Title: Has Brassard re-opened yet
Post by: Erika_ on May 22, 2020, 09:28:04 pm
I was wondering, The wait times were long before this virus happened.

I am in need of surgery soon, that thing between my legs just won't die.

I have the same feeling. Surgery is blocked by the virus. :(

I'm not certain about Quebec, but elective surgery has resumed in Ontario.  However, there is a large backlog.  Your best bet would be to ask the clinic.

May 15th 2020 update : Partial resumption of surgical activities
...
Today, we are very happy to announce that GRS Montreal was authorized to partially resume its surgical activities for trans and not binary people, starting Monday, June 1, 2020.

Note that the Canada-USA border remains closed, as do some interprovincial borders within Canada.  They will be doing vaginoplasty only for the time being, as it is the only surgery not requiring a general anesthetic (explanation in the blog post).

WOW!!!  I would have thought they'd want you under for that sort of surgery. That's what happened when I had some wisdom teeth out.

That surprised me also!

I guess they give you something like the epidural sometimes administered to women in labour...

Yes, they do it with a spinal / epidural.  I had full anesthesia because I was also getting a trachea shave, for which they can't use a spinal.
