading east. Not to worry, we don't threaten refrigerators but will try to find some chocolate to share.

A good solution for international data service on your smart phone is to buy a local SIM card.  You probably don't care about voice (much), but if you get 1 GB of data, that will get you your maps, restaurant lookups, etc.  Since you'll be in Canada for awhile it might be worthwhile.  Prepaid SIM cards are usually cheap, on the order of $15 or so.  Often the store will put it in for you.  7-11's and similar shops often sell these.

Well yesterday was a nightmare. The traffic was hideous. The GPS tried to reroute us into the US through Niagara Falls. We turned her off.(After looking at the map today and knowing what traffic was like yesterday I now see what she was trying to do.) Anyway, I got us lost after hours of stop and go traffic, frustration on both our parts and enough tension between the two of us to have Tia suggest putting me on a plane home. I really don't enjoy flying. Anyway we scrapped getting to the place we had reserved in Drummondville and finally found a place in Cornwell. That wasn't easy either since there is some big dog show going on here and we didn't get in until after 9:30 p.m. A very nice young lady took pity on us and called around to find somewhere that still had an open room. Ended up at the NAV Center which use to be an old navigation training center. (Stephanie, they have a flight board that shows all the flights in the air right behind the check in counter.) The fact that it was a training center means it is laid out like an old school dormitory with very, very narrow hallways that feel like tunnels leading you into the netherlands and tiny rooms. We both have a room with a bed but the space is confining. Tia has claustrophobe. What I didn't mention was that about 8 p.m. while trying to get directions to get us unlost, I tripped and took a hard fall onto a petrol station floor and have a bad pain on my left side which is still not showing a bruise this morning. By the time we found beds last night we were both hurting puppies and I am afraid were not acting like the love birds that Laurie claims we are. Hoping to reclaim the title today. Signing off for yesterday. Deb

Wow Debi, every trip has to have one of those days. Now you have it behind you. It is especially tough when you are tired. Take a deep breath and get some ice on your back. I have back issues and drive long distances with ice on mine. It really helps with the muscles. Just be safe.

I'm so sorry about the high-traffic stressful day. I suppose it was a Friday thing. I hope today is better!

Maybe you needed navigational help from Laurie. She'd have put you onto quiet, gravel roads. Still would have taken just as long, but as least no traffic!  Take care and I hope it becomes enjoyable again today.

I am sorry to hear about the traffic and stress yesterday.  Good idea to stop at Cornwall rather than pushing on to Drummondville.  It is not a good idea to try to get around two metropolises in one day.  I hope you have an easier time of it today!

Oh my! I'm sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. I am so happy for you both. I hope I didn't get here too late? I need the afternoon to start at the beginning and catch up.

Hugs,
Donica.

It was wise to stop at Cornwall rather than trying to get through Montreal on a Friday evening!

I'm sorry this was so stressful for you two. I'm slowly learning how to do lower stress travel from Laurie, but it is very different from how I learned and the way most people are comfortable traveling.

My hope is that this will be a minor glitch in your honeymoon and could be something to laugh at when all is done. I've learned that loving one another is more important than the place one is in.

Thank you all for your well wishes and hopes for happiness, it must have paid off as today was much better. Our attitudes are much better, the only fighting we did today was who got which donut at Tim Horton's. Deb won but we are not so sure about her injuries from her fall yesterday, possibly a cracked rib. We are going to wait and see how it plays out and I get to carry the luggage for a while.

Last night we stayed at a place called the Nav. It is/was affiliated with the aviation industry and was or maybe still is a training facility for air traffic controllers and possibly a bunch more. Scattered around the grounds were all type of airfield hardware, especially a bunch of antennas and radar equipment, presumably training hardware. It looked like a place that some of our aviation fanatics and radio heads (Michelle, is that an acceptable term?) might enjoy.

We headed north east along the Saint Lawrence waterway until we were stopped by large bodies of water and had to turn east south east. The scenery was beautiful and the conversation was great, for a couple of crazy and moderately broken down ladies on a road trip....we still haven't made it to "Thelma and Louise" levels but we still have four or five thousand miles yet to go.

I missed Woodstock when I was younger so I thought that I might try it now. We pulled into Woodstock New Brunswick for the night but no one here has seen hide nor hair of Jimmy Hendrix. In the morning we plan to head over to Cavendish Prince Edward Island for a couple of nights before dropping down to Nova Scotia to visit our favorite astrophotographer.

Enough for now though Deb may chime in with her own observations in a bit.

Hugs to you all,
Tia Anne

Hi you two,

I am so glad today was much better than yesterday. I saw so many chiming in with their condolences that I felt I didn't need to add mine. I probably would have said something wrong anyway, so I left it at saying nothing at all. I will say that your distress gave me a bit of sympathetic distress too. I know you two are human, but I just cannot imagine you two at odds with each other. Now you two just cut it out. Do you hear me? Cut it out. No more rifts in the harmony of the universe.
I hope Deb's pain is nothing more than bruised ribs. They can feel as bad as a crack of break. Take it easy on her for a few days and if it doesn't improve take her to see a doctor.

Harmony and bliss from here on out and give that perky Canadian a hug for me when you see her. Take a look at the top of her fridge and see if it is clean. It will need to be before I get there and I will get there.

Love and Hugs,
  Laurie

DAY FIVE
A special Hi to Donica for joining us on our adventures. I assure you that you are not too late to follow us through our adventures and misadventures (yesterday). I am hoping for less days like that one. Hopefully soon we will start posting pictures. Thank you to all who posted shots of the wedding. As someone else says on this site, "didn't happen if there are no pictures." Wish someone could get my ribs to believe that. I spent most of the day with my seat back napping. Tia drove us though some very pretty countryside, most of it along the St Lawrence River, but I admit to missing most of it. There were a few roads I saw when I was awake that Laurie would of loved. We didn't take any of them though. Just looked down them. Lots and lots of deep woods in this area. We are now traveling south along the Trans Canadian Highway and tomorrow will follow it east across New Brunswick to Cavendish, Prince Edward Island. The plan is to have a couple of days there, where I hope to be able to catch up on photo work and be able to do some actual photography. Taking shots as I ride in a car is not for me and we have spent a lot of time in the car to get where we are. Stay tuned pictures are on the way.

Deb signing out for tonight

Ouch Deb...that's sounds painful. Hopefully a bit of taking it easy will make things far more bearable for you. I guess when you have a few "dusts ups" over the trivial stuff in life, it gives you a good excuse to "make up" which is always a lot of fun. :D If I was ever to come to blows with Meryl it would be in a Kitchen and the Term "Doesn't work well with others" will apply equally to us both , I am unsure what it is about Kitchens that does it to us  :icon_google:.. . Thanks for sharing such a intimate part of your life with us I for one have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the photo's, reading the updates from those who attended and of course you sharing your honeymoon with us. Loved it all :icon_hug:

Take care

Wow Tia and Debi!!! Thanks for the warm welcome to your thread. That was a beautiful wedding. Congratulations to you both on your wonderful day. Everyone looked so pretty in wedding party pictures, especially you two in your absolutely stunning wedding gowns. I did get to see a few of the wedding pictures while following Laurie and Michelle on there road trip. Wow! Kendra plays the Violin. I think Laurie has the road trip thing down. I think her secret to low stress travel is that she doesn't make much of a plan other than to just go with the flow. That way if things don't go as planned, there's always tomorrow. Debi, I hope you feel better soon. I've had sore ribs before and know it's no fun. I've never been that far north on the east coast before but the image you describe of beautiful scenery and thick forest sounds a lot like places I've visited in Oregon. I can't wait to see more pictures. Take you time and enjoy your honeymoon love birds!

Lots of Hugs,
Donica.

Tia and Debi arrived safely in Nova Scotia.  Wendy and I are delighted to finally get to meet them.  They are such lovely people!  We had a nice meal down by the harbour and got to know each other.

I guess this evening didn't officially happen because we didn't get any pics.  But we know the rules, so we'll be sure to take some tomorrow. ;)

Hello All, DAY 9 is winding down and we have had a wonderful outing with Tia in the driver's seat, Kathy acting as navigator and tour guide, and me allowing Ella to get me around in the wonderful, quaint town of Annapolis, Nova Scotia. Ella is my wheel chair that we use in lieu of my spending hours on my feet. Tia finds it is the only time I allow her to "push me around". We had a delicious lunch at a quaint cafe on the main street then toured the second oldest wooden structure in North America (still standing) built in 1605.Then we toured Fort Anne and walked (got pushed) around the battlements of the fort. A splendid day for this history buff. Thank you Kathy.

Now we are back at our little yellow cottage situated in the heart of Harbourville overlooking the Bay of Fundy. It is getting close to magic light hour so I will sign out for now and go out to take some photos.

Tia, Debi and I went for a visit to historic Annapolis Royal, one of the first European settlements in North America.  We had a great lunch out on the patio at the restaurant.  We had good food and lots of good conversation.

I played tour guide while they visited the museum, which is in the second-oldest wooden building in Canada.  (The restaurant is in the third-oldest wooden building.  If you are wondering about the oldest, it is right around the corner.) We also visited the Fort Anne historic site.

Tomorrow, the plan is to look at second-hand clothing stores.

Yes indeed, we did have a great day with Kathy today in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. And if pictures are the requirement to prove that it did happen then here is a picture of Kathy and Tia in the second oldest wooden building in North America.

Actually if it just takes posting a picture to make something true then the picture is of Kathy and Tia, the first two women on the moon, in an old wooden building they took with them.

Prince Edward Island was our first more then one night stay and I think We were in need of a break since we slept in even though we got to bed earlier then we had been on the road and slept in both mornings we were there. We enjoyed Cavendish, PEI even though it was a huge tourist trap. We found a very nice restaurant and did enjoy the opportunity to see where Lucy Maud Montgomery lived and wrote Anne of Green Gables. Any of you ladies who have not read it, I suggest you do. PEI is what I consider a whimsically magic place. Got into Cavendish late afternoon on Sunday and headed for Nova Scotia late morning Tuesday. Well rested and happy that a five hour drive was all we had between us and another three night stay in one place.

The proof that it happened are pictures of Tia and me standing with the Saint Lawrence Bay as our backdrop, Tia buying the promised chocolates for Kathy and Wendy from Anne's Chocolate Shop and buying cookies from a quaint little bakery in Rustico for the two of us. The cookies have a secondary story in that when we left the Island we got lost enough that Tia stopped to ask for directions and a nice older man and his wife, who were headed in the same direction,  told us to follow them. We did and in a little while we knew where we were at and they pulled over and told us we should be able to get to our destination if we continued on the road they had set us on. We traveled on not thinking about them until Tia stopped on the side of the highway and was digging around in the backseat when they pulled up in front of us. Everyone got a good laugh that she was just looking for the cookies that had been packed in the backseat. My side was still too painful for me to being doing contorsions getting anything from the backseat in a moving car. (Moni, it is now two full days later and I am seeing improvement. The only time it has hurt today is when I sneeze, cough or laugh real hard.) The laughing part has been too common with Kathy and Tia being so much fun to be around.

Day 10

With sad heart we must bid farewell to Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy in the early morn. It is a beautiful place and we have had three wonderful days here. Thank you so very much to Kathy and Wendy who have been wonderful hostesses of this place and excellent tour guides. For any of you on Susan's who are trying to come up with somewhere to travel to this is a must for any travel itinerary. Thank you! Thank You! Thank YOU! Kathy and Wendy. We love you both and you are both truly beautiful women. Body and soul.

Today Kathy and Wendy took us to Wolfville for shopping, ice cream and visiting then to an excellent Thai place for dinner and more visiting. A perfect day and we so didn't want to leave but tomorrow we have a ferry to catch that will take us over to New Brunswick and one more night in Canada before we head south to Maine. The sunset photo is from the beach which is across the road from our little yellow cabin. My only regret  is that I never saw a high tide. The boats in the harbor continued to sit on ground in the harbor. No pictures so maybe it is the Bay of Fundy's grand hoax.

Actually if it just takes posting a picture to make something true then the picture is of Kathy and Tia, the first two women on the moon, in an old wooden building they took with them.

Lovely pictures ladies. Wow Kathy and Wendy! What a wonderful place to live. The oldest wooden buildings in North America and they look to be in very good shape for their age. Ah yes, I see where you got your lovely new avatar picture Kathy. Tia and Debi, I'm so glad you two are having such a wonderful trip. Is that a telescope Tia and Kathy are standing in front of? Please do tell? Yes, you can call me the Cosmo's girl. I'm such a nut about the Cosmo's. Have fun ladies!

Hugs,
Donica.

Yes, that is my observatory.  I gave Tia and Debi the 10-cent tour.

I have several telescopes, but only one is in use at any one time.  My main hobby is astrophotography.  You can see my pictures at: http://www.dulcemelos.ca/en/catalogue.asp (http://www.dulcemelos.ca/en/catalogue.asp)

Wow!!! me too Kathy. Cool! Another Astro girl. I don't have any of my equipment any more. I wanted to build my own Observatory so I wouldn't have to carry everything in and out every night. A 12" reflector can be quite heavy. I used to set up my Meade 10" cassegrain and record the moon hoping to catch an impact. Apartment life has ended those days  :'(. I bookmarked the Hall's Harbour Observatory. I used to be a member of the Bradford University robotic telescope group. They seem to full up these days as I can't get signed up anymore. Maybe one day I'll pick up a 4" cassegrain and set it up on my balcony. I'm not sure how I will align it because the north star is not visible from my balcony. Keep gazing the heavens Kathy!

Donica.

Just a brief intrusion into the galaxy watching conversation. By the way, the photos on Kathy's site are just plain awesome and worth perusing.

Deb and I just left Nova Scotia this morning and I wanted to make a comment on an observation from our time with Kathy and Wendy from yesterday. Yesterday we spent time wandering the streets of Wolfville, not too far from Kathy and Wendy's home. While walking and talking I noticed several folks that belong in our LBGTQ+ alphabet soup mix. Some were obvious and some were subtle, blending in fairly well. What was beautiful to see is that no one on the streets looked or commented or stared or pointed or anything, they just went about their business as if it were the way life is meant to be. I have not found many places in the states that are as openly accepting as what we saw in Kathy's community. So far on this trip we have passed through five provinces of Canada from Ontario east and we have not had one uncomfortable experience due to gender identity issues and I definitely can't say that about traveling like distances back home.

Ok, that has been said, bring back the star gazing talk...it is neat stuff.

Tia Anne

And Steph, time to update the travel map, tonight we are in Saint John New Brunswick and tomorrow we will be visiting Bar Harbor and the Acadia national park in Maine

Two things have made my transition as smooth as it has been.  One is the support of my wife.  And the other is the acceptance of the community.  We haven't done much travelling since this adventure started, so it is interesting to hear how you have experienced acceptance on your travels.

And speaking of neat stuff, you and Debi are a truly neat couple.  We thoroughly enjoyed your visit and having a chance to get to know you.  Anyone who is on your schedule for a visit is in for a treat!

Hello my star-gazing friends,
This is earth log, DAY 11 and we are now back to earth and enjoying a room at the Hampton Inn in Saint John, New Brunswick. This will be our last day/night in Canada. Tomorrow the "plan" is to cross into Maine and run down to the Acadia National Park.

Our ferry ride from Digby, Nova Scotia was enjoyable. Good weather, stable boat and a place to sit back with my feet up listening to some great music for two hours. I even took some great photos of the ferry and Tia and I can't prove any of it because when I got ready to down load I found my memory card in the computer and not my camera. This was always my greatest fear as a wedding photographer. Luckily when it really mattered, it didn't happen. So to those who need pics as proof here is one of the paperwork I picked up along the way today.

Everything seemed to go well today until we got off the ferry and promptly got lost. It took three different stops for directions before we found our hotel. So we told our woes to the nice young gentleman at the front desk along with the information that we are on our honeymoon and he took pity on these Colorado crazy ladies and upgraded our room to one with a jacuzzi tub. The jets felt wonderful. Now it is coming close to time to be sleeping so I will end this missive for tonight. Hope you all enjoy your star-gazing. Kathy's shots are amazing and beautiful.

That's ok Debi. Kathy and Wendy have proof of your visit to Nova Scotia. Sorry to hear the memory card was in the wrong place. I'm sure the ferry ride was a wonder experience. Wow! A jacuzzi tub! How relaxing. I trust it was a two person tub? Nothing better than a relaxing jacuzzi bath with your SO. Thanks for the updates you two love birds.

Day 12 of these wild adventures

Deb and I traveled back to the states this morning and are currently lodging in Millbridge Maine after a quick visit to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor this afternoon (going back for more in the morning).

Crossing the border was very eventful with a clear and uncomfortable case of mis-gendering. Deb wrote of it in her diary so I will just put it into her words (paraphrased a bit by me because I can).

"Back in the USA! AWK! AWK! AWK! Border patrol surrounding the car with hands on their guns! I think that they are as surprised as we are. Next they politely ask us to park the car and come inside and sit on the hard stone bench (we both thought of the "group w bench scene from Alice's Restaurant"). An hour later they finally call us up to the counter and tell us that problem was Deb's very common name (Debi Smith) mixed with her birthdate. It seems there is a very bad MAN who also has a name that is close (reported to be Dean by the agent) and the same birthdate and they had to be sure Deb wasn't Dean! Tia Joked that they could have at least cuffed us so that we would have a story to tell our granddaughter and they said that it was touch and go as to us being dragged out of the car, thrown on the ground and cuffed. The cuffs would never have worked as they were just chrome steel and not the fuzzy pink ones that Michelle keeps recommending. After the cuff's were applied and us thrown in a holding cell, they would have checked my (Deb's) gender to be sure that we were safe enough to enter the country. I think that being a couple of old grandma types saved us, Tia thinks that it was her sweet countenance. Whatever the case they let us go and we got back on the road and we have a story to tell.

A couple of side notes: While I (Deb) was talking with the woman agent and Tia was locking up the car, the agent asked, because we have the same last name, if we were sisters and was pleasantly surprised when I said she was my wife and that we were on our honeymoon. The second comment was that Tia pulled what Stephanie would call a Tia thing as she slowed our exit from the station to stop and make small talk with a couple of the boarder patrol women agents (the same ones that were prepared to pull their guns on us an hour earlier). By the time we left, all four of us women were chatting and laughing together."

This may or may not have happened because we did not have the thought power to attempt photographs in the Homeland security office and it did not get to the point of mug shots.

Enough excitement for one day, more postings tomorrow.

Tia Anne

Holy crap!  It kind of reinforces my reluctance to cross the border.

It is so easy to mistake a Dean for a Debi that I suppose there was good reason for them to pull you over.  People get those names and genders mixed up all the time.  ::)

That's terrible Debi and Tia! Oh not that you got pulled aside and investigated but that I don't even have as good a story to tell in my repertoire. We outside of being jealous I guess I am glad they let you two bad senoritas back into the country so Michelle and I will have a place to stay when you finally stop gallivanting around the country.

Hello to all our adventure followers,
DAY 13 came and went without a post from me. I think I needed a break. I do want to tell you about a travel mistake that these two Colorado Crazy Ladies, who have traveled all over the world, made yesterday. Actually this mistake probably happened weeks ago. We did not look at a calendar and PLAN! One of the reasons for visiting this area was a desire to see Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, Maine. We pulled into Bar Harbor yesterday around noon. Then spent the next 45 minutes working our way back out of town. My pictures do not do it justice. People everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. Cars only moving in one direction and once in the queue it was like being on a conveyer belt waiting for the Fates to hand you a parking spot or prod you to continue following the break lights ahead of you until finally Gargoyle (our GPS) took pity on us and led us back to sanity. We headed on to Bangor, Maine and our hotel. We did take a soak in the hot tub and Tia did some laps in the pool.

Our morning had started out so nice in the little village of Milbridge just an hour north of Bar Harbor. We had spent the night in what was an old 50s style motel which overlooked the community garden and inlet from the bay. Had breakfast at a locals resturant and a nice conversation with our waitress about kids and how fast they grow up, she was also the lady who had checked us in to our motel the night before. The motel and resturant were not connected. Small town and people do what they need to, to get by. While at the resturant we overheard a young transman talking to someone who was trying to counsel him. There are times that it hurts to know that you cannot help but it was not the situation to say anything. We did pray for them and the situation as we traveled away from Milbridge.

Here is the proof that yesterday happened.

A DIRT ROAD!!!! You found a nice dirt road!  Dirt roads are do much more nicer than parks and towns full of nasty peoples all intent on telacing and getting away from it all,  all together in the same place.
Thank you for the updates and the pictures. When you get to Sykesville, give Ann a loving hug for me. Their boys are nice polite young men. Careful around Harvey though he drinks a little too much and can get overly affectionate. ( You know how rabbits are .... )
Oh yeah say hi to what's her name, Minerva? Morticians? Meneheunie? Oh heck you know who I  mean, Ann's wife.  No no no Tia, not Debi, the other Ann w/o the "e", the Farmer's wife. Anyway Ann's wife... You can give her a biker babe bear hug for me. If you want that is. But only if you want.

Hugs,

Lately I've found myself looking for quotes from people smarter than I for inspiration. In the old days I would have used this one:

Adventure is someone having a very hard time of it very far away.
- unknown

Now I like this one:

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cash advance.
- also unknown

But seriously, this one is most inspirational:

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

- Helen Keller

And I think this one is the best:

A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.
- Tim Cahill

I can't wait to see you both again!

DAY 14 found us leaving Bangor, Maine with me broken (FM) and on Benadryl. Which means that I slept and Tia had to deal with the stop and go traffic that we had all the way down the coast on the I-95 corridor. Started in Maine, crossed through New Hampshire and are bedding down in White River Junction, Vermont. Now both Tia and I have been in all the US states but Alaska. Alaskan Danielle, would you be up for a visit sometime in the future?

Since most of the day I slept and it took all day to get here with the traffic no photos were taken except for the pic I snapped as Tia got out of the shower. Isn't she adorable?(https://i.imgur.com/Ebs8oQM.jpg)

Not much to report today although we did cross through three States. (I am not including the state of confusion that Benadryl puts me in or the state of frustration that stop and go traffic leaves Tia in.) Stephanie your not keeping up, you still have us in Milbridge, Maine. That's not far enough from the border patrol or the Canadian Mounties. Last night we were in Bangor, Maine and tonight we have made it to White River Junction, Vermont. Tomorrow we are hoping for Lake George, New York.

Signing out for the night,
Debi

Oh my Tia!!! That picture reminds me of a few James Bond movies. Debi, I'm sorry tp here your still now feeling well. Broken? Did you break when you fell? Ouch! That's going to hurt for a while. Thanks for the update. I'm sure Stephanie will update the map soon. She may still be asleep. It's still early where I am.

Hugs,
Donica.

Debi, I am sorry that you are feeling under the weather.  I hope you are feeling better soon.

Tia, as they say in Quebec, Quelles belles jambes!

Hopefully your route will avoid the biggest urban buildups and give you smooth travelling from here on.

Kathy, I just look at them as the only ones that I have but thank you anyway!

By the way, we made sure that the mice didn't get to the chocolate, and thank you for that as well!

DAY 15
An explanation of my being broken is that I have fibromyalgia (FM). Sometimes the pain level is more than I want to handle. Often times I spend what I call a down day and sleep through most of the day. Other days I just deal with what is called fibro fog. My mind feels like it is mush and it is hard to think or make rational decisions. On days like these Tia goes into care taker mode and neither of us are happy campers. Today started out rocky but I seemed to work through it. We left White River Junction and drove over to Woodstock, Vermont. (Yes, for those of you who are paying attention this is our second Woodstock. I think we are making up for missing the first one in 1969.) We checked on the map to see how close we are in New York but it is more out of the way then we want to go to see an empty field. Anyway, Woodstock, VT was a quaint village where we stopped for midmorning dessert and viewed a covered bridge. Here's the proof.

(https://i.imgur.com/UIPUfQ7.jpg)   (https://i.imgur.com/Mf9pUqS.jpg)   (https://i.imgur.com/u57EpGQ.jpg)

Then on to Plymouth VT and the birthplace and home of Calvin Coolidge our 30th President. After a bit of historying we headed in to New York state and our resting for the night place at the Hampton Inn at Lake George, NY.

(https://i.imgur.com/POicfay.jpg)   I thought I was done taking pictures for the day and did not take the camera to dinner at a little Italian restaurant next to the hotel but Tia's reaction to her slice of Italian lemon cream caused me to pull out my phone. It was as close to obscene as one can get at a restaurant table. I titled it "I Want What She Is Having!"

Oh, dear!

I think the Moderation Team might have to review that image of Tia @Anne Blake with the Italian Lemon Cream.  We have rules about explicit images, @Debi !

Looks like a fun day, and a mid morning ice cream break?  I approve!

Do you have to wear any kinda dunce hat or anything when one is banished to the top of the fridge?  ::).

Not as far as I know, though the rules are subject to change at Loomis's... er... Loofah's... um... Laurie's whim.

It's also recommended that you pre-stock the top with chocolate, wine, and #stormchips. Be ready. The vertical boost to higher elevations could happen at any time and with no warning.

Tia Anne

It's a grueling process. The map sits to the side. I type in the location, and I click the button thingy. It can take as much as 10 seconds. Ten seconds I'll never see again. Then I go get a shower and prepare for the next onslaught.

I'm exhausted. Time for bed.

DAY 16
Journalist of the Carship Rosie reporting. I started out as the misfit navigator, but Gargoyle (our GPS) has proven herself so she can keep the job. Tia is our top-notch captain and pilot so I get to be carship journalist on this grand adventure that is beginning to impress those who make the mistake of asking us where we are from and to where are we going. When asked we tell and the story gets longer with every mile. We are now about 4,400 miles in. Some folks are just impressed but some look at us with that look that very clearly says  "you are both completely crazy." Which we take as a complement. Some how I think a honey badger saying should fit right about here.

We had a couple of old guys today who saw our license plate and asked if we were a couple of cowgirls. Said they had never met cowgirls before. . Tia's quick comeback was "no, just a couple of mountain mamas." Don't think they knew quite how to take her although I got a wink from one of them as I went past them a little later. I suppose he was trying to be flirty but he was just too old to be acting fresh.

Got all checked in to our hotel by 4 pm and that includes a stop at a leather shop before we left Lake George this morning where Tia found and bought a real sweet, black, leather vest for riding her Sweet Rose. She does look mighty fine in it.

This might be a long journey that we are on but we are not roughing it at all. My photo for today shows a packed luggage cart with everything we carry in every night. If you notice the blue hanging bag it holds our therapy animals who travel with us. Bear, named Banilla (but called Bear) and Doory the door-stop penguin with ninja security skills sleep with me and Fluff Bear and Kitty Friend are Tia's side kicks. And with that bit of info whimsy I will wish you all a good night.

Here's a better introduction to the crew Of Carship Rosie.

Back row: Lt. Kitty Friend (Leopard extra ordinare), Lt. Vainilla Bear (Spanish pronunciation please) better known as Bear
Front row: Pvt. Fluff Bear 1st class smile maker, Gunny Doory Door-stop Penguin, Ninja Security Detail (If we needed to protect ourselves just grabbing her hat and swinging her into some ones head would cause injury. She is a doorstop and quite hefty and solid.)

Then of course there is The Captain and Pilot

DAY 17 & 18

We are at Moni's and Ann's home. Yesterday we got a leisurely start to our day in Scranton, PA and spent a couple hours touring around the National Historical Steamtown Site in Scranton. Moni, we didn't see any bananas but had a great time seeing trains and learning about how women played a part in the railroad industry.
(https://i.imgur.com/a2Mah8L.jpg)    (https://i.imgur.com/4Jx4azo.jpg)

(https://i.imgur.com/QMYzjP5.jpg)   (https://i.imgur.com/3hYbG5d.jpg)

Then we headed to Maryland through more real pretty country, tree lined roadways (no dirt roads), and a couple different downpours that made seeing the car ahead of us difficult. By the time we got to Maryland the rains had stopped and we are almost finished with reading the first of the Anne of Green Gables series. Have fallen in love with the character of Anne although I think, that is what Lucy Montgomery had in mind when she created her.

Had a lovely time sitting with Ann and Moni enjoying pizza and getting-to-know one another talk to end our day.

Slept well and didn't hear Ann and Moni leave for work this morning. Tia and I are being domestic today. Cleaning out the car and doing laundry. It's nice to be staying put for a few days. Thank you so much to Monica and Ann for making this possible.

Signing out for now,
Debi

Moni seems like she would be very fun to hang out with. Enjoy your restful few days love birds. Oh, and tell Moni I'm still working on that christmas song  ;D.

Donica, I think we could scavenge  the Gilligan's Island or Brady Bunch Song for your theme song. Definite potential there!

Well the Cuties are here. They are so respectful of our privacy and said they would leave it up to us to tell the story. I said as long as they don't talk about our drug running, bookie operation, or smuggling that they could say whatever they would like to about us. For the map of their travels, Stephanie, you can put Westminster MD as the location. We were able to give them a peaceful day to rest yesterday as we had to go to work. Today were are expecting a few friends to join us for a nice  bit of chatting. I have talked to Anne, sorry, Tia for years, but we never met before.I knew how great she is. I only briefly chatted with Debi in the past. I will say that she is such a delightful, warm woman. We are thoroughly enjoying talking and having them here. I already have Tia trained too. She is inside doing dishes as we speak.  Awe, life is great! Talk soon.

DAY I DON"T KNOW. Lost count and didn't check before I started this post. It must be Saturday since Ann and Moni didn't go to work today.

We have had a wonderful rainy day in beautiful Maryland. Started our day with a great breakfast at a crepe shop that Ann and Moni frequent.   (https://i.imgur.com/Bf85c5v.jpg)   Then a walk around the area with Tia and Moni trading off pushing me in the wheelchair. By the time we got home the rain had started and it was just a good day to stay in. Which we did. Terry showed up later afternoon and we all sat around and talked until dinnertime. Just a good day of visiting.  (https://i.imgur.com/1QrWItk.jpg)   (https://i.imgur.com/w8vCUvJ.jpg)

Hi folks,

I think it was nice to see all of you together in one place. I am not quite sure it was a prudent thing for you all to do though. I am pretty sure the local authorities know where Mimi hangs out by now and all of you crazy ladies presented an almost irresistible target. I am surprised they didn't round you all up in one fell swoop. I mean with Debi and Tia's luck at attraction to themselves, it was almost a sure thing.
I was especially pleased to see Terry in you midst. I must say I thought she had better sense than that.

Have you by any chance seen Harvey? He was really upset over Monizzy, letting me use his room when I visited there. I hope she didn't stick you two in his room too.

Isn't Ann a sweetie, Debi? I really enjoyed getting to know her when Myna, would leave me alone long enough to talk to her. I hope you gave her a big hug for me. Oh you can hug that other woman for me too if you want to.

I'm glad, you two made it to MD and got to rest nd visit a day or two. You still have a long way to go before you get home, and miles to go before you sleep as Robert Frost would say.

Be safe on those roads as you continue on. I'll be reading of your adventures as you post them.

Hugs,
  Laurie

DAY 21 Of this crazy adventure and I will start it off with Happy Birthday to Laurie. Are you old enough to join the Crazy "Old" Ladies Club? We will hold a spot for you. Second since I am talking to Laurie I just wanted to let you know, since you warned us about Harvey before we got to Monica's and Ann's that the crew of the Carship Rosie found him to be an exceptionally favorable pooka who had no problem sharing his room. (I'm guessing that he is the one that kept leaving the toilet seat up.)

We had a wonderful visit with Ann and Monica. Thank you so much you two for sharing your home, and family and beautiful area of Maryland. We spent time seeing some history, Veiwing lovely green tree covered hillsides and flowing rivers and streams. (It did rain buckets full while we were there.) Actually they have a beautiful back yard that is quite picturesque.   (https://i.imgur.com/NFoetxH.jpg)

Of course we had a number of good meals which included wonderful talk, met their great kids. We also got to meet the new grand-dog. Spent time watching football, until we decided that Greenbay couldn't pull it out and turned the TV off to pursue playing games. It wasn't till this morning that Tia and I learned they had won. The picture does show a bit of disappointment on Moni's part.  (https://i.imgur.com/hJUZsb8.jpg)

Here are just a few bits of proof that we did Maryland. (Harvey proved to be exceedingly camera shy.)
(https://i.imgur.com/VVu8EdX.jpg)   (https://i.imgur.com/zleDqUs.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/Wt6mLFl.jpg)   (https://i.imgur.com/7YE4j30.jpg) trip to Harpers Ferry.

This has been a fantastic trip but it has taken a direction that has saddened us in that Hurricane Florence has decided to play through. We have made the decision not to mess with Mother Nature and have turned west toward the sunset. Tonight we are in Cabela, West Virginia. The trip has been truncated and we plan to be back in Colorado by the weekend.

Signing out and homeward bound,
Debi and Tia

This truly a sad event when mother nature sends you home. Did she include a note to your caregivers indicating your specific offences against nature? Did she include suitable punishments to be doled out?
You realise there now must be a future road trip aimed in a southeasterly direction to visit those you sorely disappointed.

I think I am old enough now to join the crazy mature ladies club since I believe I am older than all the other members with the exception of Ms Tia Anne.

I loved the pictures. You're all so darned cute. And you're wearing our Pleiades sisterhood necklaces. I'm wearing mine as I write this. I have got to visit with that Monitor person, she looks like loads of fun.

Debi, I can't find Cabela, WV on any map. There are metric tons of Cabela's stores, but I can't find a town with that name. Those who are anxiously tracking your progress are worried. Are you staying in a camping store tonight?

Congratulations on the nuptials.  It's a little out of your way, but consider a swing into Chicago.

Hi Stephanie, The reason that you can't find Cabela WV is because we are in Wheeling WV. You can understand the mix-up as they are so similar in spelling, it must have been the auto correct.

Sorry Denise, We have had enough of cities for a while and can't force ourselves to head into Chicago town at this time...though we do love Chicago and will consider it on our next north east tour.

Hugs to all,
Tia Anne

That must be disappointing to cut your trip short.  But with that hurricane moving in, the roads will be clogged with evacuees, even if you can stay clear of the storm itself.   I think you are making a wise choice.

Ah! I can see how they could be easily confused... with enough acid...

Is someone going to put Florence up on the refrigerator for misbehavior?

I'm sorry the trip is shortened. But you are wise to get out of the way. I was in the mountains of North Carolina for a hurricane in about 1972 and it was four days of solid rain. Flooded much of Pennsylvania too.

Take care!

Yes, that flooding washed away my grandparent's home, where my mom had grown up, way over near Harrisburg.

Thank you Debi. I see Moniker has you hoodwinked if you saw no reason to put her up there. Heck that picture of her pouting in the corner eating ice cream right out of the carton, alone is reason enough.

I'll eat my ice cream up on the fridge when you plan something Loraine! Haha now you aren't the only one with food pictures.

I'm sad today. I came home from work today and 'my cuties' weren't here. :(  If any of you out there are lucky enough to get a visit from these two, do it. They are delightful.

Oh, not sure who left the seat up. Harvey has a part time job as a hurricane hunter and hasn't been here for a while.

I received about 800 photo's yesterday from Jessica Rose of your happy event. I have just had a look at them and they start from the rehearsal and go till the day after (I think) They are fabulous and I said to Jessica Rose that there were so many smiles, hugs and laughter in those photo's they exude happiness. Then we get to ceremony and didn't you two Gals look an absolute treat!!

It is clear from some of the lunacy caught on camera that everyone was having as good time especially a series of photo's of our other resident love birds smooching and smooching and smooching...they can remain nameless LOL Although you know what they say...no photo...it didn't happen...LOL

Will make some time to have another look but suffice to say you all looked....Fabulous Darlings!!

DAY 22
Tonight we Are in Effingham, Illinois. Sorry, Stephanie about the Cabela, West Virginia but I do have proof that the mistake made sense. (https://i.imgur.com/41GCWvU.jpg) Who has a water tower if you are not a town? (https://i.imgur.com/R8Hg4zN.jpg)   (https://i.imgur.com/ED7ltaD.jpg) I took these shots by standing in one spot and shot the water tower, turned and shot the hotel that we stayed at and then shot the Cabela opposite it. Never did see anything that said Wheeling. Tonight we really are in Effingham. Two more nights and we will be home. Today is the first day since last Thursday that we have seen blue skies and sunshine. Hadn't realized that I had been missing them.

We do miss Moni and Ann. Thank you again for our stay with the two of you.
Thank you also to Kathy and Wendy. You two couples have made this a most wonderful trip and Florence can't take that away from us ever. No matter how hard she blows. How does one put a Hurricane on a refrigerator?

I absolutely understand about the water tower. As a pilot, water towers are always the way to know what town you're over.

I don't know about hurricanes on top of fridges,  but have you seen the inside of mine?

The map is updated!

Great pictures Debi and Tia! I'm sorry you two had to cut your trip short but I've been watching the news and all the roads leaving the east coast are packed. It's for the best as this hurricane appears to be one of those big 100 year storms. There's always the next trip. Thanks for sharing your honeymoon trip with us.

Greetings All,

We are well on our way home. It seems that once we headed Rosie towards the barn she has taken the bit in her teeth and wants to get home. We have made it to Hayes Kansas for the night and should be in our own beds tomorrow night. About half way through yesterdays drive the rain let up and the sky blued. Today was about crossing rivers and watching a lot of corn growing. Deb has had one of her down days and has been sleeping while I have been motoring to a lot of classic vinyl on the satellite radio. Moni, your call to the company must have worked because I did not hear Stairway to Heaven even one time.

This trip has been a good one; just over three weeks so far and a ways past five thousand miles. Rosie crossed the one hundred thousand mile mark this morning. I know Laurie, that is still just the beginning of a vehicles lifetime and there are still plenty of good miles yet to be experienced. We had planned to visit several more folks on this trip but limiting it to Kathy Lauren & Wendy and Moni & Ann has left no want for the quality and neatness of people. Spending time with those two twosomes should be on everyone's bucket list.

For those of you that seem to live on the other side of Hurricane Florence's path, we are still really looking forward to visiting you soon. I believe that some sort of Honeymoon restart will probably occur in January. We hope that you are available then.

Love to all,
Tia Anne & Debi

DAY 24
We are now home. Pulled in at 2:00 p.m. Mountain time. Been watching the weather channel this evening and are real happy about the decision we made to head west. For all of you on the east coast, please stay safe.

Today, Colorado had 90 degree weather, blue skies and full sunshine. Of course we also have a couple of wildfires happening. Every place has something. Our original plan was to be at Emerald Isle on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, just 14 miles from Morehead City, tonight. Our cousins evacuated earlier this week.

For now our honeymoon is on hold. We drove 6,121 miles and were in 17 states and 5 provinces of Canada. We have had many adventures and a couple of wonderful visits with some fantastic folk. For those we didn't get to see thanks to Florence we are planning a trip to the Florida area in January. Hope to see you then.

Signing Out,

Here we are and Here we go again. Thank you Stephanie for getting us back up and moving. Actually we are now three days in to this Honeymoon Travels Take Two or Tales of the Wandering Wives. Couldn't make up our minds on a new title. What would you all call it? Last night we spent our stay in Amarillo, Texas after passing through a bit of Oklahoma. So we are in state three and not much out of the ordinary happened until we were almost to our destination of Lewisville, Texas, yesterday afternoon when we suddenly found a lawn mower flying at us. It ran into our bumper and then we ran over it. Don't know how the mower faired but it tore up the faring on the wheel well on the passenger side of the car. Our friend Christine from this area spent some time this afternoon making the car drivable with tin snips and duct tape while I stood and watched and Tia was off dealing with her favorite hair torturer. Thank you Christine for helping us stay on track in our travels. We leave Lewisville in the morning and if all goes as planned will bed down tomorrow night in Mississippi. The state and not the river. Signing off for now. Hopefully will start adding pictures soon. Deb and Tia

OH MY!!! There seems to be a lot of things flying around these days. I have to agree with Laurie. I've never seen a flying mower until Stephanie posted her picture. BTW! I think I may know the fellow that built the mower in Steph's picture. If I am correct, he has built a lot of funny looking flying machines. From Snoopy and his doghouse to giant flying eyeballs (The freakiest thing I've ever seen).

I'm glad you two didn't get hurt. We want our wandering Honeymooners to make it back home safe as sound. Can't wait to see your pictures girls.

Day 4 and just 1300 miles into the trip. Thanks to all our concerned commenters on the last post and thank you Stephanie for the pic of a flying lawn mower. Ours was also red but I didn't think about getting pictures. Since it was hitting my side of the car I was praying that it wouldn't  bounce into the windshield. Luckily once it touched down, we ran over it before it could take back off. I am very thankful for Tia's skillful driving as I am sure she saved our lives. End of the saga of the flying lawn mower but with that kind of excitement on the second day of the trip the rest of our posts could be rather mundane. Today we crossed the mighty Mississippi at Vicksburg and spent the day listening for Gargal to tell us where to go. Gargal is the name of our GPS. Sometimes we listen to her and sometimes we don't. I think tonight we had her frustrated because as we pulled into the hotel she informed us she was done and we would have to walk the rest of the way. We did change our destination for the night. We had planned to stay in Jackson, Mississippi but it just didn't feel like a safe destination. Instead we settled in Hattiesburg, Mississippi (next map point, Stephanie). It is still the deep South but at least when we checked in to the Hilton we were greeted by a couple of sweet young ladies with a "Welcome y'all" in a wonderful southern drawl and we have  high enough status with Hilton that they Will treat us nice. We are looking forward to seeing all you on our path of the south side of our honeymoon travels and as far as frig tops are concerned we don't expect to see any as we come bearing chocolate. Signing off for the evening Deb

Glad you made the decision to stay in Hattiesburg, MS. Nice town, spent a couple of months there in 95 or 96.

Hope the Duck Tape is holding out. Have a safe and enjoyable Honeymoon Trip II.

Stay safe, have an enjoyable time, watch out for mowers, flying or otherwise.

God Bless, Best Always, Love

Hello All,
Sorry I missed yesterday's post. Ended up with a headache last night so took a night off from writing and went to sleep early. Yesterday, we spent the day driving though Mississippi in the rain. Actually through torrential rains. Tia said we spent a lot of time hydroplaning. The other part of the weather scenario was the look of the skies and winds. The skies were dark, with rolling banks of black clouds. We kept watching for possible tornedo funnels. We saw many that could have become tornedos but didn't. It was also very windy all day and some of the large sided vehicles were a bit scary to be around. We bedded down in Tallahassee, FL just before the swath of storms passed through. We heard this morning that a tornado did touch down in Montgomery shortly after we got off the road. Today's travels were less harrowing. We spent the day traveling south along the Gulf Coast of Florida. Today has been a great day of touching people. Had a great conversation at breakfast this morning with a retired couple from San Diego who are traveling around visiting all the state capitols, presidential libraries, and as many national parks as they can hit. It was fun comparing some of the places we have been. At the same time we were having a conversation with the breakfast hostess about her kids. Very enlightening and it always feels good to be able to lift someone's spirits and see them smile. It is also fun to be back in Florida. Saw my first flying pelican this morning and the live oaks are covered in Spanish moss which gives them the look of old men with long beards Yesterday we saw flowering trees in bright pink blossoms, which proved to us that we had made it to the deep South even if the temperature is not as warm as we would like. Tonight we are in Tarpon Springs, Florida. A town along the Gulf Coast that we have enjoyed in the past. We had dinner at Hallas Greek Restaurant and ate way too much but the food was just too good to stop. Hoping tomorrow is a little warmer or at least less windy as I'm looking forward to going down to the Sponge Dock and being a tourist.

Donica, that photo was showing a relaxed hand. The white knuckles came when we were landing into a cross wind and Stephanie did some maneuvers that the Duke's of Hazzard would have been proud of when she needed to scrub some speed. She really is quite an experienced and skillful pilot.

Now that you all have met our travel agent therapy animals, lets get back to playing photo catch-up. By day 4 we were back on the road in Mississippi but now were again meeting flying objects in the form of torrential rain and we spent the day watching the sky just in case the storm giants decided to use us as bowling pins.

(https://i.imgur.com/Sp3shcE.jpg) Tia is pointing at what we are going to be traveling into. (See below)
   (https://i.imgur.com/gelTE5P.jpg)       (https://i.imgur.com/FVO7jrx.jpg)

By day 5 we were in Alabama and by early afternoon Florida was in our sight and the weather was lifting.

(https://i.imgur.com/vGbnMzJ.jpg) This must be Alabama because it's not flat enough for Florida.

Yea! Warm weather here we come - NOT. But at least the storms are in the Atlantic and we do not plan to be. Stephanie and Sue here we come after an over night in Tarpon Spring to grab some fond remembrances. One is a favorite Greek restaurant and bakery. It is also one of Stephanie's favorites.

     (https://i.imgur.com/Pp7TbiO.jpg)   (https://i.imgur.com/WFOAlbB.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/MiimMBY.jpg) We found some characters on the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs and this ones name is George.
Speaking of characters, day 7 is the beginning of our stay with Stephanie. Tia gave you a spoiler alert. Airplane Ride for Tia. I like to keep my feet on the ground if I have anything to say about it.

@Debi   @Anne Blake
Dear Debi and Tia Anne:
Thank you for treating me and all of your followers to your terrific photos of your road trip ...

Looking at your photos reminded me of the postal employee's creed....
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

It was also good for us all to find out for sure that our dear and lovely member @Steph2.0 can really fly an airplane.  Stephanie of course looks really nice in the photo you posted.  She is a beauty and can fly too!

Stay safe, be careful, and enjoy the journey and your time together!!!
Again, thank you for posting your wonderful pictures.

Hugs, and well wishes,
Danielle

Hello, Tia Anne and Debi. I read through this entire thread a few days ago, and the camaraderie you share with others is one of the reasons I finally joined Susan's Place. From your wedding, to the first leg of your road trip, to the long-awaited second, I'm honored to see how much fun you two are having as a couple. Congratulations on, well, everything!

How is it in my neck of the woods? As a born and raised Floridian, it's always nice to see people drive through my home state; it's not the same as just flying in for an event, or to go to Disney World. Keep an eye out for all the weird, wonderful wildlife. We have some really, really big lizards. :D

Hi Tia and Debi,

I am glad you two made it intact to Stephanie's place. I am still an unbeliever. I think all those aeroplane pictures are done with theatrical display backgrounds. I am not sure where she takes the pictures but it is probably in one of her backrooms which I was not allow to see whist I was there visiting. I am convince you all are in on the Steph2.0 conspiracy to lure me back there for another visit.
I see the weather and road hazards are still not on your side this time as they weren't on the first part of your road trip. Please keep being vigilant and stay safe on the remainder of your honeymoon adventure.

Hugs,
  Laurie

I know you have been taking short road trips but it IS nearing time when you should take a much longer road trip. Possibly in about three months when some of the bad weather back east goes away?

Dena, our last road trip, last fall, was over seven thousand miles and three or four weeks. This one is planed for close to seven thousand miles and over five weeks. We are thinking about another one this fall to the west coast at maybe four or five thousand miles and a month (with a stop in to Arizona to visit you if you are open for it). Just what do you consider a long road trip?

Despite my current mental turmoil, I (and Lori of course) very much look forward to meeting you both. Don't let Steph coerce you into a longer stay on the way down. You can kick see her again on the way up.
Faith

Okay, I'm officially sad now. My wonderful guests are on their way to their next stop. They told me that Faith would kick say bad words about me if I didn't let them go.

We laughed, we cried (a little), we shared tasty meals, we went flying, and we talked and talked and talked, all about really good stuff. It's notable that the day they arrived was exactly one year from the day we first met Tia at Phoenix airport on the way to see Kendra. We had that short two days together, then a few days in Denver in August (while Tia was unexplainably busy for some reason), so we really hadn't had that much real time to be together, yet it felt like family was visiting. I unfortunately don't have any other photos to post, since almost all of them are on Debi's phone and camera. I'm sure she'll follow through with new additions to their travelogue.

I'll get to see them again as they go back north through our peninsula. I'm sure there'll be more fun things to report on then.

Donica, that photo was showing a relaxed hand. The white knuckles came when we were landing into a cross wind and Stephanie did some maneuvers that the Duke's of Hazzard would have been proud of when she needed to scrub some speed. She really is quite an experienced and skillful pilot.

We had quite a strong crosswind on landing back home, and with trees alongside the runway, rotors can be pretty turbulent. I came in high and when I wasn't descending fast enough, I told Tia that I was going to do a forward slip to burn off some altitude, then kicked it over pretty hard. Ummm... I guess I should have given a little more warning. The good news is behind the trees and into ground effect, everything smoothed out and I made a decent landing. At least it didn't take full throttle to taxi to the hangar...

Okay, you're on to me. The studio is in the basement, and I blindfolded Tia, dragged her down the steps, and posed in the plane mockup with her. Doing the mockup of Crystal River airport and the restaurant we walked to took another 1/2 hour or so. I don't think she knows.

So there's no reason for you to come visit. Nuh-uh. Negative. No ma'am!

No pictures Steph? That's ok hun. We know it happened. Don't be sad. The nice thing about Florida and Faith living to the south of you is Tia and Debi will be coming back up your way and maybe they'll have Faith and Lori in toe?

Thanks for sharing the pictures Tia and Debi. Those storm clouds looked pretty menacing. I'm not sure which would be worse? A flying lawn mower or a tornado :o

Happy trails ladies!

Hi Debi & Tia Anne,                           24 January 2019

It looks like this has been another lifetime adventure stacked onto all of your other adventures. I'm looking forward to seeing both of you the next time you pass through Tejas in February. I do enjoy seeing you folks and your "Traveling Companions."

Before I head for Phoenix, I'm going to bring out my childhood and adulthood stuffed animals, (yes, adulthood) so Dena and I will have some soothing traveling companions that don't complain about the lack of food or bathroom breaks. There are a couple of them that I received before I was born. I wonder if having them this long qualifies me as a "Pack Rat."

I want to thank both of you for the nice gift, I wear it all the time; I'm going to have Dena's, your name's and mine engraved on it. I thank you very much, I shall treasure it forever.

I started the paperwork for my name and gender change; I'm hoping to have that completed by mid February. For those that think it's hard to do here in Texas, here's the reality: It can be done online and no need to go before a judge or appear in court. Things are a changing here for the better.

Looking forward to seeing you two beautiful ladies next month. Have a safe and enjoyable Honeymoon.

God Bless, Best Always, Love
Christine

PS:
Don't forget the "Duck Tape."

Hello All our Wonderful Friends. I let this tread get away from me again. Something about meeting new friends, and visiting old ones but on their turf instead of ours. Laurie, I assure you that Stephanie does not have a basement. She does however have an airplane hanger and a pretty neat shop.

(https://i.imgur.com/IQEjyOI.jpg)  You can get into if you want, Tia. I'm planning on staying on the ground.   (https://i.imgur.com/zNGu3Kj.jpg) Up! Up! And Away!

Next stop! Faith and Lori's.

It is a little early yet, but we are steady at work manipulating the weather for your possible stay here. I think it is entirely appropriate that since we ended the last trip, we should be on the tail end of this one. Fingers crossed for good visits now with no more flying lawn equipment or traffic issues. Don't forget us.

Moni, We are looking forward to a visit with you and Ann and please keep working on weather manipulation. We don't seem to be hitting the 'It's great weather, wish you were here to share it with us" postcard weather.

Yesterday, we left Faith and Lori's home and headed south earlier than we had planned. There was no rain falling from the sky but since all of us were crying with our parting, wetness was still apart of the day. Have you ever just met folks that you have known all your life. Meeting Faith and Lori was like getting back together with old friends and picking up the conversation where we had left off at a previous get together. For any of you who have not met them, let me try to find words to describe them. Wonderful, sweet, empathetic, kind, honest, loving, caring, awesome, warm and of course beautiful inside and out. You know, just a couple of great girl friends or family that you love to visit.. Our stay was too short (Yes Faith, I am sorry I had to shorten it) but it definitely left us with the desire and plan to get together with them again, and again, and again. Lori and Faith, your stuck with us. We love you Ladies.

Today is our 13th day on this trip. We are in Bonita Beach, Florida and again it's raining. Ok it's actually pouring. Where is sunny Florida/ Picture is out our hotel window and it was taken at 1 pm. (https://i.imgur.com/X57cXd8.jpg)

Tia and I compiled a list of weather we have been through in our travels. We have traveled alot, but this is a little much. We have been through: Rain storms that were heavy enough that you couldn't see the front edge of the car. Lighting dropping out of the sky all around us while traveling through Wyoming on I-80 on the motorcycle and we are the highest point around. Thunder storms where we are counting the seconds to see how close the lightning is. Fog where you can't see out the front window at all. Snow storms that range from a very light dusting to blizzards. The only problem with light snow falls are all the folks out there who don't know how to drive in snow. At least if it's a blizzard people tend to get off the roads. Sand storms, again we were on the motorcyle. Ice storms in Iowa where not only could you not drive on the roads but you couldn't even walk across them. Ice skates might have worked but we didn't have any. Dust storms and high wind storms. We do live just 60 miles from Wyoming. Floods, tornados, forest fires and hurricanes. So this is the list and we decided not to add in all the other strange situations we find ourselves in. Like flying lawn mowers and border patrol who carry guns.  Anyone out there want to go traveling with us?

I should quote for reference, I can't. That's a lot of text.

Debi, Tia mentioned blushing from my simple comment about your visiting us. What you typed is over and above. Every thing that you said I could easily have said about the two of you if I were any good with words. To finally meet two lovely  people and then think "welcome back" rather than just "welcome" is a bit disarming upon realizing we'd just met for the first time. The ease in which we could just sit and talk was both relaxing and enlightening. Although Lori and I had 'outings' planned, the weather had other ideas. I think it was for the better. I wonder who changed the weather for us so that we could just sit inside and chat?

I am sorry that I broke down over the photos. Even though I know you understand, I really tried to keep things at bay during your visit. I think it caught up with me.

Love you both, Hugs and kisses
Faith (oh and Lori too I suppose ... :D)

To bad for the planing that I met Tia only yesterday for the first time!  Instead of sitting in a hotel room in rainy Bonita beach, you could have stayed at my house (only 30 car minutes away from Bonita Beach), and looked at the rain  from here.  To be honest, most people around here are happy about the rain, because everything started to get brow!

When you visit Florida the next time, you should plan a stay in my house into your travel plans!

Day 15 Good morning. We awoke to sunshine today. Don't know what the temp is outside yet but there are people sunning by the pool. We got into Key West late yesterday afternoon and within an hour of getting here we were in the pool and the hot tub. It was kind of fun to have a couple of guys hitting on us and being totally amazed that we could talk cars and bikes and sound like we were knowledgeable. Looking forward to breakfast after last nights dinner of an arugula salad with blackened shrimp, goats cheese crumbles, pickled red onions and watermelon chunks. Yummy and yes very Key West-ish.

Good for you that you left the area.  I got almost cold here, the night temps are down to the upper 40's, and today it shall get up to 67 only!  We are not used to those freezing temps.  Starting Friday we are supposed to get our normal temps (upper 70's, low 80's) back again.  You best stay on the keys until then!

Hi Ladies,                          29 January 2019

Glad the Honeymoon is progressing very well. Sounds like you Ladies are having a ball.

I was stationed there 1963 - 1964; came back for a visit in 1989. Things had changed quite a bit in those 25 years. It is now 30 years since that last visit, I doubt there have been too many changes since then. When I was there in 89 almost all available land had been built on.

Keep enjoying your Honeymoon. I'm looking forward to your next visit here in February. Hopefully, the Crown Vic will be back on the road in some what of her former glory. She is going to need a paint job but that can wait until I get to Phoenix.

Have fun Ladies, stay safe, watch out for lawn mowers and keep the Duck Stuff handy. I think we all should carry that stuff around just in case. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Best Always, all my Love
Chris

And that's just incredibly affirming, isn't it?  I honestly don't mind, in fact enjoy the attention as long as I am in a safe place.  I find myself glowing from the affirmation that this gives me.  (Oh, like she doesn't need more fuel on the fire!)

It is pretty neat being seen as yourself, isn't it?

And after all, this is why so many of us have gone to all this trouble, to finally live as our authentic selves.

I'm so happy the two of you have been able to take off on this Honeymoon Trip Part II.  Thank you for sharing it with our community!

Like flying lawn mowers and border patrol who carry guns.  Anyone out there want to go traveling with us?

Signing out on Day 13 of Honeymoon Take Two or the Traveling Crazy Ladies Show.

Sure! These are the things that make the memories of each roadtrip. Thanks for sharing Tia and Debi.

Oh, and there's that Moni girl again? One day I hope to figure out who she is?

We miss you here in Colorado, but your adventures sound fantastic, minus the weather.  Party girls!!

Safe travels.

This is my second post for today. The sunshine has helped get me out-of-doors and being in Key West is rather invigorating. We left the hotel we had booked yesterday which was situated just as you reach the Key and made a move down town. We are now in the middle of the action. (While I sit writing this I can hear a street concert going on in the next block). The nice thing about our travel time today was that it took a half hour for it to happen and that included finding our guesthouse, unloading and then finding a parking lot to put the car in.
(https://i.imgur.com/7GtFLhn.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/q5gIBwc.jpg) We are upstairs in the corner unit and Tia and her healing foot carried most of the suitcases up.

This is a very busy place and by 1:00 most of the lots were full. We did accomplish the parking and we don't plan on moving the car until we leave two days from now. We should be able to find all the excitement we want within walking distance
(https://i.imgur.com/UoLIKUJ.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/sj8CIFv.jpg)

(https://i.imgur.com/ClWojXE.jpg)  (https://i.imgur.com/whGDHbu.jpg)
and we plan to also take some layback and relax time by the pool. That started this afternoon.

Had a great late lunch of blackened mahi-mahi, mashed potatoes the way I like them with the skins mashed in and a veggie squash medley.  I complemented my half of the meal with a margarita. (After all this is known as Margaritaville.) Went for a walk this evening and got some ice cream. It was creamy rich and we would need to be rich to eat ice cream here very many times. I did enjoy it though. Signing out for tonight. My plan is to sit next to the window and listen to the music from the concert and probably fall asleep.

DAYS 14 - 16
These have been Key West happy days. We've done some walking and talking, some time stretched out with our feet up (both of us are dealing with swollen ankles or foot), and way to much eating. And are enjoying ourselves grandly. As with my last post I will let the pictures tell the story.
(https://i.imgur.com/VOEpflx.jpg) This was taken at the Two Friends Café and Bar where we had a good breakfast before we tried to walk off all the calories we had ingested.

(https://i.imgur.com/7p61Hp6.jpg) Don't know what's behind the gate but thought it an interesting spot to pose.

(https://i.imgur.com/RIPPRvP.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/6wjU7E1.jpg) I like pelicans!

(https://i.imgur.com/QYgzNR0.jpg) Tia's diet plan seems to be working

(https://i.imgur.com/YuUohSr.jpg) Next month's destination

(https://i.imgur.com/bWhaUHz.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/n5EsJwW.jpg) We can only go north from here unless we get a boat.  (https://i.imgur.com/zae2ezs.jpg)  ???

Next stop - Melbourne, Florida and then a couple days at Cassandra's with her and that Stephanie Lady. Watch out Ladies here we come.

@Debi  @Anne Blake
Absolutely wonderful pictures that you included on many of your recent posts.
It definitely looks like you two are having a wonderful time together on your road trip.

After visiting the Florida Everglades I was all the way down in Key West back in October 2017... it was a veryhappening place.  The 100+ mile drive down the Florida Keys and the Overseas Highway is a long and scenic drive and the further south you go, the gas prices get higher and higher.
I fondly remember the Key Lime Pie  and the Cuban Sandwiches.

Once back up north toward Orland I visited the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral  !!! wonderful !!!

Thank you for sharing your journey with all of your followers.
Hugs and hugs....... drive safely!!!
Danielle

DAY 17 found us checking out of Melbourne, Florida where we had a room right on the beach. It was a sweet sleep listening to the ocean sounds all night.

Hi Julie,

It is good to hear from you. The doctor let up on that ridged boot requirement but has me in some pretty ugly hiking boots....so I am not breaking the original boot rules but am not living according to her instructions......and am paying the price for it.

Hi all, having a really nice visit with Anne and Deb. Parachuting, rock climbing, and the polar bear plunge were all fun. The group root canal surgeries were touch and go. I'd give my eye teeth for it to have gone better but every vacation has its flaws. I think we release them from custody tomorrow if the ice allows it. I will let the hostesses fill in the details.

Hi All, I am jumping ahead here because Ann and I have photos that are too good to sit on. I left you all in Florida and I promise I will go back and catch up but now we are in Maryland with Moni and Ann. It is somewhere around DAY 27. We have been having a great time spending time with folks who came to visit while we are in town, going to eat in a restaurant in Gettysburg that had been a part of the Underground Railroad and eating fantastic ice cream. We also saw a movie that Moni says is her favorite and that we all cried through. The Green Book. Tonight however, we topped all other experiences. I think I will let the pictures tell the story.

(https://i.imgur.com/aqWLX97.jpg) This is the weather we woke up to today. I am looking at Moni and Ann's back deck. Please note the white stuff.

(https://i.imgur.com/PkysF6P.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/bbmv1WF.jpg) The temp is below freezing. It is still spitting ice but here are our two snow bunnies. What do you think Alaskan Danielle?

Hi All, let's travel back in time to the first of February in warm and sunny Florida and a fun weekend with Cassandra, the wonderful cat lady and that high flying gal, Stephanie.  We took a boat ride and a tour of Cassandra's workplace. Having people show you a bit of what they do is a great way to get to know them better. Of course so is joining them for "Trivia Night" at a local restaurant. These are a couple of wonderful ladies. Neither of them are old enough yet but when they are we will be including them in our unofficial Crazy Ladies on the Go club. Cassandra took us to Florida's town called Winter Park and we spent the day doing things that we couldn't do in early February in Colorado's Winter Park. Actually I don't think a boat ride is ever available in Winter Park, Colorado. Of course I didn't see any ski runs in Florida. We did have a wonderful time as the pictures attest to.

(https://i.imgur.com/CLtSdyn.jpg) Winter Park and no snow in sight.

(https://i.imgur.com/F2UhcIV.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/Wx1747y.jpg)

After we left Florida our journey took us to Savannah, Georgia. This was just an overnight in a city that we have some history with but since this is deep South we were following a number of folk's suggestions and trying to be reserved in our PDA time. We did very good walking to breakfast and back to the hotel. (Breakfast was at one of our all time favorite restaurants called B. Matthews. The best shrimp and grits.) But Tia just can't keep quiet about who we are and blabbed to the lady at check out about honeymoon and wedding and then pics had to come out and since she had just got married a couple weeks before, we compared gowns and oood and aaawed about her guy and just hugged and cried and were a group of sappy women. I will admit that I cry way more and way easier and about much neater things then I ever did married to a man. Life is grand!

DAYS 20 - 24

After leaving Savannah, Georgia (https://i.imgur.com/J1GEIbB.jpg) we mosied on north through South Carolina and some of North Carolina to Emerald Isle, North Carolina which is right on the Outer Banks to visit a cousin of Tia's. It was a nice stay. The weather was good and we ate a number of our meals sitting out on their upper deck.

(https://i.imgur.com/j39nYqO.jpg)They took us to a very nice aquarium that Karen volunteers at and then had a meal over looking the Chesapeake Waterway. Food was good and the sunset was spectacular.

(https://i.imgur.com/W3XPtiL.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/BQbnOUa.jpg)
These were rather lazy days where we did little. We weren't getting up until mid to late morning, but we weren't getting to bed until after midnight either. We've now been out long enough that the time difference of two hours is going to mess us up when we get back home. Of course at home it only means that we are going to want to start our day sooner and be falling asleep by 7:00 p.m. Actually that doesn't sound much different then before we left.

Signing out Debi and Tia.

We had a new experience in Hot Spring Arkansas today, pictures may follow. This experience caught us unprepared and lucky.

Last night Debi tripped and fell and this morning it was bad enough to need attention. What were we to do as two married older women, one of them trans. I had never thought of or planned for needing help while traveling through the deep south. We were lucky and found a nation wide Urgent Care chain with a corporate wide non discrimination policy and training. The care we received was compassionate and of good quality. The x-rays showed a broken bone that they splinted and provided scripts for pain meds. I don't believe that they read me and did not comment or question our relational status. I am not sure what we would have done had we experience negative reactions. I do believe that we will be much better prepared before we plan our next excursion into less than friendly environments.

Do any of you readers have thoughts, plans or suggestions around contingency planning for angry bigoted muggles?

I'm  posting the pic as proof that I can be a klutz and a margarita can be dangerous. Broken bone in the pinkie finger right where the finger and hand joint is. Splint, wrap and pain meds after the x-ray  confirmed I had actually done damage. Typing one handed sucks. Tia says she will help finish posting the trip. We are now on our 35th day. Have been in 20 States and have put 5,700 miles on Rosie. Tonight we are back in Texas and the plan is to be home on the 22nd of February. We are both looking forward to being home. Now I'm going to let my pain pill work and go to sleep.

I could use that guidance, too. The Monday after you two headed north, Sue broke her wrist. Interesting that I was less worried about being clocked than I was about how two married women would be treated in the urgent care and imaging centers.

Tomorrow she'll be getting surgery on it, and I'll be there as her spouse. Yes, I'm a bit nervous about it, but I have to say that so far there's been zero trouble or even odd looks.

The town in Florida where the procedure is being done is probably more liberal than the more rural areas, so it's probably a bit safer than Arkansas. I'm glad you had no problems there.

Ow!  Oh, @Debi , my biggest travel nightmare is an injury on the road, far from my usual support system.  I am very glad that you were able to get good care, and nobody gave you or Tia any trouble.

Stay safe, fasten your seat belt before any more margaritas, and do enjoy the rest of the road trip!

Dear Debi - so sorry to read about you injury. I am glad that you were able to receive good treatment and get the appropriate pain meds to enable you to relax and sleep. Thank God for the pain meds. My only consolation would be thankfully you were not as badly injured as I was in my recent accident. I've still got a few more weeks off my right leg, so will be here in the US a while longer waiting for the body to heal and physical therapy to take its course.

Please have a safe rest of your journey back to Colorado. You need to be healthy for the next leg of your big adventure.

Much love to you both,
Brook

That is a very good thing to have a contingency plan in case of an emergency. Something I had never thought of until now. I'm glad you two found a friendly place to get help.

I'm sorry Debi but I think you had best leave those margaritas alone for the remainder of your trip hun! You seem to get banged up a lot on road trips ;) I mean gun-toting border guards, sore ribs, flying lawn mowers and now broken bones in a less than friendly environment. Sheezzz!

As for dealing with angry bigoted muggles, I carry pepper spray and a taser. I'm not sure how well these things will work on thick-headed bigots, but at least it's something?

I must say you two really have interestingly adventurous road trips. Have a safe trip home ladies. Remember I still want to meet you both on the West Coast trip.

Hugs!

This is a catch up done one handed. Since we bounced around I am going back to Moni and Ann's which we got to after a night's stay just north of Richmond where we had a wonderful conversation with a waitress. Tia did her thing and we had the lady's history and passions before we were done with breakfast.

Moni and Ann. You two are great friends that we love to spend time with. We had a great visit at their home and even spent some time in Gettysburg seeing Moni's new favorite movie, The Green Book. We all cried. We also went to an old tavern restaurant and then viewed the house it was in which happened to be part of the Underground Railroad.

(https://i.imgur.com/2GcuS3L.jpg) Tia Anne and Moni
Ended the evening by eating ice cream at a Friends Ice cream parlor. I had never heard of them before but the ice cream was delicious. Earlier in the visit to M and A's we had the opportunity to visit with first Terri and later the same day met Zelda and Marci. All great gals! This was another stop that we were sorry to see come to an end. But all good things must....

After leaving Maryland we dropped back south to spend a couple days with our favorite niece outside of Richmond, Virginia and her daughter who is an absolute delight. She fits somewhere on the LGBTQ spectrum and we had a wonderful time getting to meet with her over lunch in Newport News.

A couple of days in Virginia and now we are heading home. At least we are heading west southwest. One night in Nashville to catch supper with Tia's brother and then to Hot Springs, Arkansas. And now my story is back to me typing one handed. We spent a night in Sulfur Springs, Texas and now we are back to the Dallas area and Tia has spent her day with her favorite electrocutioner and in two days we will be home. I am looking forward to my own bed.

Signing off on DAY 37
Deb And Tia, a couple of tired crazy ladies who are wondering how we actually got through this crazy trip with only a messed up wheel well and a broken pinkie finger.

Hi Deb and Tia,                      21 February 2019

Lovely people and photos. I'm sorry I missed you gals yesterday. Discretion being the better part of valor, I had to remain close to home. Driving at night is now out for the foreseeable future. Until I have a reasonable diagnosis and treatment plan, my activities are drastically curtailed.

I'm looking forward to getting things straightened up here where I spend my days, so I can be where my heart is. I have a lot to do here but I will make it to Phoenix this spring.

Hope your pinky is doing well Deb. You will be fine I'm sure. Looking forward to seeing you Ladies later this year.

Best Always, Love
Christine

Donica, I had something great lined up until I found out Frank Sinatra died. Back to the drawing board.

Hope the pinky is feeling better, Deb!

I think you actually caught a ghost sitting next to beautiful Tia in the Dobbin house restaurant. Well, I thought so til I realized it was a cringe worthy picture of me. Of gosh, I hope I don't look that bad. Oh well!

I hope you two sleep for a week when you get home. We miss you ladies.

Today is day 38 and of course Deb had to finish off yesterday's post with the foreboding statement of, "Signing off on DAY 37
Deb And Tia, a couple of tired crazy ladies who are wondering how we actually got through this crazy trip with only a messed up wheel well and a broken pinkie finger."

So today heading out of Lewisville towards Amarillo, ten miles from the flying lawnmower incident a truck tossed up some rocks and cost us a windshield and later unloading our luggage I even broke a nail...far enough down to make a mess of things. So much for day 38, I can't wait to see what day 39 brings as we try to get home by nightfall.

Deb may have some to add to this fun stuff later, so for now, signing out,

Tia Anne

Stay safe on your last day of the trip. Looks cold (not Danielle cold, but still very cold) and a little snowy in your neck of the woods. Time for you to be warm and safe in your cozy home.

Tia gave you an update on how DAY 38 tracked. I might have jinxed us with my sign off but the fates that watch over those kind of remarks paid me in full. Checking in to our last hotel for this trip I must have been looking pretty bad because the lady on the desk asked me to sit while Tia checked us in. I went to the room while Tia got our stuff from the car and coming back in the lady told her how wonderful she was at taking care of me. It was nice of her to notice but later when I called down to the desk to check on something she thought she was talking to Tia and she then referred to me as Tia's mom. Ok it is definitely time to be home.

Actually it amused me as this is something we discussed but didn't think it would or could happen until after Tia's facial surgery. Well, that happens in a little over a month. For anyone paying attention you caught that, Tia and Deb's travels are not ending. On the 25th of March we are off on our next adventure. A week in Paris, two weeks along the Costa del Sol in Spain where Tia will not be on vacation and a week in Barcelona. I think she has or will be starting a thread and I will post our adventures on that as she tells you all about her journey through the looking glass.

One more post, hopefully from home and this trip is at "The End".

Signing off for DAY 38
Deb

Yikes, what a way to end the trip!  Obviously you need a force field around your vehicle.  Shields up!

I hope your next trip is free from flying objects unless you are inside them.

Day 38 Again because yesterdays post was DAY 37

Somehow falling down caused me to miscount but...We are home. Safely!  We got in around 5:30 p.m. Through a day that had fog, rain, sunny blue skies, snow sleet and freezing roads. We immediately went back out and met Cody at a restaurant to celebrate Tia's birthday and then came home and I began to make lists of the who, what, and where's this trip was all about. Honeymoon Part Two had 15 States covered in 38 days and 6,583 miles driven. We connected with 12 ladies from Susan's and 8 family members. Also along the way we met a bunch of total strangers who became instant friends for the moment. We exchanged stories, secrets and travel memories. Each encounter ended with a smile and often times a hug.

So what has this all been about? Let me take you back to the beginning. Our journey began a year ago with an unplanned stop in a wedding dress shop in Plano, Texas. Two dresses later and we are making calls to our friends saying we bought wedding gowns and were looking for folks who wanted to party with us. And party we did and we owe so many of you all, thanks for making it happen. Laurie and Michelle, the reception wouldn't of happened if you hadn't been there with us the week of the ceremony. Kendra, your artistry on the violin is amazing. Stephanie and Cassandra, Florida to Colorado is a far distance to come to be part of a wedding party. Jessica Rose and Susan, the photos are wonderful. Julie, we fought over which one of us was going to get to claim you as bridesmaid. Then you all pulled the Pleiades House together, and though the time was short, it was such a bonding time. And that's what it is all about! That is what being a woman is! We are relational. We serve, we love, we need. We are emotional. We cry, we laugh, we share. Our greetings are a hug. Our leavings are another one.

That's how the journey started. A week later we started our honeymoon trip to connected with those of you who couldn't join us. Special thank you to Kathy and Wendy and to Moni and Ann for having us in your homes and spending such wonderful time with us before Florence sent us running for home. The first part of the honeymoon was 6,121 miles, 17 States, 5 Provinces of Canada and 5 lovely ladies from Susan's. Yes, there were also some of those total stranger encounters on that leg also. (Tia doesn't know how not to talk to people.) In total we travelled 12,704 miles through 28 States and 5 Provinces. Most important of all, is that we had the opportunity to actually hug 20 of you from Susan's Place. Did I mention that most women like to touch?

I send my apologies to Christine and Lindy, I have no pics of you and you were a part of our journey. If you send me a selfie I will add your shots to the rest. Thank you for being who you are.

Thank you Ladies for sharing this journey with us. This is what real life is all about.

Signing out.

In that way, for those times, you two were the center of our Universe. A perfect example of the power of love.

Thank you.

Thank you so much for sharing your trip and all those great photos!  I need to do another road trip, once free of the clutches of these doctors!
