Post by: wilough on June 15, 2017, 09:21:26 PM
Hi there everyone! I was just wondering your guys beginning shoe sizes and your end shoe size. Im 18 and havent started estrogen yet i have started lupron (hormone blocker) almost 2 and a half months on that now. Ive been a US 9 and 9.5  for a like ever now and wanted to know if there was any shrinking with estrogen. Im really wanting to get down to a 8 or 7 but yeah let me know what happened to ya'll.

Hi willough. Welcome to the site. Actually my feet got a little bigger on hrt. When I started estrogen at age 17 my feet were 5 1/2. Now 2 years later I wear a size 6. I can still get my feet into size 5 1/2 shoes but they are a little tight and not as comfortable as a 6 is now.

No, HRT will not shrink your foot size. HRT often increases body water retention levels that might effect foot comfort (slightly bigger), but not decrease foot size.

I honestly have shrunk 2 shoe sizes. I was a 10.5us and now I'm an 8w us. I'm still in men's shoes. I have also shrunk 2.5 inches in height. It can happen it is not very common but it can. I'm lucky that it has for me. Although hrt has done wonders on my body but next to nothing on my face.

About 5 months ago, when I started MtF HRT, I wore a 7 in men shoes and a 8,5 in womens shoes. Still do. Didn't notice any evolution so far. Hugs, Sarah

UPDATE (10 Aug 2017):
Don't know why, but I'm @ almost 6 months HRT and my shoes 8,5 are now clearly too large and I must wear 8's... Can't figure out why!

My feet have shrunk some, but I am not willing to say it was HRT.  I am more inclined to believe it is my weight loss.

I started at a 10.5 or 11 in women's shoes and am now a 9.5 or a 10. And yes, I'm sure, because the shoes I bought early in transition don't fit anymore (too bad, they were cute!).

It's possible, the connective tissue between bones can change causing reduction in hand, feet size, and height is the theory I've seen, but not everyone seems to get it, I'm really hoping I won't be a US size 12 forever, but I've got more weight loss to go, went down a size already from weight loss, no HRT yet.

You're pretty young though, bones fuse at around 25, so you'll get more changes than some of us.

My feet have shrunk about a single shoe size after about a year on HRT. But, I will also say that in that time I tried to health-up by stopping drinking and getting more exercise too. So it's hard to know what exactly caused it. But, it is possible!

Hi wilough,

Sorry this is so late.

Welcome to the site. You got some varying answers. I am told the feet don't shrink, nor do we shrink in height. However, I have read that the ligements between the bones become more elastic. I know I used to wear a 91/2 10 in mens or 42. After a year and a half, I wear a 9 at biggest, eur 41. So who knows...

I have gone from a men's 10.5 to a women's 11. The most dramatic differences I notice is a narrower heel, and higher instep. I can no longer wear men's shoes even with heel cups, as they cause severe blistering after just one day.

I was a mans 10-11 shoe, today I am now a woman's 10 to 11 after being on HRT. I cannot honestly say the HRT made my feet smaller. I think it is more likely "Vanity" sizing which is prevalent in women's clothing.

Back years ago I wore a woman's size 14 dress. Today I am more of a 10, sometimes even an 8. NOTHING has changed. My basic dimensions are still the same. Rarely do I need to try on a 12 when I see that the item is cut on the smaller (for real) side. Same for shoes. I used to wear a woman's size 14! Today as I said 10-11. My men's shoe size never changed.

If you are thin to begin with, do not expect much in any change of size of your feet.

I lost over 100 pounds and the length of my foot lost maybe 1/2 size at the most. But the width really went down.I went from a (mens) 13D to just a bit over a 12 C. I do not attribute this to HRT but rather weight loss.

Well to write an update on my own food size. I started at men's 10.5 shoes. I have gained 15lbs since my start of hrt. I am now down to women's size 9.5 or men's 7.5. That's a wicked jump. I'm not sure what caused it but I'm glad lol. I'd say it's hrt. But who knows a lot of things could have done that I guess lol. I've also shrunk in height again lol. I'm 5'8 on a good day lol.

Your feet won't shrink.  You may convince yourself to squeeze into smaller shoes, but it will be the same feet doing it.

You foot might not change in length but it can thin out and change in width as a result. I took before and after pics of mine and it is noticeable. I am a woman's size 10, but i can tell that thinner shoes will fit me, compared to a couple of years ago.

No change here.  I was a women's 11.5 when I started and 14 months later I still am.

No change here either, but then I started quite late and am only 9 months in or so.

Mine hasn't changed at all.  My feet were bony to begin with and they still are.
