Given their negative view on sexuality, probably not well. Generally they have the same views as the Catholic Church.

Alpha Course have a very strict position on sex. The position is that sex outside marriage is a sin, whether hetero or homosexual, and since gay people can't marry, they can't have sex in their view.

  Hi  FridayJones,

I'm Laurie, I'm sorry I can't answer that question because though I regularly attended a first Baptist as a kid it was so long ago I have trouble remembering a deacon's daughter I dated for awhile.  I see that you are new here. So please let me say, Welcome To Susan's Place! Come on in and take a good look around.  Perhaps I can even get you to hop on over to the Introductions (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,8.0.html) Thread and  create a post to tell us a little bit more about yourself so we can get to know you a little better and greet you properly. I'll add some links and information below that can help you get more out of our site. Please take time to become familiar with them especially the RED one as we are always getting questions that are answered there.

I think it depends not only on which Baptist denomination you are referring to, but also which individual congregation.  While I know that there are many Baptist churches that are not accepting, there is one locally that calls itself an "affirming" church, where gay and trans people are specifically welcome.

Wife and I go to one here. They hold to adam & eve, not adam & steve belief. Not a problem yet for us because after being transitioned 19 years but still pre-op I had to return to male because California passed law that id had to be birth id unless srs was completed. Hard to live female with male id, so changed back. Been six years and I definitely am ready to resume. I definitely cannot live in a role that I have no idea how to fill.

I also feel God made me who I am, with all my 'distinctions' and He has a plan for my life as I am. I just need to be the best me I can be and I will find my calling. At 63 I hope I find it soon.

I go to baptist churches & a non denominational church... pretty much all they have here by way of churches (living in the south as it is).   I just don't go shouting proudly waving any flags.   I COULD but why?  I'm there more as a social function anyways.. people have various reasons for attending churches.  In my case, I love singing & playing music.

Don't need to bring sexuality into it if noone else does, now do I?  Just my thoughts on it, doesn't make it right or wrong.  Then again, I 'pass'.. whatever that means.

Well, here's an experience I had recently.  A Baptist came to my door.  After I pointed out he was trespassing on private property and had to leave immediately, he noticed my nail polish and called me a "Sodomite".

Nice guy.  He's probably jealous.

I have no desire for Adam and Eve or Adam and Steve. Yet there I am, in the same disgraceful ship. None of the "main stream" religions accept trans folk. Churches like the Unitarian Church does. I like to go where I'm wanted.

It's easy to talk when you don't have anything come at you.

We all need mercy from the Lord; straight, gay, cis and trans.

I have been in quite a few churches and they all (of those I visited) have one thing in common. Each one thinks they are right and the only ones saved.

I was raised in a very conservative lifestyle where one would not mention any transgender feelings. Back then we never knew the term transgender.

I know I tried it all.

The super Christian, super cisgender, closet transgender and everything else I can imagine.

Where did any of it get me?

Last year I started coming out about a sin not unto death versus a sin unto death, righteous judgment and doctrines without division, hypocrisy and confusion. I shared a few of those things with a sister here.

The end result was that those who want to seek farther will and those who don't won't.

I ended up losing friends and almost everything, of which I do not regret one bit.

The sister here did.

For all of this, nobody has the right to tell a transgender they are going to hell nor call names.

These people who do this have never had to face what we face. They have it too easy. When confronted with their own sin or abomination they ignore it, justify it, shun you or call you mean, hateful, or worse.

My conclusion on this is to each their own.

The Lord gave me a way to handle being trans. I don't feel it will work for all and I surely do not wish to talk about it. The reason I feel he did that for me was mercy, pure and simple. Something we all need whether straight or gay, trans or cis.

People  who make remarks like that man disgust me.

I know in my particular brand of Baptist (IFB-Independent (King James Only) Fundamental Baptist), they believe that those in the LBGT community are vile and filthy reprobate sodomite pedophiles, and that there is no chance of salvation for us because God gave us up, since we did not want to retain him in our knowledge, according to Romans 1 (KJV).  That is not the case for all of us, clearly.  Your Southern Baptist might be a bit more tolerating, in the sense that, while the majority believe that it is a sin, you won't get thrown out of church, and they will likely believe that a LBGT person can be saved.  I believe that this holds true with many Reformed Baptist churches as well, excluding Westboro Baptist Church....at least if you are elect.

Just note that not all Independent, Fundamental Baptist churches believe that (otherwise, we wouldn't be independent, lol)!

But then, of course, they also think that if you DO get "saved" you will cease to be LGBT . . .

True, sadly.
