Any stock car fans? What do you think of the new format with three stages to the race? Who's your driver?

I don't get nascar fans. I mean what is so entertaining about people spending 3 hours driving in a circle?

"Oh look they're making a left turn! They're making a left turn! They're making another left turn! Go to commercial come back in 10 minutes, you ain't gonna miss a damn thing!"

You've obviously never seen a race. EVERYTHING happens as soon as they go on a commercial break!

I had some friends take me to a stock car race when I was a kid. I remember Ken Schrader was there. Not sure who the hell he is. A half hour later, I was falling asleep.

I like Schrader. The best name ever in NASCAR has to go to Dick Trickle, though.  >:-)

I use to like Nascar back in the day when there was earnhardt, wallace, allison, elliot, even swervin ervin.  i just cant get use to all the cars being the same Car of Tommorrow.  If you can build it and keep it on the track you should be able to run it.  JMHO though.

Hi Devlyn Marie,
I just joined Susan's Place a few weeks ago so I wasn't available to comment on this post in June.  I'm a long time and unapologetic motorsports enthusiast.  I following all three series of NASCAR (Monster Energy Drinks, Xfinity and Camping World), as well as Indy Racing, Formula 1, NHRA and off road racing.

I'm going to have to get used to the new racing format in the Monster Energy Series.  I watched nearly every race this season or at least part of every race. Unfortunately, I don't find NASCAR as exciting as I once did.  Like NFL football I just don't find that the product is as interesting as it once was.   Regardless, I still follow it and will watch races on TV and attend them in the future.

I couldn't have been happier with the conclusion of the season this year at Homestead.  Martin Truex, Jr. has long been one of my favorite drivers. I still  have some #56 Napa gear from when he drove for MWR to prove it  ;D. The last laps of Sunday's season finale was like a movie script.  The good guy (Martin) going toe to toe against the bad boy (Kyle Busch). It was indeed exciting and fine victory for a great driver and a small but worthy race team that earned the right to be 2017 NASCAR Monster Energy Drink Champions.

They stopped being stock cars  a long time ago. Used to read magazine articles as a kid in the 60s (cousin's mate was a sailor who got him American car & bike rags). Late 60s/early 70s was best time with Dodge Daytona,Plymouth Superbird, Ford Torino Talladega & Mercury Cyclone Spoiler. After that there were to many rules & restrictions. My 2nd favourite Mercury

They indeed stopped being stock cars many years ago.  If one positive thing arose from that it's driver safety and crash survivability.  I actually prefer the Indy Racing series because in my mind it's more pure racing and unlike NASCAR isn't dominated by a few wealthy team owners that can afford the best race car set ups, engines, drivers and crew chiefs, etc.
