Lol so as my dad becomes more accepting of my transition he is realizing just how alike I am to him and how much stuff we do (and always did) together. Recently we have been fixing up our house and yard(we have 15 acres) getting it ready for my little sister's birthday party. Every weekend we wake up early and go outside and do yard work. Usually when he is ready to get started I am sitting on the couch eating breakfast. My dad still kind of avoids pronouns, so instead he comes up with crazy nicknames to call me. Like "boy", or today which was weird but really funny "hero".
Haha just wondering if anyone else's relatives or friends had come up with any weird nicknames while adjusting to transition.
I have a friend who calls me Nipples. No joke. She used to call me a word related to that but since its so similar to my birth name she went with Nipples.
My parents(mainly my dad) call me KC. Its my initials and my new middle name, Kacey. He occasionally calls me Kyle though. My mom has called me sir a couple of times :p
Tiger, bro, stuff like that! In high school my nickname was Travis. Kinda hilarious I was called a boys name for three years of school before I knew what a ftm was. Even the teachers called me that!
As a "male" IRL I get called "Birdie" sometimes.
my dad always calls me Herb (i'm not out to him) lol no one knows why, not even him (hm...well he is a deadhead...)
Herb! That's cute. My dad called me "Boy George" a few weeks ago. I'm not out to him either, but he's on to me.
thanks! and boy george? haha thats a good one.
"..he's on to me." LOL!
My dad calls me brute, but he's called me it for awhile because I used to play rough with him, so I guess he just prefers to continue calling me that instead of anything else
One of my nicknames is "Gollum." Apparently my siblings think there's a resemblance...
If you really want to confuse people, and you are a redhead, you could ask to be called "Bluey", a very traditional Aussie nickname.
How this came about I have no idea.

I've been called Boy George more than once by people although the last time I think it was something to do with the skul and cross bones trilbe hat I was wearing, apart from that I seem to be called mate alot by people.
None too exciting, but my mom has taken to trying to call me "dude" or even "doodle." It's just so weird when she says it, she doesn't normally so it sounds like she doesn't know how to say it, you know?
I used to be really jealous about guys being called "son" (still am, actually). I had a teacher from the deep south who used to call all the boys son (as in-- "what were you thinking, son!") and I got so jealous I actually told him and so he started calling me daughter. Back when I was Catholic I also used to get jealous that priests would call males "my son" but would never call females "my daughter". It was just such an affectionate term and I was so jealous that guys got that affection and I didnt.

When I hear others near me get called a he and I don't, I feel like I don't deserve it.

Hahaha! :D We used to call my sister Smeagol sometimes because in this one photo her expression looked just like him. It was hilarious (the photo and her reactions).
Carson, by any chance, is your dad former military?

At my catholic church/school, everyone got called "my child". That was kinda nice.

I think that you (and the other guys here) would really love my country!!!
Here it's common for parents to call their kids "son", boys or girls. ;D
It's like a nickname they use, I don't know how to explain it...
So my parents called me "son" a lot of times, I have never been called "daughter". Of course, except when they are introducing me to someone... >:( But never in everyday life.
I'm not outed, so every time my dad/mom call me "Son, could you..." I have a huge grin. ;D
Pretty cool, I must say...
I got attacked by a dog yesterday (yeah, I know: :o), and after the doctors put 23 stitches in my face, my mom suggested that everyone start calling me "Stitch." I'm a little traumatized, but I don't think I'd mind that nickname too much...
Dude, that's terrible! Hope yr ok.
I'm okay, thanks. Just went in for a follow-up and the doctor said I look "fantastic" for one day of healing. Maybe 6 days and I can get the stitches out. :)

haha yeah he is actually, air force. Why do you ask?

Lucien, I hope you are ok.

That's where the hero comes from. ;)
Its almost
never applied to female military personnel, BTW.
Guys are into nicknames. One of the weirdest I came across was a guy called George. Everyone called him Henry. I still don't no why.
Do girls get nicknames I've never heard of any except in sports and even there it seems rare.
Stitches I hope you recover OK, and that is one cool nick name. If I was a guy I'd use it all the time.
Cindy
ha, love nicknames! especially giving other people them, even if its just a nickname of a nickname they already have. i call this kid...uh, i think his name is austin or something, but i call him eddie cause he looks like a little eddie van halen.
and i just remembered, i got a friend that calls me Shepherd sometimes (usually when i'm not paying attention lol) cause i love german shepherds. so thats cool 8) seems more like a guy nickname then a girl one! (i don't think i'm really out to him..not exactly, i dont quite know lol)
My brother's name is Matthew, but my friends and I all call him Archie. ;D
I love how in a group of friends some people end up introducing everyone they know with a weird nickname. With some of the people I know it'd go "This is slash, gnome, tomcat and noodle"
We weren't really into the nickname thing growing up. There were times when I wanted a nickname, like when I tried to get everyone to call me Hawkeye during my M*A*S*H phase, but it never worked. The only people I knew with nicknames were people who hated their first names and so went with a name they liked (usually their middle name, but not always). Like James who went by Brandon or John who went by Jay.

NICE
My dad used to call me "Slavid," as in slave + David.
I've called my son things like "Attila the Hungry," "Vlad the Inhaler" & "Frankenswine" due to his appetite. "Lord Manhammer" is another one for his D&D and gaming habits.
My parents just call me KID LOL :-X

my ex-friend used to call me Hawkeye sometimes, but more of an insult cause i got really bad eyesight, heh. but then i'd turn around and call her Klinger...she didn't like that, ha!
Lets see. Friends sometimes jokingly call me Moonchips because I sat on a bag of sunchips one night camping.
Aunt calls me Big-A, and My little sister Little-A because we both have first names starting with A and keeps her from having call me by birth or preferred name.
I know one nickname I do give out for people not wanting the whole issue of names or trouble remembering. AD which is my first and middle initial and pretty cool to :)
For some reason, nicknames never seem to stick to me. :-\ Even if people start out calling me by a nickname, they eventually revert to my full name. Even when I worked at a music store where everyone, practically, had a nickname - Squirrel, Santa Clause, Butterfly, Stash, Jonny-B, Chuckles - Not me. I think there was only one other person who didn't have a nickname, and everyone was slightly afraid of him.
That being said, though, my extended family has been having a terrible time remembering my new name, so my uncle, for a while, took to calling me Mr. J.
Somehow in my mid 20's, I got the name Zoro.

You know that "Zorro" is Spanish for "Fox," right? ;)
Even if it is misspelled intentionally?
Zoro like the old superhero?

Well, that does change things a bit.
The handful of my coworkers who I've come out to all call me by my last name. One of the guys just started doing that spontaneously because he couldn't call me James yet (I'm not "officially" out at work to everyone) and yet he didn't want to keep calling me by my old name. I thought that was very awesome of him, and also it was one of those things I didn't have growing up (the calling buddies by their last name thing seems exclusively male), so I was really stoked when the other guys started picking up on that and following suit.

That is very cool! My best male friend sometimes calls me by my last name, and he's been doing that since... a long time. I've never known girls to call each other by their last names either, so I was pretty excited about it too!

Irrelevant, but that's pretty cool. My PE teacher used to call me by my last name. I thought it was cool, no gendered name on top of making me feel sort of important. It's pretty cool if you like your last name.
Lots of people here in Australia will get "y" added to their surname, Smith-Smithy, Burke-Burkey etc. Also sometimes "o" on the end of the first name "Dave-o", "Jacko" etc.
I had a boss that called me 'Son' or 'slick'
Oddly enough, my girlfriend's dad has given me many nick names since I came out to her family. Like the standard stuff, champ, and boyo, and little man.
Non related to my transition, my dad calls me worm (No one knows why) my mom calls me Mort (also, no one knows why XD ) and all my cousins call me hottie ._. They're weird. My friend Sam calls me Mog, or Moggy. Thankfully I never had to go through a name change, because Morgan is a unisex name that I have always liked. Just need to get my middle changed from Alexandra to Alexander.
My gym teacher called me mighty mouse.. because I was really strong in second grade, apparently!
And my girlfriend calls me puddin' breath.... I hate that nickname. It makes no sense, I don't eat pudding! I hate pudding! I think she calls me that to annoy me XD So I call her bubble butt or something like that when she uses that nickname.
I go by Kaden to my friends...and mom.
I've been called Kadey, Kade, Syn, Duck or Synners. My friend called me Kaydizzle one time....still does. lol
